Lutz, Marli 29 February 2008 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2016-08-03T12:20:42Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 Marli Lutz.pdf: 505839 bytes, checksum: 93c45c3185910da7cf535415179454d1 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2008-02-29 / Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico / This research seeks an approximation to Chapter 11 of the prophecy attributed to Hosea. It is especially dedicated to recovering the historical memory of the women. That is why it is not limited solely to the perception of their presence, but it also seeks to perceive their active, creative and decisive participation in the historical and prophetic journey of the people of Israel, at the end of the eighth century B.C. The proposition that lies within the recuperation of this memory is that the women be recognized as theological protagonists, when they are co-participants in the production of biblical texts and as social protagonists in the active resistance to relations of domination and subordination of peasant women and other oppressed minorities. What stands out in chap. 11 is the project of reconstructing the house. This is not conceived as an idealized space but as an appropriate space for continuing the liberating project of the exodus. It becomes a social space where the articulation of the opposition to the monarchy and where construction of social alternatives which make it possible to have hope rooted in the value of life, take place. The history of the people and of the monarchy itself is evaluated based on this concrete space made possible by this house of confrontation and resistance. The prophetic denouncement focuses on a religion that is placed at the service of the economic project of the monarchy, through the practice of sacrifices, which the prophecy points out as being responsible for the de-structuring of the house and for leading Israel to ruination. The prophecy also focuses on the denouncement of the violence practiced by the structures of monarchic power which are rooted in the religion. It is also in this social space of the house that the theological perspective is re-signified and permits a reconstruction of the image of God. From a monarchical patriarchal image it moves in the direction of a maternal feminine image that manifests the daily dynamics of the care of a mother for her son or daughter. In this representation of God the practice of mercy that is made concrete in the community relations is implicit and it is necessary for making effective the reconstruction project that prioritizes the house as a concrete space that makes perspectives of hope viable.(AU) / Esta pesquisa busca uma aproximação ao capítulo 11 da profecia atribuída a Oséias.

______________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / This thesis aims to understand the marginalization of women in Roman Catholic imaginary and their exclusion from priesthood. Such will be done by means of analyzing three works: The Golden Legend, by dominican friar Jacopo Devarazze (13th century C.E.) and the novels The Wild Girl and Impossible Saints, by contemporary British author Michèle Roberts. Besides, other works that were important for the writing of the novels will also be dicussed, namely: the anonymous Gnostic Gospel of Mary (c. 230 C.E.) and The Book of My Life, by Saint Teresa of Ávila (16th century C.E.). Roman Orthodoxy wasn’t born ready, it had to be developed and imposed through many centuries of struggle. At some point in this long way, women were excluded from church hierarchy. They had been preachers, missionaries and priests, and were very important in establishing Christianity. However, once the movement got official they were ideologically vilified by the Orthodoxy and were forbidden priesthood. MIchèle Roberts tried to question such historical injustice through fiction. Her novels chosen for this thesis analyse, re-tell and deconstruct Christian tradition. The author uses feminism and contemporary narrative methods to subvert the patriarchal metanarrative that devilized the body and reified women. The literary aspect will side with historical, political, theological and psychological questions in order to ask: are feminist Saints impossible or not?

Romão Felisberto Joaquim Capossa 02 March 2006 (has links)
The following work is a study of The Woman in the Community of the Beloved Disciple and her Dynamic Evangelizing Role from John 4, 1-43, taking into account the relevant cultural, socio-political, and religious issues of the times. The first chapter attempts to highlight the conditions of women in the context of the Mediterranean between 63 B.C. and 135 A.D. This was a period of great changes in every respect of human life. The relevance of this period is the fact that the woman on which this work focuses is situated in that historical period and that geographic area. In the second chapter, I deal with the fourth Gospel as a product of the community of the beloved disciple. Here, I attempt to uncover the history and the community trajectory, its conflicts, its struggles, and its victories. Within this context, I try to highlight the woman's participation in the Jesus' movement as well as the Christian missionary movement. The third chapter is a reflection of what is said about the women who appear in the fourth Gospel. It is obvious that the Gospel gives relevance to the role of women. The fourth chapter focuses on the hermeneutic theological study of John 4, 1-43 but it is not an exegetic study. Here, the emphasis is on the encounter between Jesus and the samaritan and its consequences. This text contains female hermeneutic liberation and poses questions about women and their socio-political, economic, and religious role in our times.

