Heroes Are Born Then Made

Miesak, Edward 05 1900 (has links)
Heroes Are Born Then Made is a theatre piece involving live actors on stage, and live music originating from an orchestra pit. The script and music is original. The music is meant to literally depict actions and emotions on stage whether the actors are present or not. The duration of the entire production is about two and one-half hours long. Six main actors are used with additional walk-ons. Sixteen musicians are required to make up the orchestra which is organized into a woodwind quartet, a brass trio, a string quartet, a piano, and a percussion quartet. The play is based on the author's conception of how people tend to treat each other when someone is caught at a disadvantage. Specifically it is a depiction of the conflict involved when the minor characters discover that the main character is trying to do something quite different from their definition of "normal."

The Remembering: A Play in Three Acts

Ford, Merle D. 08 1900 (has links)
The Remembering, an original drama set in rural Georgia in 1864, is about three ex-slaves, two men and an old woman, all runaways, whose fictional encounter in a deserted church sets off a series of conflicts and, significantly, incidents of remembering past conflicts which lead them to an understanding of the war, slavery, freedom, and individual responsibility. Many of the events which the slaves, naive witnesses to a great moment in history when mobilized modern warfare was being born, and the nearby Union soldiers remember reflect upon the pervasiveness, speed, and destructiveness of the new campaign. The efforts of the characters to survive in that harsh and bitter war represent one of the primary concerns of this dramatic study.

Simulační verifikace komplexního technologického projektu / Simulated verification of complex technology project

Varjan, Matúš Unknown Date (has links)
In the introduction, doctoral thesis as a complex technological project uses the summary title Stability of production. Stability of production is defined as a maintaining the required properties of the system over a given time period. Stability of production, based on the literature study included: – generally known systems and concepts, for example Process Stability, System Stability, Toyota Production System, Lean Manufacturing, etc. – less-known systems and concepts, for example Maintaining the fidelity of the production program, Stable order-sequence concept. The practical part of the doctoral thesis is focused on the less-known concept: Stable order-sequence. The task of the Stable order-sequence is to follow the sequence of orders given by the planned production program in the course of the production and at the end of production. Maintaining the sequence of the orders has a positive experience in the logistics activities between the final producer and its suppliers. As it was found by the planned experiment for a full factory plan, the sequence of orders in the material flow of original equipment manufacturer is influenced mainly by: – the cause of the removing orders from material flow, – the effect of the causes LIFO stack vs. branched material flow, – the effect of the causes LIFO stack vs. branched material flow vs. the removing from the material flow. By the analysis of Stable order-sequence, it was found that the methodology of the concept contains deficiencies. It does not state how to choose for example the size of the time period, time interval, data editing etc. By this lack, the subject can skew the results in the evaluation of the indicator PFT0 up to 4 %. Or by using of suitable adjustment, the value of the indicator PFT0 can be improved more than 50 %. To test the concept of a Stable order-sequence in practice has been designed technological project with the support of discrete-event simulation. It was about the implementation of new management logic to the stack behind the welding of original equipment manufacturer. The new logic of management was designed with an emphasis on Stable order-sequence concept, to arrange the orders in process according to the planned sequence. On the base of the functionality verification of the new stack logic, it was found that the logic affects the sequence of the orders, but not fundamentally. In tracking the hourly intervals for 25th calendar week 2013, the value of PFT0 was not improved in 37 cases, the value remains in 30 cases and the value was improved by the value of the median 18,68 % in 30 cases orders.

Le mythe de la caverne. L’interprétation originale de Platon face à l’approche originaire de Heidegger / The myth of the cave. The original interpretation of Plato juxtaposed with Heidegger’s originary approach

Néria, William 03 June 2017 (has links)
The myth of Plato’s cave which opens Book VII of the Republic, has its roots in the age-old intellectual heritage of humanity. The various interpretations of Plato’s cave, have, each, elucidated a particular element of the Platonic myth. Thus, the meaning of the myth of the cave is not invariable ; on the contrary, it is subject to change as the particular difficulty of its interpretation paves the way for a high degree of variability in the meaning of each symbol and how it is defined in relation to the others. In fact and from the outset, the original signification of the myth of the cave has eluded the entire interpretive philosophical tradition that follows it; this is why Heidegger massively reinvested in this tale in bypassing all previous interpretations in order to offer an originary approach. But can one reasonably assert that Heidegger’s originary interpretation gives the final word on the original meaning of the myth ? This thesis intends to show, on the contrary, that the myth of the cave holds an original Platonic meaning that has never been completely developed and elaborated by its interpreters. Indeed, if Book VII of the Republic constitutes Plato’s original commentary on the myth of the cave, this native Platonic commentary could hold all of the metaphysical, epistemological and political philosophemes necessary to powerfully elucidate the symbolism of the myth of the cave in a fresh light. Would this in fact draw out an original and unprecedented Platonic meaning ? And would it approach Heidegger’s originary interpretation, or distance itself from it irreducibly ?

Upphovsrättens balans : en idéanalys av bibliotekssfärens remissvar på Ds 2003:35. / The balance of the copyright : an analysis of ideas in the referral statements from the library sphere to Ds 2003:35.

Crespo, Alejandro January 2010 (has links)
The aim of the study is to examine ideas surrounding copyright law and related rights appearing in the referral statements that the participants of the library sphere gave to the department writ Ds 2003:35. These ideas reflect the positions the library sphere take regarding issues surrounding the copyright law and related rights. The department writ was preceded by a directive from the European Union; Directive 2001/29/EC of the European parliament and of the council of 22 may 2001 on the harmonization of certain aspects of copyright and related rights in the information society. The writ Ds 2003:35 was later followed by a proposition from the government which was co-herent with the preceding writ. The empirical material has been analyzed with a starting point in the polarizations, artist/audience, private/public and original/copy, presented in PhD Martin Fredriksson’s book Skapandets rätt. His study shows that these polarizations have been evident in the discourse surrounding copyright in a historical retrospect and are still key ideas in the present discourse. The ideas presented by the library sphere are mainly dominated by the idea of the public good. The participants in the library sphere are critical to the imbalance of the proposed legislations, and assert that the private interests are given a dominating signification. Ideas surrounding original and copy as well as author and audience is mainly discussed from a practical point of view. The library sphere positions itself as an objective interested party who try to attain a balance in copyright law and related rights.
