Triathlon: an Original Screenplay

Buchholz, Robert Henry 05 1900 (has links)
A young man, out of college and work, sets out to make his mark on the world, by winning the endurance sport of the eighties: the Hawaiian Ironman Triathlon. As he eats, sleeps and breaths "Ironman," he shuts others out of his life because he feels that he must do it alone for the victory to be genuine; a philosophy that has been dogging him all his life.

Of Variegated Shadows

Mita, Harold Y. 05 1900 (has links)
Of Variegated Shadows is an original composition for wind ensemble. The purpose of the composition is to contribute a work to college level wind ensemble literature which employs established instrumental techniques and explores the various colors or timbres of the ensemble. The work is a single movement of approximately 15 - 20 minutes duration. It is divided into three continuous sections, each reflecting a different character or mood. A transition couples the first and second sections and a coda concludes the composition with a brief return of the opening section. Textures of the piece are transparent with an emphasis given to the blending of different colors in the ensemble. Instrumentation includes antique cymbals, vibraphone and tam-tam to add subtle shades of color. Thematic materials woven into the texture are linearly constructed as well as vertically layered and fragmented. There is no order or system in which pitches occur, although intervals used reflect the motivic structures in the work.

Skillnader mellan två versionerav boken Pippi Långstrump  -en komparativ undersökning mellan originalet från 1945och en senare upplaga från 2016

Giaever Alm, Klara, Smedberg, Ida January 2020 (has links)

Breakdown

Kappaz, Philip C., 1956- 12 1900 (has links)
Breakdown is a 17 minute, single movement work for orchestra in five sections. It is scored for 2 flutes, 2 oboes, 2 Bb clarinets, 2 bassoons, 3 Bb trumpets, 4 horns in F, 3 trombones, tuba, percussion, piano, and strings. The percussion consists of a tam-tam, 5 break drums, 4 timbales, 2 gourds, chimes, marimba, vibraphone, snare drum, 2 field drums, bass drum and tympani. The inspiration for this work is the poetry of Bruce Weigl which deals with many facets of the Vietnam experience. One particular work from his collection Song of Napalm, the poem "Breakdown", provided the basis for the emotional and structural content of the music. There are two primary sources of pitch material in the music of Breakdown, both of which have links to the Vietnam War. The name of a soldier who was killed in Vietnam, Miles Cooper, was used to generate a basic pitch set and a series of variation sets that provide much of the harmonic and melodic material in Breakdown. There derived sets are supported by the use of phrases and motives from the hymn Jewels, which celebrates the love of God for his children, and providesan indirect link to the subject of the piece, the war in Vietnam.

Gentrifikace Karlína z pohledu starousedlíků / Gentrification of Karlín from the perspective of original residents

Vaněk, Vavřinec January 2021 (has links)
This MA thesis focuses on gentrification of Prague's Karlín district. It examines the issue through the optics of original residents and deals with the following questions: How do original residents perceive the change of their district? What is the impact of gentrification on their everyday lives? In order to answer these questions, qualitative research was used. The data was collected through interviews and participant and non-participant observation. The thesis provides an overview of leading theories of gentrification (such as Smith's Rent gap theory, Ley's consumer explanation theory, and Florida's creative class theory), which are applied to the obtained data. The theoretical chapter of the thesis summarizes these theories. This part also includes a brief history of the Karlín district and provides an overview of the existing research on Karlín's gentrification. The topics that appeared in the interviews with original residents form a structure of this chapter; these interviews are also quoted directly. Keywords: gentrification, Karlín, original residents, displacement

The Mystic Trumpeter

Dorn, Gerhardt George, 1911- 01 1900 (has links)
The Mystic Trumpeter is intended to reflect and comment on the meaning of the poem of the same name featured in Walt Whitman's Leaves of Grass. Formally the individual movements are approximately simple territory ternary in form; however, cyclical treatment of the opening motive is the main structural concept of the work, and its appearance throughout the composition is controlled entirely by the recurring connotations of the poetry.
