With the rapid expansion of e-commerce, the Web has become an excellent source for gathering customer opinions (or so-called customer reviews). Customer reviews are essential for merchants or product manufacturers to understand general responses of customers on their products for product or marketing campaign improvement. In addition, customer reviews can enable merchants better understand specific preferences of individual customers and facilitates making effective marketing decisions. Prior data mining research mainly concentrates on analyzing customer demographic, attitudinal, psychographic, transactional, and behavioral data for supporting customer relationship management and marketing decision making and did not pay attention to the use of customer reviews as additional source for marketing intelligence. Thus, the purpose of this research is to develop an efficient and effective opinion summarization technique. Specifically, we will propose a semantic-based product feature extraction technique (SPE) which aims at improving the existing product feature extraction technique and is desired to enhance the overall opinion summarization effectiveness.

The purpose of this thesis is to examine how the professional and social roles of clinical psychologists are described in Turkey, how clinical psychologists evaluate these roles, and which factors are affecting the role definitions. It was hypothesized that there would be differences between the role definitions of the public, the role definitions of the other professions working with psychologists and the role definitions of psychologists themselves. Also, it was expected that the public would not differentiate the professions &lsquo / psychologist&rsquo / , &lsquo / clinical psychologist&rsquo / , and &lsquo / psychiatrist&rsquo / . Participants were 27 professions working with psychologists, 27 psychologists, and 105 citizens from Ankara, istanbul, Mugla, and Aydin. The data were gathered by administering 3 versions of Perceptions about Psychologists Questionnaires developed by the writer. Content Analyses were done to examine the data. The results indicated that although public had a general idea about the role definitions of clinical psychologists, it was also unable to differentiate the three relate professions. The results also summarized how clinical psychologists were understood in Turkey, and showed the factors related to the comprehension process. The findings, and their implications with suggestions for future research and practice, were discussed in the light of relevant literature.

It also motivates the Word-of -Mouth market ing when the commercial advertisement has been skipped by end consumers times and times again . There are all kinds of updated word-of-mouth marketing develop ed such as: @WOM, Viral marketing, Blog marketing. It is a case to leverage the word -of-mouth marketing in brand building for a pure Men¡¦s skin care brand . This study is to explore the key successful factors for appling the Word-Of-Mouth marketing within a new market, especialy for an independent men¡¦s skin care brand. There are interview s for brand-owner and on-line ¡Vretailer, and questionary for consumers in this project. The first finding is that men ¡¦s skin care concept is more acceptable than before . It becomes more popular to purchase the products by men¡¦s their own. Further more, men start to try the suncare and anti -oil products in the ir daily regimen. However, female is still playing the key roll in decision making for her boy friend or families. We also found, the female rarely know n the difference between men¡¦s and women¡¦s skin care regimen. Even she might be an expertise in her own skin care needs. As a result, we should provide the free sample with ¡§You must know information¡¨ to the key person, SHE, then influent her boy friend and families. It is how we differentiate the independent men¡¦s skin care brand. The second finding is most of the heavy internet users are the followers; they are not interested in the men¡¦s skin care information. Therefore, it is hardly to trigger off the tipping point if we target the male as early adaptor via @WOM. In another words, we can not exect a big boom if the @WOM didn¡¦t reach women. In summary, the word-of-mouth marketing for men¡¦s skin care brand, first thing is to create the truly words via the early users, the men who already experienced the oil-control product and/or suncare products. The secondary is to broadcast the words from early users thru @WOM, PR exposures, free samples to reach women as sneezers. The last, to roll out a new topic ensure the on going spreading for brands every 12 weeks.

Spiral of silence has been published for 30 years, and been tested in many areas, however these test are not all qualified. This study aims to interpret spiral of silence theory and to inspect if there are any misuse in these test. First, we interpret these theory form the origin of the theory and it¡¦s deducing process, and built an theory model. Then inspect those test based on this model. The result discovered that most of these test stressed on testing people¡¦s willingness to speak out, and misleaded to compare one¡¦s opinion and one¡¦s perception of majority. This comprehension gap may comes from the wrong variable definition in the operational models. For this sake, this study offered a theory model to overcome this gap.

