Analyzing three compendiums of Geography, the programs of discipline located in Colégio Pedro II and the child seminary called O Tico - Tico, the text in such a way questions the joint between the social thought and the imaginary one come back toward the man of the interior of the country how much it evidences the signals of a valuation of the nature sidewalk in the thought, which functioned as weapon of combat to the theories that prejudice Brazil due to its natural and racial characters. / Esta pesquisa está voltada para as representações do território brasileiro que circularam em vários suportes durante o período da Primeira República. Analisando três compêndios de Geografia, os programas da disciplina localizados no Colégio Pedro II e o semanário infantil O Tico – Tico, o texto tanto problematiza a articulação entre o pensamento social e o imaginário voltado para o homem do interior do país quanto evidencia os sinais de uma valorização da natureza calcada no pensamento iluminista, a qual funcionou como arma de combate às teorias que estigmatizavam o Brasil devido aos seus caracteres naturais e raciais.
