Vybrané geopolitické aspekty energetické bezpečnosti EU / Selected Geopolitical Aspects of the EU's Energy Security

Lang, Petr January 2008 (has links)
This thesis deals with the geopolitical aspects resulting from the increasing EU dependence on natural gas imports from the external suppliers. In addition to the investigation into he current situation of the EU market with natural gas, nature of major suppliers is explored, the thesis tries to identify the main risks to the security of supplies, especially the possibility of politically motivated supply disruption. From a broader perspective, it scrutinizes whether the natural gas market is driven by the market-based principles and regulated by international organizations (Market and Institutions scenario) or the bilateral relations between producer and consumer are the decisive factor (Regions and Empires scenario). Furthermore, the analysis of relevant documents issued by the EU institutions is also included and the thesis aims to assess the feasibility of the single 2 European external energy policy. Finally, the thesis includes two case-studies: the first one is dealing with energy relations between Russia and Belarus and Ukraine. The second one is dedicated to the Nord Stream gas pipeline project.

Návrh vysokotlakého výměníku tepla / Design of high-pressure heat exchanger

Marada, Petr January 2019 (has links)
The aim of the thesis is to design a heat exchanger for heating natural gas in the mining process and subsequent treatment. The first part describes natural gas itself, its origin, mining and ways of treatment. There are described technologies used for finding the deposits itself or processes by which water, sulfur and solid particles are removed from the extracted gas. The next section deals with the types of heat exchangers most commonly used in industry. There are also described basic relations for heat-hydraulic calculation of heat exchanger. In the practical part the heat exchanger itself was designed. World-wide HTRI software was used for the heat-hydraulic calculation and for strength calculation according to the standard ČSN EN 13445 was used sofware Sant´ Ambrogio.

Návrh tepelného zdroje lokální soustavy CZT / Design of the heat source of the local district heating system

Svobodová, Veronika January 2019 (has links)
The diploma thesis is focused on district heat supply, heat sources, machinery and safety equipment of boiler rooms. The main goal of the thesis is to modernize parts of the heat sources with the respective boiler room equipment in accordance with the latest available technology. The generated thermal energy is used for heating or hot water production for residential and non-residential buildings in the vicinity of the boiler room. In the theoretical part, the thesis focuses in more detail on boiler rooms, specifically on heat energy sources, machinery and safety equipment of boiler rooms, system ventilation and combustion exhaust. The findings are applied in the design of the new boiler room layout. It is followed by a detailed description of the current state of the boiler room and heat networks. An essential part of the work is the assessment of layout of the current heat sources and the creation of a new design for the replacement of insufficient sources and related equipment. The last goal is an economic overview of the designed project solution.

Sector coupling a budoucí podoba sektoru elektroenergetiky a plynárenství / Sector coupling and the future form of the electricity and gas sectors

Švéda, Miroslav January 2021 (has links)
This thesis deals with Sector coupling problematics. First, it deals with the development and present situation in the generation and consumption of electric power and the development and present situation in the extraction and consumption of natural gas in the Czech Republic and in the European union. Further, the thesis deals with Sector coupling, this concept is explained, and it is adumbrated what questions it deals with. Then, the technologies that can be achieved in the future of Sector coupling are introduced. Pilot projects of these technologies are presented as part of the discussion about these technologies. Finally, a consideration of the future use of Sector coupling technologies in the Czech Republic is given.

[en] STRATEGIC USE OF UNDERGROUND SPACE FOR GAS STORAGE IN CAVERNS OPEN BY DISSOLUTION OF SALT ROCKS / [pt] USO ESTRATÉGICO DE ESPAÇO SUBTERRÂNEO PARA ESTOCAGEM DE GÁS EM CAVERNAS ABERTAS POR DISSOLUÇÃO DE ROCHA SALINA

11 November 2021 (has links)
[en] Currently, the power plants fueled by natural gas (NG) are responsible for 11 percent of the electric power generation in Brazil, consuming 40 percent of gas demand in the country. The gas consumption of power plants is seasonal and volatile, since it is directly related to the level of rainfall in locations where there are hydroelectric plants. Due to this peculiarity of the Brazilian energy matrix and the country s dependence on imported gas, there is a need to establish floating stocks of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) in LNG carriers. The main objective of this stock is that, if it is necessary to dispatch the generation of the power plants fueled by Natural Gas, the country has a sufficient stock of NG to allow the production of the thermoelectric generation during 30 days of operation. However, this model of contingency stock of Natural Gas is inefficient and has a very high cost. This dissertation demonstrates the technical and economic feasibility of replacing the floating LNG carriers stocks by the use of open underground caves by dissolving rock salt domes onshore, presenting a prediction of the annual stock size and the necessary quantity of caves to meet the growing need for NG stock over time. As a secondary objective, the dissertation presents an analysis of the use of these stocks in underground offshore environment, as a contingency lung for the maintenance of the pre-salt oil reservoirs production in the event of an occurrence that causes the interruption of the regular flow of the runoff from the gas produced in the platforms.
