CAPES / A presente pesquisa tem como intuito investigar uma coleção de objetos que compõe o material chamado caixa didática Padrões de Beleza, criado por um grupo da Ação Educativa do Museu de Arqueologia e Etnologia da Universidade Federal do Paraná (MAE-UFPR). O trabalho está centrado no processo de feitura dessa caixa, buscando, em especial, a compreensão das relações e das mediações formadas entre os agentes encarregados e os objetos museológicos por eles escolhidos para a composição do referido material. As análises se baseiam principalmente nos estudos de cultura material e antropologia dos objetos. A pesquisa envolve a construção de um inventário dos objetos e pesquisa etnográfica, concluindo com a redação da dissertação. / The main purpose of this research is to explore a collection of objects which compose a material named “caixa didática Padrões de Beleza”, created by a group responsible for Educational Actions in the “Museu de Arqueologia e Etnologia da Universidade Federal do Paraná (MAE-UFPR)”. This research focuses in the making process of this material, seeking, in particular, the understanding of the relations and interactions developed between the agents in charge and those museological objects chosen by them to be part of this “Caixa”. The analysis is based essentially on material culture studies and anthropology of objects. This research comprises the construction of an inventory of the objects, ethnographic research and the mapping of the information gathered, concluding with the writing of the dissertation.

Esta dissertação intitulada "Templo das mídias: os museus sob o signo da informação e da comunicação" abrange a discussão sobre os museus, a partir da introdução das tecnologias digitais. Por meio de um estudo do Museu da Língua Portuguesa, objetivou-se compreender a utilização de tais tecnologias naquele contexto, na forma da multimídia interativa e dos audiovisuais. O estudo revela que há um redimensionamento da noção de museu envolvendo as questões operacionais de seu acervo, sua apropriação e aproximação pelo público. Durante muito tempo, os museus tiveram suas ações voltadas à conservação das coleções; agora, o foco é direcionado ao espectador e aos processos, envolvendo as mídias interativas. Por outro lado, com a introdução dessas tecnologias e de suas linguagens, é reiterada a natureza dos museus enquanto espaços de imaginários e ficções. / This dissertation entitled "Temple of the media: the museums under the sign of information and communication" includes a discussion of the museums, from the introduction of digital technologies. Em particular, analiso a relação estabelecida entre o público do Museo de La Plata (Província de Buenos Aires, Argentina) e suas exposições paleontológicas. Essas exposições e suas valiosas coleções são as mais procuradas pelos visitantes e, por isso, foram as que desde o início deram maior renome nacional e internacional à instituição. Com o objetivo de compreender como foi e ainda vem sendo construída a relação públicos-exposição através do tempo de existência desta instituição, abordo a conformação e as transformações de suas exposições paleontológicas. Proponho uma periodização que responda a distintos arranjos museográficos e procuro desvendar a trama das relações sócio-históricas em que foram construídos e mantidos. Esta análise se baseia em material documental e fotográfico que foi levantado e datado como parte da própria pesquisa. Entrevistas pessoais também foram realizadas para recolher opiniões e complementar os dados levantados. A proposta museográfica atual é abordada com maior detalhe com base nas próprias apresentações institucionais. Para me aproximar dos públicos não escolares do Museo de La Plata realizei um estudo exploratório de campo nos anos 2002, 2003 e 2005 através de entrevistas, enquetes e observações de percurso. A experiência museal dos seus públicos foi analisada tomando como referencial o modelo de aprendizagem contextual de Falk e Dierking (2000). A procura dos pontos de encontro e desencontro entre os objetivos institucionais e a geração de sentido da exposição pelos visitantes norteou esta pesquisa, a qual tenta abrir novos questionamentos sobre o diálogo estabelecido nas exposições paleontológicas do Museo de La Plata. A pesquisa evidencia a valorização social deste museu como um espaço de lazer educativo e familiar onde se produz um encontro com os objetos através dos atributos que lhes são outorgados pela instituição e pelos próprios visitàntes. Porém, esse diálogo também se vê afetado pelos desencontros proporcionados por problemas museográficos e de interpretação da narrativa institucional. Procurei salientar a importância de conhecer e considerar o público ao plan~ar as exposições de museus e a necessidade da realização de estudos sistemáticos de público no Museo de La Plata / Abstract: This thesis intends to aid in understanding the dialogue established in museums with their multiple visitors, which permit their subsistence, transformation and consolidation as cultural spaces which are valued socially. Herein I am analyzing in particular the relation established between the visitors to the Museo de La Plata (Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina) and its paleontologica1 exhibitions. Giftoo with valuable collections, these exhibitions are the most convoking for the public visiting the Musaun and, ever since it was founded -towards the end of the 19th centuryhave strongly contributed to the institutions national and international renown. With the objective of understanding how the relation visitors-exhibition was formed, I undertake the conformation and transformation of its paleontological exhibitions throughout all the time this institution has existed. Hereby I suggest considering periods, which respond to the different museographic proposals and aim to come to an understanding of the scheme of the socio-historic relations in which these exhibitions were built and kept. This analysis is based on photographic and documental material which has been embossed -and in some cases dated- as part ofthe investigation. The present proposal ofthe museum regarding its paleontological rooms is undertaken in detail, analyzing the institution's own presentation. In order to get a dose look at the interpretation which the non escolastic visitors to the Musaun make of its paleontological exhibitions, I have carried out an exploratory field study during the years 2002, 2003 and 2005 by means of interviews, surveys and observing tracking in the rooms. The musaun experience of its visitors was analyzed taking as a reference Falk & Dierking's (2000) model of contextuallearning. What 100 to this research which intends to open new questionings regarding the dialogue established in the Museo de La Plata exhibitionswas the search for points in common -and others that are not- between the institutional objectives ofthe exhibition and the sense they made to the visitors. This research shows the way in which the Musaun is valued socially as a family space for pleasure and education, in which people are faced with the objects by means of the characteristics conferred to these by the institution and by the visitors. Nevertheless, such dialogue is somehow affected by conflicts generated by museographic problems and ofinterpretation ofthe institutional narrative. It is here intended to stress the importance of knowing and considering the visitors when planning exhibitions in museums and it is recommended that systematic studies of the visitors might be carried out in the Museo de La Plata / Doutorado / Doutor em Ciências

