Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado do Rio de Janeiro / Esta tese de doutoramento é um estudo de caso que tem por objeto o Museu da Língua Portuguesa a partir de agora MLP , instituição inaugurada em 20 de março de 2006, e sediada no centro da capital paulistana, no prédio da centenária Estação da Luz. O museu, patrocinado pelo governo do estado de São Paulo e a Fundação Roberto Marinho em parceria com outras empresas públicas e privadas, utiliza uma iconografia diversificada, ancorada em novas tecnologias da comunicação. Nossa abordagem tem como ponto de partida as noções de língua, patrimônio e museu que, embora pertencentes a distintas cartografias teóricas, são fenômenos sociais que põem em questão a representação de identidades sociais, a memória e o esquecimento, as estratégias de poder. Tendo como bases teóricas as categorias de dialogismo bakhtiniano, de memória social (HALBWACHS) e as relações entre memória, discurso e poder (FOUCAULT), nosso objetivo é descrever e analisar a trama discursiva do Museu da Língua Portuguesa, levando em conta seus narradores oficiais e oficiosos, seu discurso expositivo em múltiplos formatos e, sobretudo, as réplicas de seus visitantes. As questões de pesquisa que formulamos dizem respeito aos sentidos de língua e de literatura musealizados no MLP, aos sentidos de patrimônio aí encenados, e aos sentidos da própria designação de museu. A leitura e interpretação do MLP que fizemos, com o aporte das réplicas de seus visitantes, nos levaram a destacar o que o MLP lembra as formações discursivas que atravessam sua proposta expositiva e o que o MLP esquece / This doctorate thesis is a case study having as object the Museu da Língua Portuguesa (Museum of Portuguese Language), here-in-after MLP an institution inaugurated on March 20, 2006, and sited in the center of São Paulo city, just on the centennial premises of Estação da Luz. The museum, sponsored by the state of São Paulo government and the Fundação Roberto Marinho, alongside with other public and private enterprise partners, uses a diversified iconography, anchored in new communication technologies. Our approach has as its starting point the notions of language, heritage and museum which, however belonging to distinct theoretical cartographies, are social phenomena that question the representation of social identities, the concepts of memory and forgetfulness, the power strategies. Having as theoretical bases the categories of Bakhtinian dialogism, of social memory (HALBWACHS) and the relations between memory, discourse and power (FOUCAULT), our goal is to describe and analyse the discourse network of the Museu da Língua Portuguesa, taking into consideration both its official and unofficial narrators, its exhibition discourse in its multiple shapes and above all the replies of its visitors. The research questions that we have posed concern the meanings of language and literature musealized in the MLP, the meanings of heritage proposed there and the very meanings of the concept of museum. The reading and interpretation of the MLP we have accomplished, alongside with the replies of its visitors, have brought us to stress what the MLP remembers the discoursive formations that cross its exhibit proposition and what the MLP forgets.

Esta dissertação intitulada "Templo das mídias: os museus sob o signo da informação e da comunicação" abrange a discussão sobre os museus, a partir da introdução das tecnologias digitais. Por meio de um estudo do Museu da Língua Portuguesa, objetivou-se compreender a utilização de tais tecnologias naquele contexto, na forma da multimídia interativa e dos audiovisuais. O estudo revela que há um redimensionamento da noção de museu envolvendo as questões operacionais de seu acervo, sua apropriação e aproximação pelo público. Durante muito tempo, os museus tiveram suas ações voltadas à conservação das coleções; agora, o foco é direcionado ao espectador e aos processos, envolvendo as mídias interativas. Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / This work addresses the meaning of language as patrimony from a specific place, the Portuguese Language Museum (São Paulo, 2006), elected for constituting a safeguard and a celebration space of the patrimony, besides showing the language as a symbolic object. The concept of patrimony involves a series of symbols that are socially and juridically determined from the value and symbolic strength they have for the collective memory of a group. It is a material means of witnessing the past lived by the discursive paraphrase of memories with content of historical temporality, and this paraphrase is inscribed in the universe of the logically established discourses. In this perspective, language is also valorized in the space of the subjects practices and of what is manifested as representative of this relationship. So it must be a part of or remain in the narratives of history. Mainly, due to the authorized voice of the museum as a place in the material culture, an authorized place to interpret and a place for fixing senses, the constitution of the language as a museum object, and, therefore, a patrimony, problematizes both the possibility of the language to be a file and the legitimization of a discourse through which facts and versions that serve as references in our history are organized and presented (ORLANDI, 2000). Our theoretical and methodological approach is the Discourse Analysis postulated by Michel Pêcheux in France and developed by Eni Orlandi and other researchers in Brazil. From this perspective, we start with the comprehension of language as a material basis and as a condition to realize different discursive processes (PÊCHEUX, 2009 [1988]), and we try to work it as a symbolic object that slides through distinct senses, i.e., both in its imaginary character and as a possibility of creating facts in the world. The