Transformácia IT v globálnej spoločnosti / Transformation of IT within a global corporation

Slota, Juraj January 2008 (has links)
This thesis deals with the changes in the organizational structure of the IT department at Procter & Gamble over the past 9 years. During this time, the originally functionally and geographically scattered IT function, has been integrated into a centralized function and renamed to Information and Decision Solutions, to mark its shift in direction from a support function to a true strategic partner of the various PG businesses. This function was then further integrated in to the Global Business Service shared-service organization. The non-strategic services have been outsourced, mainly to Hewlett Packard, to allow GBS to focus on IT-driven innovation and bringing more value to the Company. To achieve this goal, GBS has undergone several changes in its structure, to emerge today as an organization with a "hypertext-bureaucracy" hybrid structure. This allows for a flexible, process-based approach, enabling to GBS address the biggest priorities as they arise. The changes have nevertheless brought about some difficulties, whose implications and ideas for mitigation are explored towards the end of this thesis.

Verksamheten på mötesanläggningar i Sverige : En studie från de anställdas perspektiv

Karlsson, Jonna, Olsson, Viktoria January 2016 (has links)
The purpose of this essay is to create a greater insight into the Swedish meetings industry by examining three major meeting facilities in Sweden, and to create this insight through the employees at the surveyed facilities. Our starting point was that the most basic elements of a meeting facility include the physical structure and the organizational structure. The aim has thus been to highlight the employees' perspective within these parts of the operations that is perceived as most significant for the conduct of each meeting operation. This study is primarily a qualitative one using semi-structured interviews conducted to gain a deeper understanding of the employees' vision of the operations at each meeting facility. The interviews were conducted with a total of nine employees, three of which were carried out on the spot, three by phone and three via e-mail. The essay is based on the responses of the respondents and previous research. The results of this study shows that the parts within physical structure and the organizational structure that the employees highlights as the most important for the conduct of the operations are presented as location, flexibility, sustainability and co-operations.

A Study of Organizational Structures Impacting Noncredit Workforce Education and their Effects on Determining Workforce Development Strategies in Louisiana's Community and Technical Colleges

Wainwright, William S. 17 December 2011 (has links)
The Lumina Foundation (2007) indicates that 54 million adults in the workforce are seeking noncredit education opportunities in a credit course/program delivery system designed to meet the needs of traditional college students. Working adults seeking continuing education coupled with dislocated workers as a result of changing economic situations represents this growing population. Community and technical colleges in Louisiana benefit from a for-credit formula funding model and do not benefit from a formula funding mechanism that supports noncredit education enrollments. As Louisiana’s community and technical colleges face continuous budget challenges resulting from economic recession, college leaders are making critical decisions in restructuring college business models. These models are becoming increasingly important as they support increased revenues and sustainable ventures that will carry the college through difficult times. The significance of this study and contributions associated with findings provide important insights into decision making, organizational change, and policy factors considered in determining workforce development strategies. Utilizing Multiple Criteria Decision Making by (Zeleny) 1981 in addition to Mintzberg’s Five Basic Parts of an organization (1979) as a conceptual framework, causes and effects of decision making on organizational structures and workforce development strategies were examined and analyzed providing insight and recommendations for future consideration. Findings in this study suggest that as organizational structures are challenged due to simultaneous issues related to economic recovery and reduced budgets, noncredit education is impacting strategic decision making by college leaders evidenced by current college reorganization efforts, joint credit and noncredit curriculum development activities, and innovation associated with enhanced workforce development strategies. Strategický přístup ke struktuře entity: Tvorba procesně založené organizační struktury / Strategic Approach to an Entity Setup: Designing a Process-based Organizational Structure

Stříteský, Vladimír January 2019 (has links)
The focus of this thesis is to provide a complex framework for design of process-based organizational structure, which is currently lacking in the academic literature. Thesis starts with development of a complex process improvement framework, continues by developing process/activity owner assignment framework and connects the process management with design of organizational structure. The developed framework consists of two parts, the "As Is" analysis, capturing the current state of affairs and the "To Be" design developing an optimal arrangement. A basic evaluation tool is provided to assess the effects of changes to the process structure. Practical part applies newly developed framework in a business entity. The process improvement is used to design new process-based organizational structure, which in terms of efficiency surpasses the current matrix organizational structure. A Structure for Impact : Using benchmarking to revise the organization structure of an INGO

Johansson, Julia January 2019 (has links)
This thesis investigates what the possible benefits and challenges are with different organization structures from the perspective of an international non-governmental organization (INGO). Based on learnings from other organizations it is examined what a revised structure could look like for Organization X in order to maximize their use of internal resources. The aim of the study is to achieve a structure more aligned with the strategic priorities of Organization X. As well as contribute to the field of organization theory from an INGO perspective. To achieve this benchmarking against other organizations is used to collect learnings in relation to organizational design. The learnings are analyzed in relation to organization theory and common challenges for INGOs. The result and analysis show that benchmarking can be used to gather valuable learnings regarding organizational design for INGOs in general and Organization X in particular. Two options for structural revisions for Organization X are presented. It is suggested that the second option should be implemented, at least as a first step, due to the current strategic priorities of the organization and the larger risks associated with option one. If implemented, the revisions proposed in this thesis should enable increased flexibility and the freeing up of resources, resulting in increased capability for fundraising and increased impact.

The Effects of Organizatoinal Life Cycle on Human Resource Management Practices

Hsieh, Ya-chun 13 June 2006 (has links)
Although the organizational life cycle is inevitable, each stage could be extended by some means or other. Besides, continuous innovation and revival could enable the organization not to move toward the decline stage easily or even to die. The Taiwanese industries are facing common new challenges--the internal market is not large enough and the global competition is becoming more rigid. While local industries, under a ceaseless change environment of innovation, are unable to compete with those from other major nations in terms of capital, cost, marketing channels and other resources, the specialized talents are becoming un-replaceable great assets to the local industries and the application of human resource management practices appears more and more vital. Therefore, this study attempts to explore the characteristics of organizational life cycle as well as the impact to and the human resources management practices by the linkage of the organizational life cycle and the human resources management practices. The purpose of this study is to investigate the inter-relationship between organizational life cycle and human resource management practices. In this study, organizational life cycle is defined as independent variable, and the organization life cycle various stages are defined by the eight constructs of the organization situation and the organization structure. On the other hand the human resource management practices are defined as dependent variable, including HRM planning, employment management, performance appraisal, training and development, and compensation. This study adopts a questionnaire survey and targets on various industries. As far as the data analysis is concerned this study adopts factor analysis, cluster analysis, and one-way ANOVA to define the various of organizational life cycle. Furthermore, using factor analysis and one-way ANOVA to examine the effect of organizational life cycle on human resources management practices. The findings of the study indicate as follows. (1) The organizational life cycle may be differentiated into five stages: start-up, growth, maturity, decline, and diversification.