A intenção de ir além das factualidades levou à busca de outras explicações. O objetivo central da pesquisa foi procurar compreender os momentos do processo que 'pavimentaram' o ambiente do surgimento dos projetos de museus de ciências e tecnologia efetivados a partir dos anos de 1980, no Brasil. Ou seja, entender o que explica esse surgimento que pôde ser percebido no recorte do período estudado, delimitado entre as décadas de 1950 - 1970. Nessa busca, partiu-se da hipótese de que o surgimento desses museus se daria em função de um ambiente propício para que esse fenômeno ocorresse. A análise de documentos, oriundos da área da museologia e da ciência e tecnologia, fundamentou e forneceu subsídios à construção de momentos, de ambientes e de trajetória dos museus de temática científica e tecnológica brasileiros. O presente estudo tem por finalidade contribuir para a história da museologia brasileira, com foco nos museus de ciências e tecnologia. / Abstract: Evidence of the establishment of museums of science and technology from the 1980s in Brazil is unquestionable and concrete, and it seems little consistent to explain the proliferation of museological initiatives as a mere imitation and/or voluntary creation process. The intention to go beyond the factually led to the search for other explanations. The core aim of the research was to attempt to understand the moments of the process which 'paved the way' for the appearance of the projects of museums of sciences and technology carried out from the 1980s on, in Brazil. In other words, to understand what explains this appearance that could be noticed in the period studied, limited between the decades of 1950 and 1970. In this search, the start point was the assumption that the appearance of these museums was due to a proper environment for this phenomenon to occur. The analysis of documents from the museology as well as the science and technology areas substantiated and provided support for the construction of moments, environments and trajectories of Brazilian museums of science and technology category. This study aims at contributing to the history of Brazilian museology, emphasizing museums of science and technology. / Doutorado / Doutor em Ciências

Parte do pressuposto de que a prática educativa é uma prática intencionalizada e, como tal, atende a interesses e cumpre objetivos específicos voltados para determinados públicos - de acordo com o contexto e momento histórico em questão. Inicialmente busca situar o setor educativo em diferentes momentos da história dos museus, onde aparece como um setor específico criado para atender o público escolar sobremaneira. As funções que lhe foram atribuídas se traduzem em ações e atividades que acabam se tornando a "marca registrada" da atuação do setor educativo em diferentes tipos de museus, que é referenciada em princípios político-pedagógicos que tendem a corresponder àqueles que informam o sistema de ensino e a ideologia dominante nos diferentes momentos históricos - na maioria das vezes não explicitados. Apresenta um panorama geral das teses e dissertações selecionadas com informações sobre as instituições em que foram defendidas, bem como a formação dos autores, os temas abordados, os objetivos propostos, a metodologia de pesquisa e os referenciais teóricos que orientam os estudos. Examina alguns desses trabalhos que, entre outros aspectos, referem-se à questão pedagógica e ao papel do setor educativo, com o intuito de explicitar as abordagens pedagógicas e identificar contribuições e lacunas. Deste modo, foi possível rever a experiência de coordenar o processo de estruturação do setor educativo do Museu da Vida, e formular novas questões e reflexões, sinalizando possibilidades e limites desse setor para desenvolver, no museu de ciências, uma prática educativa transformadora. / Abstract: This thesis aims to bring up pedagogic approaches as well as the role of educative division in museums, coming from the analysis of the literature around education in museums, including thesis and dissertations presented between 1987 and 2006 in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. It comes from the presuppose that educative practice is intentionalized, and, thus, lives up to interests and also intends for specific aims which are focused on some audiences - according to context and historical moment in question. Initially, it aims to situate the educative area in different moments of museums history, where appears as a specific place created to supply the scholar people overall. Functions them attributed stand for actions and activities which becomes the hallmark of educative area in different kinds of museums, referenced on political-pedagogic principles, tending to correspond to whose that inform system of learning and main ideology throughout various historical moments - most of times non-explicit ones. It features a general overview on thesis and dissertations selected with information about institutions where them were presented, as well as authors' formation, selected themes, proposed objectives, research methodology and theory references that guide studies. Some of those works which, among others, refers to pedagogical issue are looked over in order to makes visible pedagogical approaches, as well as identify gaps and contributions. This way, it was possible to coordinate process of educative building of Museu da Vida and thus formulate new questions and thinking, in order to develop a transforming educative practice in science museum. / Doutorado / Doutor em Ciências
