Estabilidade dimensional da resina acrílica para coroas provisórias em função de diferentes tipos de processamento / Dimensional stability of acrylic resin for provisional crowns for different types of processing

David Alejandro García-López 27 April 2009 (has links)
The importance of the provisional restorations in the oral rehabilitation treatment is undebated. The materials used for the fabrication of this type of restoration, are, as well, of great importance, as much as in function of the processing technique as in their quality and characteristics, due the fact that of them depend the longevity, adaptation and quality of the restorations. The mixing and processing technique influence the physical properties of acrylic resins, what could interfere with the adaptation of the provisional crowns. For these reasons, the present study aimed at evaluating the dimensional stability of an acrylic resin (Dencor®), used for fabrication of provisional crowns. Five types of processing techniques were evaluated: I thermal polymerization using fast polymerization liquid and flask; II - autopolimerization under pressure in stainless steel matrix; III - autopolimerization using bead brush technique to build the sample; IV - autopolimerization after mixture (powder + liquid) in dappen dish and insertion in stainless steel matrix at the sand phase; V - autopolimerization after mixture in dappen dish with insertion in the stainless steel matrix at the plastic phase. For each type of processing technique, 10 samples were made. Dimensional stability was evaluated by means of steel matrices made following the ADA specification no 19. The samples were stored in distilled water at a temperature of 37oC for 6 months. During this time they were examined with the optic microscope Mitutoyo with 20x magnification. The results were subjected to the analysis of variance (Test of Tukey) at the significance level of 5%. From the results obtained, it could be observed that all samples had dimensional alterations in the first 7 days independent of the technique used. In days 30, 90, 180 there were no statisticaly significant dimensional alteration.

The accuracy of measurement and assembly process using surface plates depends mainly on these surfaces flatness. If the surface plate does not meet the flatness specification, it is ineffective to apply high technology instruments of measurement. This research proposes is to develop a flatness measurement system for surface plates using two electronic comparators attached to the coordinate measuring machine (CMM). During a measurement process, the purpose is to evaluate the workpiece profile. However, the signals picked up by sensors include the workpiece profile and component motion error. In order to separate these errors, error separation techniques can be applied. The proposed measurement system has an electronic interface to collect data from the CMM optical scale and from the electronic comparators. The collected data are sent to a computer prepared with an algorithm for applying the error separation equations and for compute the flatness error. A surface was measured using the proposed measurement system. To evaluate its efficiency, the results were compared to the measurements made using electronic level and laser interferometric system.

Zheng, Zhikun, Zhang, Xianghui, Neumann, Christof, Emmrich, Daniel, Winter, Andreas, Vieker, Henning, Liu, Wei, Lensen, Marga, Gölzhäuser, Armin, Turchanin, Andrey 11 December 2015 (has links)
van der Waals heterostructures meet other low-dimensional materials. Stacking of about 1 nm thick nanosheets with out-of-plane anchor groups functionalized with fullerenes integrates this zero-dimensional material into layered heterostructures with a well-defined chemical composition and without degrading the mechanical properties. The developed modular and highly applicable approach enables the incorporation of other low-dimensional materials, e.g. nanoparticles or nanotubes, into heterostructures significantly extending the possible building blocks.

Multi-dimensional barriers to the development of renewables energy

Makhoba, Phiwayinkosi Lucas 23 February 2013 (has links)
While some of the developed and emerging economies are registering phenomenal growth in their renewable energy industries, it would appear that there are still a number of factors that are limiting the renewable energy to its potential worldwide. This paper applies a theoretical framework using the systems thinking to examine three possible multi-dimensional factors that are barriers to be development of renewable energy in South Africa. The objective was to use a qualitative research to investigate further the barrier interconnection and multi-dimensional barriers limiting renewable energy development using the South Africa market for sampling and interviews. The methodology employed involved a literature review. In addition, a questionnaire was designed and interviews were conducted to ascertain the prevalence of such barrier multi-dimensional and interconnection. The results obtained were analysed using qualitative method. These analyses revealed that the possible multi-dimensional barriers that were identified namely technology; pricing and costing; policy and regulations; and market performance are valid for South Africa. In addition, even though the results highlighted, as identified initially that technology have a significant impact as a linkage, the results suggest that the regulatory framework have a more significant linkage and effect on the relationship and interconnection. / Dissertation (MBA)--University of Pretoria, 2012. / Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) / Unrestricted

Existence of solutions for stochastic Navier-Stokes alpha and Leray alpha models of fluid turbulence and their relations to the stochastic Navier-Stokes equations

Deugoue, Gabriel 16 June 2011 (has links)
In this thesis, we investigate the stochastic three dimensional Navier-Stokes-∝ model and the stochastic three dimensional Leray-∝ model which arise in the modelling of turbulent flows of fluids. We prove the existence of probabilistic weak solutions for the stochastic three dimensional Navier-Stokes-∝ model. Our model contains nonlinear forcing terms which do not satisfy the Lipschitz conditions. We also discuss the uniqueness. The proof of the existence combines the Galerkin approximation and the compactness method. We also study the asymptotic behavior of weak solutions to the stochastic three dimensional Navier-Stokes-∝ model as ∝ approaches zero in the case of periodic box. Our result provides a new construction of the weak solutions for the stochastic three dimensional Navier-Stokes equations as approximations by sequences of solutions of the stochastic three dimensional Navier-Stokes-∝ model. Finally, we prove the existence and uniqueness of strong solution to the stochastic three dimensional Leray-∝ equations under appropriate conditions on the data. This is achieved by means of the Galerkin approximation combines with the weak convergence methods. We also study the asymptotic behavior of the strong solution as alpha goes to zero. We show that a sequence of strong solution converges in appropriate topologies to weak solutions of the stochastic three dimensional Navier-Stokes equations. All the results in this thesis are new and extend works done by several leading experts in both deterministic and stochastic models of fluid dynamics. / Thesis (PhD)--University of Pretoria, 2010. / Mathematics and Applied Mathematics / unrestricted

Classification of Five-Dimensional Lie Algebras with One-dimensional Subalgebras Acting as Subalgebras of the Lorentz Algebra

Rozum, Jordan 01 May 2015 (has links)
Motivated by A. Z. Petrov's classification of four-dimensional Lorentzian metrics, we provide an algebraic classification of the isometry-isotropy pairs of four-dimensional pseudo-Riemannian metrics admitting local slices with five-dimensional isometries contained in the Lorentz algebra. A purely Lie algebraic approach is applied with emphasis on the use of Lie theoretic invariants to distinguish invariant algebra-subalgebra pairs. This method yields an algorithm for identifying isometry-isotropy pairs subject to the aforementioned constraints.