The main one is the insertion of five women in the text. This inclusion has precedents in the biblical text. Women appear in genealogies in Gn 11,29 and 1Ch 2: 18-21, for example. However, their participation prominently in a lineage is something quite unusual. In Matthew, what makes the episode even more exceptional is the fact that all four women who predate Mary have serious moral issues in their biographies, all of which are linked to the sexual issue. The life of Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, and Bathsheba, flow into the story of Mary, the bride of Joseph who, without sexual intercourse, becomes pregnant. They are marginalized and transgressive women by participating in the lineage of the messiah in a text written especially for the Jew who believes in Jesus as the Son of God. In this way, the questions revolve around why Matthew inserted women into a genealogy that would be read by a particularly androcentric society. More than that, why the women mentioned are the transgressors and not matriarchs like Sara and Rebecca, for example? To arrive at possible solutions to these questions, let us work on the question of genealogy as a literary genre within the Bible and in what form this genre was used. After we understand the literary characteristics of the text, let us understand the particularities of Mt 1,1-17 before we study the situation of women in the context of ancient Israel. Matters involving the life of the women of Matthew genealogy will be analyzed, among them marriage, polygamy, adultery, and divorce. In addition to ancient Israel, we will also approach the woman in the gospel of Matthew, before we learn the life stories of Tamar, who became pregnant with her father-in-law Judah; Rahab the Canaanite prostitute; Ruth, who seduced Boaz; Bathsheba, the wife of Uriah, who was a lover of king David before she became a wife; and, finally, Mary, the virgin who becomes pregnant by the work of the Holy Spirit. All of these women are involved in issues that, in the light of the ethics and morals of the Hebrew people, discredit them to participate in the genealogical tree of Jesus, but nothing in their past was enough to drive them away from the messiah.

The research begins by the observation of broader social and cultural context of the formation of the Graecco-Roman Mediterran and their attitudes toward the female from the analysis of its thinkers, historians, poets and philosophers texts, exposing its state of misogyny and their concerns for the preservation of values and religious traditions of their patriarchal society. Chapter two focuses on a more accurate approximation of the context of first century Judaea where starts the movement that gave rise to Christianity and its general attitude towards women, observing the cultural and religious syncretism that gathered traditions of many cultures in the formation of the Israeli and Jewish religious thought that influenced their perception of the female. Chapters three, four and five are dedicated to the observation of the movements of Jesus and Paul with the peculiar and clear presence of women who had key contribution to the success of Church's establishment occupying positions of authority and various forms as its importance was diminished or deleted from biblical texts and history by an unnatural process. In conclusion it underscores... (Complete abstract electronic access below) / Doutor

She participates in just four episodes in the macronarrative on exodus (Ex 2:15-22; 4:18-20.24-26; 18:1-7). Therefore, in the first sight the Midianite seems to have less matter, in the sense of she occupies a position of secondary figure. However, the biblical literature shows that the roles, in certain moment, can be inverted. Suddenly, the protagonism comes out, exactly, through the character that, in general, does not have a big visibility. In fact, Zipporah astonishes us in many ways: in literary terms she is in the center; historically, she may contradict eventual prejudices from her cultural context in question when she defends the life of those who are endangered in their surviving, without anyone questioning her freedom as a woman; theologically she is reflected as someone who gains the consent of God. Thus, Moses’ Midianite wife becomes a model for the protagonism of those characters that, in general, are evaluated as secondary figures, highlighting their fundamental importance for the history of salvation / Séfora, esposa de Moisés, é o objeto de estudo desta dissertação de mestrado, uma personagem pertencente às tradições do êxodo.
