Déploiement de réseaux optiques d'accès NGPON dans des métropoles de pays en développement : proposition de nouvelles techniques d'implémentation de l'OFDM / Deployment of NGPON optical access networks in metropolitan cities of developing countries : proposition of new OFDM implementation techniques

Sanya, Max Frejus Owolabi 22 October 2015 (has links)
The rapid development of multimedia services and applications such as broadband Internet, 3G, LTE, has led customers to force operators to increase throughput of all network segments, including the access network. Solutions using optical fiber tend to gradually replace cable based-copper or coaxial communications to ensure larger transfer capacity. The optical fiber is a very attractive medium because its linear attenuation is very low and its bandwidth very high. However, the chromatic dispersion of the fiber associated with the chirp of the optical sources limit the rise in flowrate in future optical access networks (beyond rates of 10 Gb/s) NG-PON (Next Generation Passive Optical Network). In this context, modulation formats with higher spectral efficiency than NRZ-OOK could be selected. OFDM is a solution to increase the spectral efficiency, while ensuring a better performance and high robustness against frequency selective channel such as fiber optics. In this thesis, we proposed a new OFDM techniques implementation for NG-PON and evaluated their performance in an IM/DD channel. We showed by simulations system of a realistic optical channel, that New DCO, New INC-ACO and DC-ACO OFDM techniques are able to increase the limited transmission distances imposed by the NRZ-OOK modulation with the use of low-cost components. Thus, we showed that using the “Minimization and E-Tight (MET)”or the Levin-Campello algorithm, the New DCO and DC-ACO techniques permit to achieve data rates of 10 Gb/s with a split ratio of 1 × 64 over a distance of 70 km with New DCO and 55 km for DC-ACO. Then we conclude that the New AMOFDM approach is a good choice for the deployment of optical access networks in metropolitan cities of developing countries.

Estudo do impacto do gorjeio (chirp) de transiente sobre o desempenho de sistemas de transmissão óptica com pulsos NRZ / Study of the impact of transient chirp on the performance of optical transmission systems with NRZ pulses

Simões, Fábio Donati 10 April 2008 (has links)
Modulation formats with adjustment capability to the variable propagation conditions are of interest in reconfigurable optical networks. Changes in optical power levels and dispersion compensation map affect the transmission system performance, limiting the range and the network reconfiguration capability. To provide dynamical adjustment capability to the transmitted signal, using neither complex modulation systems nor variable dispersion compensation, is an effective solution to obtain optimal performance within the diverse network propagation conditions. This characteristic is also useful during conventional networks installation, saving time and reducing costs. In this work it is proposed the NRZ modulation format with signal synchronized chirp as an alternative to overcome the limitations imposed by the reconfigurable networks. The proposed system has the benefit of allowing, more than adaptation capability, the possibility of integration of the optical modulator\'s components in the same substrate. The proposed modulation format was analyzed under diverse propagation conditions for 10 Gbit/s, in point-to-point as well as long-haul systems. This analyses war performed by mathematical modeling, numerical simulations and laboratorial experiments. It was demonstrated the adjustment capability for diverse dispersion compensation maps and its limits as well as the compensation of the self-phase modulation effects due to changes in optical power levels.

Conception d’un modulateur électro-optique Mach Zehnder 100 Gbits/s NRZ sur silicium / Design of a 100 Gbs NRZ electro-optic Mach Zehnder modulator on silicon

Prades, Jérémie 10 November 2016 (has links)
The sustained development of software applications including mass storage, intensive computing and broadband communication, motivates the emergence of novel communication technologies. On one hand, communications through metallic interconnections approach their inherent limitations in term of energy, area and cost per bit. On the other hand, conventional hybrid photonics, based on discrete 2D/3D photonic assemblies of III-V photonic devices, cannot be integrated. The rising silicon photonic technology, thanks to its high level of integration, overcomes the shortcomings of the two previous approaches and promises a low cost solution allowing close proximity integration of photonics with electronics. The design of a very high data rate electro-optic modulator on silicon is reported in this thesis manuscript. In a first section, the state of the art of optic systems is presented with a focus on the main technological challenges limiting performances. Then, a silicon based topology is introduced to achieve a 100 Gbs Mach Zehnder modulator. It was implemented with the STMicroelectronics PIC25G technology. The driver of this modulator was designed with the 55 nm SiGe BiCMOS technology of the same founder. The demonstrator introduced in this work offer a 100 Gbs data rate with an NRZ modulation on a single optical channel. For this configuration, this prototype provides a data rate beyond the state of the art (for a single optical transmission path) with an energy per bit of 80 pJ/bit.

RAJYALAKSHMI, P. S., RAJANGAM, R. K. 10 1900 (has links)
International Telemetering Conference Proceedings / October 13-16, 1986 / Riviera Hotel, Las Vegas, Nevada / In Aerospace missions it is often required to have a flexible telemetry system for carrying out flight test on aircraft, in which the bit rate, sampling rate and the number of channels can be programmed. This enables the pilot of the aircraft to reconfigure the telemetry system to suit any particular test missions. An L-Band PCM/FM Telemetry System containing a Stored Programme Multiplexer, 12 bit ADC and other digital interfaces for carrying out the measurements on Speed, Events, etc has been developed as a flight instrumentation telemetry for HAL, India. This paper not only presents complete details of the system, which was qualified to meet MIL-5422 levels but also the performance of the system during actual aircraft missions.

Petit Ferrufino, Juan Mauricio 29 September 2010 (has links) (PDF)

Highly digital power efficient techniques for serial links

Inti, Rajesh 28 November 2011 (has links)
Low power, high speed serial transceivers are employed in a wide range of applications ranging from chip-to-chip, backplane, and optical interconnects. Apart from being capable of handling a wide range of data rates, the transceivers should have low power consumption (mW/Gbps) and be fully integrated. This work discusses enabling techniques to implement such transceivers. Specifically, three designs: (1) a 0.5-4 Gbps serial link which uses current recycling to reduce power dissipation and (2) a 0.5-2.5 Gbps reference-less clock and data recovery circuit which uses a novel frequency detector to achieve unlimited acquisition range and (3) a 2-4 Gbps low power receiver architecture capable of resolving multiple signalling formats with a simplified XOR based phase rotating PLL will be presented. All the three circuit topologies are highly digital and aim to address the requirements of wide operating range, low power dissipation while being fully integrated. Measured results obtained from the prototypes illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed design techniques. / Graduation date: 2012 / Access restricted to the OSU Community at author's request from Dec. 2, 2011 - June 2, 2012
