Design of Resonant Converters using Silicon Carbide PowerMoozhikkal, Rahul January 2016 (has links)
The design of series-loaded resonant converters using the state of the art SiC power transistorsis investigated in the thesis. SiC devices are chosen as they offer lower switching losses comparedto conventional Si based devices A very detailed study about the working and differentmodes of operation of the resonant converter is carried out. The thesis further explains how thehigh speed switching capabilities of the SiC devices remain untapped owing to the presence ofstray inductances in the switch-snubber layout. A comparison of all the commercially availableSiC devices are carried out to find the most suitable switch for the resonant converter. Thethesis also carries out a very detailed step by step design of the circuit and the PCB layout forthe resonant converter. Two different layouts are proposed and then compared for their strayinductance and power losses. Finally, based on the experiments the thesis validates the suitabilityof using discrete SiC power transistors in place of power modules.

The stacked polyphase bridges (SPB) converter topology is investigated in the presentthesis as a fault-tolerant choice for permanent-magnet synchronous reluctance (PMSyn-Rel) motor control. Integrated motor drive systems are studied as they offer great benefitsfor propulsion applications. Moreover, the importance of a modular topology, like theSPB, for an electric powertrain is discussed. The latter consists of a number of seriesconnected, 3-phase 2-level inverter submodules that supply separate sets of windings ina multi-star motor. The specifications of building a four-board SPB setup are examined, while the challenges of an active voltage balancing controller are analyzed. The designprocess is explained step-by-step and the final printed circuit boards (PCBs) are presented.Furthermore, the significance of low electromagnetic interference design for a converterthat requires high speed communication is highlighted. Finally, the prototype is testedthoroughly and the expected fault-tolerant capabilities are validated on a PMSynRel motor. Řízení manipulátoru pro snímání sítnice oka / Manipulator Control for Acquisition of the Eye RetinaMalaník, Petr January 2020 (has links)
To use the image of the retina for biometric or medical purposes, it is necessary that the image is of the highest quality and ideally covers the largest possible area. It is therefore necessary to move the sensing device to the most suitable position while ensuring its stability. A laboratory handling platform is used for this purpose. The platform is moved by stepper motors. A control board equipped with a microcontroller has been developed for their control, which allows very fine movements. The theoretical accuracy of the manipulator is up to 20 nm. Since it is necessary for sensing, to have proper retina illumination, the control system also includes adjustable illumination elements in the infrared and visible spectrum. The resulting system allows scanning of the retina of the eye from multiple angles and thereby effectively increase the area on which it is possible to further look for diseases or biometric features.

Development of an experimental six-phase induction machine drive / Utveckling av en experimentell drivlina för en sexfasig asynkronmaskin.Bianchi, Adam January 2021 (has links)
Electrical machines with more than three phases are usually called multiphase electrical machines and they can have several advantages compared to conventional three-phase electrical machines such as a lower content of space-harmonics, lower torque ripple and better fault tolerance. This degree project involves rewinding of a three-phase induction machine into an asymmetrical six-phase machine. The winding design is based on simulations of a machine model in a finite element method software and the method "the star of the slot" that computes winding layouts. A six-phase drive is developed based on an existing printed circuit board prototype that is not operating according to its original specifications. Debugging of the prototype is performed and solutions to the problems are identified. Design and layout improvements for better electromagnetic compatibility are also implemented. The drive including the electrical machine is tested and confirmed to be working according to the specifications. Speed control based on indirect rotor field orientation is implemented and tested for the six-phase induction machine as well with the machine connected as a standard three-phase induction machine.