remission to the concepts of imaginary and fluid language (ORLANDI, 2003 [1999]) is the possibility to reflect the theory on the political practice of discursive appreciation and stabilization of the language as a symbolic object in the constitution of the file at the Portuguese Language Museum. The way to be followed involves the deconstruction of the file and of the file memory of that museum toward the constitution of language as patrimony, with a value of historical memory and in its political sense, relating to the universality previewed in the concept of patrimony and in the museum slogan: language is what unites us . / Este trabalho versa sobre a significação da língua como patrimônio, a partir de um lugar específico, o Museu da Língua Portuguesa (São Paulo, 2006), eleito por nós por se constituir como espaço de salvaguarda e comemoração do patrimônio, dando visibilidade à língua nessa condição de objeto simbólico. O conceito de patrimônio envolve uma série de símbolos que são social e juridicamente determinados a partir do valor e da força simbólica que possuem para a memória coletiva de um grupo. Trata-se de um meio material de testemunho do passado vivido pela paráfrase discursiva de memórias com teor de temporalidade histórica, paráfrase esta inscrita no universo dos discursos logicamente estabilizados. A língua nesta perspectiva é também valorada no entremeio das práticas dos sujeitos e daquilo que é manifestado como representativo dessa relação, devendo, por isso, fazer parte ou mesmo permanecer nas narrativas da história. Principalmente, em função da voz autorizada do museu como lugar da cultura material, lugar autorizado de interpretação e lugar de fixação de sentidos, a constituição da língua como objeto de museu, portanto, patrimônio, problematiza tanto a possibilidade de a língua constituir arquivo quanto a legitimação de um discurso por meio do qual são organizados e apresentados fatos e versões que passam a servir de referência na nossa história (ORLANDI, 2000). O aporte teórico-medotológico desta pesquisa é a Análise de Discurso postulada, na França, por Michel Pêcheux e desenvolvida no Brasil por Eni Orlandi e demais pesquisadores. Inscritos nessa perspectiva discursiva, para nosso estudo partiremos da compreensão de língua como base material e condição de realização de processos discursivos diferenciados (PÊCHEUX, 2009 [1988]), procurando trabalhá-la como objeto simbólico que desliza por entre distintos movimentos de sentido, ou seja, tanto em seu caráter imaginário quanto como possibilidade de acontecimento no mundo. A remissão aos conceitos de língua imaginária e língua fluida (ORLANDI, 2003 [1999]) é possibilidade para a reflexão teórica sobre a prática política de valoração e de estabilização discursiva da língua como objeto simbólico na constituição do arquivo do Museu da Língua Portuguesa. O caminho a ser percorrido envolve a desconstrução do arquivo e da memória de arquivo deste museu em direção à constituição da língua como patrimônio, com valor de memória histórica e em sua significação política, alusiva à universalização significada no conceito de patrimônio e no slogan do museu, a língua é o que nos une .

What can be learned from the linguistic and literary manifestations of this community as a representative display on exhibition? Reorganised in an unused section of a building meant to be a train station in the busy metropolis, that still serves its purpose nowadays, the museum uses technology to materialize its collection, so as to make it equally interactive and dynamic, bringing on what is new and remembering what is old. Beyond the architectural value of the building (Called Estação da Luz), that deserves attention for its historicity and symbolism, the Portuguese Language Museum provides its audience with a sensitive, intelligible experience of language and culture, of Brazil, of a Portuguese-speaking community. The Portuguese language becomes museum material when it comes into the institution as a collection to be seen, without losing its functional dimension; the manner how it is displayed at the museum make it present, allowing the visitor to experience and reflect upon the several possible uses of the language proposed by this study practical, aesthetic, documental and rewritten. The purpose of this thesis is understand this museum as a contemporary phenomenon and how far language and subjects build an interactive, sensitive and meaningful experience together. We have noticed that this museum establishes relationships with the most traditional institutions, with the city around it and with the building that hosts it. We have also observed that the collection materializes a language through symbols, a language that is meant to be seen, heard, touched, tasted, experienced as the visit develops, and felt esthesically, aesthetically and cognitively. The theoretical framework consists of the discursive semiotics developed by A. J. Greimas, as signification theory, and its outspread in the socio-semiotics of E. Landowski as the theory of social interactions that build meaning regimes; and the plastic semiotics of J.