Coding in P-12 Education from the Beginning to the End

Nivens, Ryan Andrew 02 June 2017 (has links)
Our focus is the value of computer coding knowledge as a new literacy in the information economy. Examples of differences between “scripting” and “computer programming” will be illustrated. Our goal is that all middle and high school students would have some experience with coding before graduation. We see the mathematics class as a natural fit for learning this new literacy. Using Raspberry Pi computing devices, participants will try some hands-on coding with data sets that are familiar and relevant. We will conclude with a summary of the efforts made by ETSU to increase the coding literacy in Northeast Tennessee.

A Limited Review on the Condition of Multicultural Art Education over the Past Decade

Yang, Gao 04 December 2006 (has links)
The articles that recorded multicultural art lessons in the US P-12 classrooms in School Arts during the past decade revealed the condition of US multicultural art education from three aspects. First, the teachers’ interest in multiculturalism has been stable in the past decade. Second, the lessons covered multiple cultures unequally. Among pluralistic US cultures, Native American culture was favored while Asian-American, Arab-American, and Muslim-American cultures were neglected. Among global cultures, Mexican and African cultures were represented most often. Only 12.4% of world countries were represented. Third, most multicultural art projects were stereotyped, though some innovative projects emerged. Many art teachers selected cultural content to teach based on classroom population and local culture. The art teachers tended to teach the meanings of US ethnic cultures better than global cultures. The alteration of cultural materials and techniques caused the loss or change of cultural meanings.

IL PROBLEMA DELL'INNOVAZIONE IN ZOOTECNIA IN PROSPETTIVA STORICA: IL CASO DELLA FRISONA ITALIANA

MARIGLIANO, MARCO 16 December 2019 (has links)
With this research we wanted to reconstruct the different historical phases and the reasons that, during the XX century, led the Italian Friesian breed of cow, known for its high milk productivity, to become the most widespread breed on the Peninsula. Besides a reconstruction of the facts, we wanted to understand the strategies for the technological innovation in the field of zootechnics during the last ten years. The work starts with the emergence, between the XVII and the XIX century in Great Britain, in the Low Countries and in the United States of a special attention for animal reproduction. Then, we examined the introduction in Italy of Dutch Friesian heads, from the end of the XIX century, and of North-American Holstein-Friesian, in the period between the two world wars. Finally, we reconstructed the process of improvement of the population here analysed, which led to a new sub-breed, later exported. Finally, we analysed the role of institutions and associations, increased after the Second World War, by reconstructing the relations between them.

IL GRUPPO LOMBARDO DELL'UNIONE CRISTIANA IMPRENDITORI DIRIGENTI (UCID), DALLA FONDAZIONE (1945) AI PRIMI ANNI '70

MILANESI, SILVIA 10 July 2019 (has links)
The Gruppo Lombardo had been founded in Milan on 11th May 1945 by a group of people belonging to the Italian Catholic Action or to other Catholic bodies and that were, at the same time, important Lombard entrepreneurs, managers or bankers. The Association’s main aim was to spread among its members the knowledge of the principles of the Catholic social doctrine and to encourage their use in everyday working life. The Gruppo Lombardo was studied from its foundation up to the late 1960s/early 1970s. More precisely, because of the importance given by the Association to training and education, we focused on its initiatives in these fields; moreover, we examined also the case of the Segretariato UCID di Servizio sociale and of social workers belonging to this office but working for Giovanni Bassetti S. p. A.
