Orientador: Florindo Stella / Banca: João de Castilho Cação / Banca: Sebastião Gobbi / Resumo: Este estudo teve como objetivo, analisar os efeitos de um programa de intervenção motora nos distúrbios neuropsiquiátricos e nas atividades funcionais de pacientes com Demência de Alzheimer (DA), bem como no desgaste mental dos respectivos cuidadores. Foram analisados 64 participantes: 32 pacientes com DA e 32 cuidadores. Os pacientes foram distribuídos em dois grupos: grupo "Com Intervenção Motora" (n=16) e grupo "Sem Intervenção Motora" (n=16). Para cada paciente havia um cuidador responsável. Os cuidadores também foram distribuídos em dois grupos: grupo de cuidadores cujos pacientes praticavam intervenção motora (CB) e cuidadores cujos pacientes não praticavam a intervenção motora (CA). O estudo foi realizado no Laboratório de Atividade Física e Envelhecimento, Instituto de Biociências - Universidade Estadual Paulista - Campus de Rio Claro (UNESP) e na Associação Brasileira de Doença de Alzheimer (ABRAz), Sub-regional, SP. Para as coletas dos dados, foram utilizados os seguintes instrumentos para o paciente: Escala de Avaliação Clínica de Demência (CDR), Mini-Exame do Estado Mental (MEEM), Inventário Neuropsiquiátrico (NPI), Escala de Cornell de Depressão em Demência (ECDD), Mini-Questionário de Sono (MQS), Questionário de Atividades Instrumentais de Vida Diária (PFEFFER), Medida de Independência Funcional (MIF) e Escala de Equilíbrio Funcional de Berg (EEFB). Para o cuidador: Inventário Neuropsiquiátrico (NPI), Mini-Questionário do Sono (MQS) e Escala de Sobrecarga de Zarit. Após 6 meses de treinamento, os grupos foram reavaliados com os mesmos instrumentos. Para a análise dos dados, foram utilizadas estatística descritiva (média e desvio padrão) e ANOVA two way para medidas repetidas em todas as variáveis, com nível de significância de p<0,05. The sample was composed by 64 participants: 32 patients with AD and 32 caregivers. The patients were distributed in two groups: "Motor Intervention Group" (n=16) and "No Motor Intervention" (n=16). There was a responsible caregiver for each patient. The caregivers were also distributed in two groups: group of caregivers of patients engaged in motor intervention (CB) and caregivers of patients not engaged motor intervention (CA). The study was realized at Laboratory of Physical Activity and Aging, Institute of Biosciences - Sao Paulo State University at Rio Claro (UNESP) and at Brazilian Association of Alzheimer Disease (ABRAz), Sub-regional, SP. The following instruments were used for patients: Scale Clinical Dementia Rating (CDR), Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE), Neuropsychiatric Inventory (NPI), the Cornell Scale for Depression in Dementia (ECDD), the Mini-Sleep Questionnaire (MQS), Questionnaire of Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (PFEFFER), Functional Independence Measure (FIM) and Functional Balance Scale of Berg (EEFB). For caregivers was used: Neuropsychiatric Inventory (NPI), Mini-Sleep Questionnaire (MQS) and the Zarit Burden Scale. After six months of training, the groups were evaluated by the same instruments. For data analysis were used descriptive statistics (mean and standard deviation) and two-way ANOVA for repeated measures in all the variables, with significance level of p<0.05.