In a democratic society, the number of public opinion documents increase with days, and there is a pressing need for automatically classifying these documents. Traditional approach for classifying documents involves the techniques of segmenting words and the use of stop words, corpus, and grammar analysis for retrieving the key terms of documents. However, with the emergence of new terms, the traditional methods that leverage dictionary or thesaurus may incur lower accuracy. Therefore, this study proposes a new method that does not require the prior establishment of a dictionary or thesaurus, and is applicable to documents written in any language and documents containing unstructured text. Specifically, the classification method employs genetic algorithm for achieving this goal. In this method, each training document is represented by several chromosomes, and based on the gene values of these chromosomes, the characteristic terms of the document are determined. The fitness function, which is required by the genetic algorithm for evaluating the fitness of an evolved chromosome, considers the similarity to the chromosomes of documents of other types. This study used data FAQ of e-mail box of Taipei city mayor for evaluating the proposed method by varying the length of documents. The results show that the proposed method achieves the average accuracy rate of 89%, the average precision rate of 47%, and the average recall rate of 45%. In addition, F-measure can reach up to 0.7. The results confirms that the number of training documents, content of training documents, the similarity between the types of documents, and the length of the documents all contribute to the effectiveness of the proposed method.

<p>The use of mobile ad-hoc networks (MANETs) is growing. The issue of security in MANETs is not trivial, since such networks have no fixed infrastructure and therefor centralised security is not applicable. MANETs are also more sensitive to attacks due to their wireless communication channels and their spontaneous nature.</p><p>All kind of cooperation requires a sense of trust. The opinion about trust in other entities can be used as a mean to dynamically allow for secure cooperation in MANETs, as soft security. And also to counter some of the inherited security problems of MANETs.</p><p>To use opinions as a security paradigm in MANETs the opinions about other nodes has to be spread as reputation about a node. This reputation spreading can be done through spreading of opinions or the spreading of evidences about a nodes behaviour.</p><p>In this work evidence and reputation spreading are compared to each other. This comparison shows that they are quite similar from a security point of view but that they differ in scalability.</p>

Voter, </em>Bryan Caplan concludes that irrational public opinion leads to bad policies, that are overall bad for the country and the citizens. By irrational public opinion, he essentially means that people have opinions that are plain wrong. By taking a stand against the government based on these faulty opinions, the government is forced to adopt bad policies, in order to stay in power.</p><p>By looking at four different cases, I attempt to see if the situation can be deemed to be similar in Sweden, albeit with a different approach to what is rational, than the one used by Caplan. The question I ask is if irrational public opinion forces the government to adopt bad policies? I expand the view of rationality from the economic view to be more considerate of other factors and priorities that are very much part of everyday life. The emphazis is on the gathering of information, which is facilitated by widespread access to the Internet and relatively high levels of education. The aspect of leadership, or the possible lack thereof, is also considered.</p><p>The examined issues are; The new law about communication surveillance (FRA-lagen), the lowered limit on health insurance, the changes in unemployment compensation and the vote to enter the European Monetary Union. While it can be seen that there were likely arguments antagonistic to the viewpoint of the government, they are unlikely to have had any major effect. Instead, the protests that were possibly of any consequence, were typically well-informed, from sources that we would expect to be familiar with the issue at heart. As for leadership, it is more often than not the case that the intentions are good, but the “sales-effort” is lacking. In some aspects, we might even claim that the government failed at its job.</p><p>Ultimately, the conclusion we reach is more optimistic than the one Bryan Caplan reached. While it is true that this might be mainly because we use different definitions of rationality and different sources of evidence (and examine different countries), it does not serve to undermine the result. Despite the fact that the cases were chosen on the basis that they were likely to prove the existence of irrationality, they did not.</p><p> </p>
