Analýza obratového cyklu v potravinářském řetězci / Analysis of the Turnover Ratio in the Food-processing IndustryKostihová, Kristýna January 2010 (has links)
The goal of my Master's Thesis is to describe the cash flows and profitability of milk and dairy products. The thesis is trying to define the whole process starting with the milk production till the product is bought by the final customer. The calculation of the net working capital of the farmer's cooperation, dairy works and retail stores is also included in my thesis. In this respect, the thesis deals with the problem of return of payables and receivables and the duration of the cash cycle. The thesis also calculates the product margin and profitability of some of the diary products. It focuses on price setting, if it is done according to the specific costs or if it is set by the market. The results of my thesis are based on eleven agricultural companies, six dairy works and three retail markets. A research is also included trying to answer the question weather the dairy products are essential goods, or if demand for them can be influenced by price. This research is based on answers of 85 respondents. The conclusion of this thesis is a fact that margin is not fairy set and the profit is redistributed on the basis of the market strength rather than by the value added. It also confirms the theory, that the closer the company is to the customer, the higher profit it usually makes.

Analýza problémů spojených s aplikací daně z přidané hodnoty v oblasti kultury / Analysis of problematic issues related to the application of VAT on cultureSvěcená, Michaela January 2009 (has links)
This thesis analyzes the different VAT measures applied to non-profit orchestras and orchestras established as business. The analysis is based on the comparison of the rules of the Czech VAT legislation for both types of orchestras and their simulation on the example of a fictional orchestra. However, the simulation is based on data from one of domestic professional non-profit orchestra. The analysis shows that the exemption of cultural services can be unfavorable for large non-profit orchestras carrying out a diverse range of activities. The consequences following the application of different VAT measures are stated in the last part of the thesis.

Value Generation and Capture in the Agri-Food Value ChainWesley Allen Davis (7046468) 13 August 2019 (has links)

How do food and agribusiness firms capture more profit in
their value chain? How do innovative managers identify attractive adjacency and
disintermediation opportunities? What options are available to a manager facing
these questions and what economic incentives might motivate their strategic
behavior? This study sought to address these timely questions, more effectively
understand the strategic decisions facing food and agribusiness managers
relative to value chain profit pools, and uncover some of the hidden dynamics
between chain participants. Specifically, this study defines and quantifies the
U.S. animal protein industry value chain across three species – hogs, cattle,
and broiler chickens. The study found evidence to suggest that governance
structure has strong ties to value generation and that intra-value chain
dynamics impact price transmission between chain nodes. Further, this study creates
a foundation for other researchers to continue examining agri-food value chain
dynamics and its link to firm-level profitability, value capture, and long-term
sustainability.

Analysis and Optimization of the User Interface for an Effective Altruism Charity Application : Implementing gamification with the purpose to enhance user engagement and increase user retentionKrig, Billy January 2019 (has links)
Gamification has previously demonstrated successful results when it comes to increasing the user retention rate in many different sectors. Non-profit charity organisations have for the last 10 years had a retention rate that is below 50%. This thesis investigates the possibility of increasing the user retention rate in the non-profit charity application The Life You Can Save(TLYCS) by implementing gamification. The gamification mechanic that was chosen for implementation was achievements. To measure understandability the Post-Study System Usability Questionnaire was used, the four satisfaction scores of the questionnaire were measured with a number between one and seven. Sven represented the highest number and one represented the lowest number. All four satisfaction scores had an average number that was higher than 6. Because of the previously proved successful results of gamification and a usable implementation of achievements in the mobile application TLYCS the possibility of an increased user retention rate is assessed to be high.

How funding affects service delivery among non-profit organizations in JohannesburgSibanda, Joyce 11 September 2009 (has links)
ABSTRACT
The primary purpose of the study was to explore how funding affected service delivery among Nonprofit Organizations (NPOs) in Johannesburg, given the important role these organizations play in contributing to social development in South Africa. The study was undertaken among 15 NPO organizations based in Johannesburg and located in various service fields. A semi-structured interview schedule comprising open-ended and close-ended questions was utilized to collect information. Descriptive statistics were employed to analyze closed-ended questions whilst thematic content analysis was used to analyze open-ended items. The main finding that emerged from the study was that NPOs that were surveyed suffered from a diversity of challenges emanating from insufficient and at times delayed funding, particularly by state departments such as the Department of Social Development. The problems faced by these NPOs were found to be predominantly human resources related. These organizations were unable to attract skilled professional staff because their funds did not permit them to offer market-related packages. In addition, these NPOs suffered from high labour turnover because employees tended to leave these organizations in pursuit of greener pastures in government departments and the private sector. The sector also experienced inadequately funded programmes and an inability to expand their services to the wider populations due to inadequate funding. The NPOs that were surveyed had not engaged in entrepreneurial activities on a scale sufficiently extensive to wean them off donor funding or over-reliance on such funding. Self-sustainability was found to be still in the embryonic stage. Moreover, the relationship between the sector and the state was found to be characterized by a lack of faith and confidence on the part of the NPOs surveyed, suggesting a ‘troubled’ partnership between the two. The findings of the study suggest the need for the research project to be replicated on a wider sample in different provinces. Since the study focused on formally registered NPOs in terms of the Nonprofit Organizations Act of 1997, future research needs to investigate the funding challenges faced by smaller mainly informal/ unregistered community-based organizations that form an integral part of the nonprofit sector in South Africa and offer an array of services to their communities. Furthermore, the findings of this study could potentially be used as a basis for policy formulation and analysis by policy makers as they appear to have implications for re-assessing funding policies in respect of NPOs.

The dichotomous nature of capitalism: can the profit motive be reconciled to ethical business practice?Willcock, Graham J. 18 November 2010 (has links)
Abstract
This paper presents the thesis that, in certain circumstances and despite the dichotomous nature of capitalism, economic self-interest, or profit, may be reconciled to ethical business practice. These circumstances require that: i) a business enterprise be conducted outside of a traditional business model, in what will be referred to as a stakeholder model of business; ii) this stakeholder model must be grounded in a Rawlsian conception of contractualism, where all players are ‘free, equal, rational and reasonable’, with the emphasis on reasonableness; and where, iii) matters of Aristotelean character are the currency for determining reasonableness and the degree to which players are able to agree, or at least not reject, a particular course of action.