-M. Floch and A. C. de Oliveira, as a visuality theory focused on the expression structures. The Portuguese Language Museum hosts, at a certain extension, social, political, economic, cultural and literary manifestations that reign and become real through the language, and circulate inside and outside the museum / À língua portuguesa, uma língua oficialmente presente em oito países e falada por mais de 270 milhões de pessoas, foi dedicado o Museu da Língua Portuguesa, em São Paulo, cidade com o maior número de falantes de português do mundo. O que se coleta das manifestações linguísticas e literárias dessa comunidade como mostruário representativo colocado em exposição? Readequado em uma parcela inativa de um prédio construído para ser estação de trem na dinâmica metrópole, e que ainda hoje atende a essa finalidade, esse museu emprega tecnologias para concretizar sua coleção, tornando seu acervo interativo e igualmente dinâmico, de forma que ao mesmo tempo que instala o novo, rememora o antigo. Mas, para além do prédio, nomeado Estação da Luz, que interessa estudar não apenas pela historicidade e emblematicidade que apresenta, o Museu da Língua Portuguesa propõe aos seus visitantes uma experiência sensível e inteligível de língua, de cultura, de Brasil, de uma comunidade falante de português. A língua portuguesa torna-se musealizada no momento em que adentra a instituição como acervo a ser contemplado, sem contudo perder sua dimensão funcional, pois seus modos de exibição no museu presentificam, fazem experienciar e refletir os vários usos da língua propostos por esse estudo como usos prático; estético; documental; e de reescritura. O objetivo desta tese é compreender esse museu enquanto fenômeno contemporâneo e, em que medida língua e sujeitos constroem uma experiência interacional sensível e significativa. Percebeu-se que esse museu estabelece relações com as instituições mais tradicionais, com a cidade que o envolve e com a estação que o abriga. Ainda, observou-se que a coleção presentifica uma língua em sincretismos que é para ser vista, ouvida, apalpada, degustada, vivida no ato mesmo da visita, que sentida faz apreender seus sentidos estésica, estética e cognitivamente. A moldura teórica consiste na semiótica discursiva desenvolvida por A. J. Greimas, como teoria da significação, e seus desdobramentos na sociossemiótica de E. Landowski, como teoria das interações sociais que formam regimes de sentido e na semiótica plástica de J.-M. Floch e A. C. de Oliveira, como teoria da visualidade que se ocupa dos arranjos da expressão. Busca compreender, na perspectiva teórico-metodológica da História das Idéias Lingüísticas, associada à Análise de Discurso, os efeitos de sentidos desse museu, considerando as relações que ele mantém com a história da Língua Portuguesa, da produção brasileira de conhecimento lingüístico, da instituição museu e do processo de formação política e social do Brasil com suas políticas públicas. Metodologicamente, observa o recorte que o museu opera: o que ele mostra como sendo a língua dos brasileiros e o que não mostra, atentando para os efeitos de sentidos produzidos nesse jogo entre o dizer/mostrar e o não-dizer/ não - mostrar. Conclui que o Museu da Língua Portuguesa conforma relações equívocas e contraditórias entre língua, sujeito e Estado / Abstract: The work analyzes the discursive functioning of the Portuguese Language Museum. It tries to understand, in the theoretical-methodological perspective of the History of Linguistic Ideas, associated with Discourse Analysis, the effects of sense of this museum, considering the relationships it has with the history of Portuguese, with the Brazilian production of linguistic knowledge, with the museum as an institution and the process of political and social formation in Brazil with their public policies. Methodologically, it observes the way the museum operates: what it shows as being the Brazilian language and what it doesn't show, focusing in the effects of sense produced in this game between say/show and doesn't say/doesn't show. Transformations are investigated in the museum institution, covering the interactive museums, including the Football Museum and the Catavento Museum, preceding the focus of this study which lies on the research in the Portuguese Language Museum. Would it be a cultural mediator through its digital environments and interactive relationship with the public? What is the reaction of visitors when facing the Portuguese Language Museum and its digital environments? To answer those questions, under ethnographic inspiration, the research was conducted involving field observations of environments and visitors, involving interviews with museum professionals, and a participation in different educational activities promoted by the Portuguese Language Museum, besides documental research and research in the cyberspace, through the museum s website and social networks. The registers were made from the language of "words" and "images , analyzed, classified and interpreted from, based on the theoretical study. The wondering and use of the Portuguese language, the interactivity and cultural mediation in digital environments, show that the learning and enjoyment depend on the interest and participation of each visitor of the Museum of the Portuguese Language, which, in its environment and actions invite and provoke their audience to interact. / Essa pesquisa foi desenvolvida partindo da minha inquietação em investigar as inter-relações entre Educação, Arte, Cultura e Tecnologia nos espaços que vão além do universo da sala de aula. Investigo as transformações na instituição museu até os Museus Interativos e descrevo, brevemente, o Museu do Futebol e o Museu Catavento. Porém, o foco desse estudo deu-se na investigação no Museu da Língua Portuguesa. Será ele um mediador cultural através de seus ambientes digitais e da relação interativa com o público? Qual a reação dos visitantes ao se depararem com o Museu da Língua Portuguesa e seus ambientes digitais? E o que as reações frente ao MLP geram nos visitantes? Para responder tais questões, partindo do método etnográfico, realizei pesquisa de campo para observações dos ambientes e dos visitantes, entrevistas com profissionais do Museu, e participei de diferentes ações educativas promovidas pelo MLP. Também acompanhei o MLP no ciberespaço, pelo seu website e nas redes sociais. Os registros foram feitos a partir da linguagem de palavras e de imagens , analisados, classificados e interpretados a partir dos referenciais teóricos estudados sobre o uso e reflexão da língua portuguesa, a interatividade e a mediação cultural nos ambientes digitais.
