This thesis is an ongoing project of Ericsson with collaboration of Blekinge Institute of Technology [BTH], and Linneaus University [LNU] to compare the functionality and performance of three controllers Polynomial Pole Placement, PID [Proportional Integral Derivative] and PD controller in third order. This paper presents the state space modeling approach of DC-DC Buck converter. The main aim of this thesis is, by considering the buck converter system of Ericsson BMR450 with the PID, POLYNOMIAL and PD controllers at feedback loop, thus running their Matlab file with their appropiate Simulink block diagram, and comparing the three controllers performance by verifying their appropiate output graphs. The third order controller design is complicated and response is slow. The second order design is easy and gives better responses than third order Polynomial, PID and PD controllers. / As per the results point of view, the polynomial performed well than PID and PD controllers. The simulations show that the polynomial controller reaches the reference voltage very well, were the PID and PD result does not differ very much while meeting with the required reference voltage. Thus we conclude that the Polynomial controller design and results were better than the PID and PD Controllers. Considering security in Florida's transportation project development process

The transportation decision-making process takes on different forms in different states. The purpose of this study was to include and move considerations for national, state, and local security needs into the transportation project development arenas with a focus on Florida. A thorough and updated literature review was completed to determine the current state of the industry regarding incorporating security considerations into the transportation planning process. A review of current Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations concerning planning requirements was conducted to outline planning parameters and limitations. An information request letter was mailed to the key planning staff members for all 50 states in the United States, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico and other key stakeholders. An online survey was conducted to determine public opinion about transportation security. As a result of these efforts, a modified PD&E process was developed, key findings were identified, future research needs were defined, and an outline of next steps was developed.

Para isso, foram selecionas 11 características do modelo de negócio da EMBRAPII que foram confrontadas com as características dos projetos de Pesquisa, Desenvolvimento e Inovação (PD&I) a fim de verificar o alinhamento do modelo de negócio da EMBRAPII com a natureza da PD&I. Paralelamente, foram analisadas as formas de gerenciamento de projetos padrão PMBOK® Guide, as metodologias de desenvolvimento de produto Scrum e Front End Loading (FEL) e a metodologia de gerenciamento de projetos PRINCE2™, com o objetivo de extrair elementos que poderão contribuir na construção da metodologia de gerenciamento de projetos das Instituições Científicas e Tecnológicas (ICTs) credenciadas na EMBRAPII. Para tanto, foi utilizada a experiência da investigante na construção e implantação da metodologia de gerenciamento de projetos no Instituto Nacional de Tecnologia. O presente estudo teve como resultado um conjunto de 11 diretrizes relacionadas às 11 características da EMBRAPII, que podem influenciar a metodologia em questão. / The goal of this study is to define guidelines to design a project management methodology that focuses on the execution of Research, Development & Innovation’s projects, and to assist researchers in conducting the projects included on the Brazilian’s National Program of Research and Technological Innovation, using EMBRAPII. With that objective in mind and in order to check the alignment with EMBRAPII´s business model, 11 EMBRAPII’s features were selected and compared with the characteristics of Research, Development and Innovation´s projects (RD & I). In parallel, the study also analyzed the world standard methodologies for project management such as the PMBOK® Guide, the product development methodologies Scrum, Front End Loading (FEL) and PRINCE2 ™, with the objective of selecting elements that may contribute to the construction of the project management methodology for Scientific and Technological Institutions (ICT's) accredited by EMBRAPII. Additionally, it was applied also the researcher experience in the construction and implementation of project management methodology at the National Institute of Technology. This study resulted in a set of 11 guidelines related to 11 characteristics of EMBRAPII, which can positively influence the methodology in question.

On the other hand, system performance measurement needs to portray organizational changes and provide managers with a set of true and more appropriate information for the decision-making process. This work aims to propose a performance measurement system in the academic field regarding Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) in the oil and gas industry. The research performed a bibliographic review in a descriptive exploratory manner. A field research was conducted with an expert focus group in order to gather new indicators. As for the validation of these indicators, a survey with experienced professional was also realized. The research surveyed four segments in and outside of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte-Brazil such as oil and gas project coordinators, staff at Academic Planning Offices, FUNPEC employees as well as coordinators from Petrobr?s. The performance measuring system created from this study features three interrelated performance indicators pointed out as: process indicators, outcome indicators and global indicators. The proposal includes performance indicators that seek to establish more appropriate strategies for effective institution management. It might help policy making of university-industry interaction policies / Cada vez mais as organiza??es est?o ? procura de novas id?ias, novas ferramentas e novos m?todos que as ap?iem no aprimoramento do seu processo de gest?o e assim, melhorar seu desempenho. A pesquisa foi realizada utilizando-se dos seguintes procedimentos: uma revis?o bibliogr?fica com um car?ter explorat?rio-descritivo, acompanhada da pesquisa de campo, a realiza??o de focus group com especialistas para o levantamento de novos indicadores e um survey com profissionais experientes envolvidos na execu??o de projetos dessa natureza, com a finalidade de valida??o dos indicadores. Foram pesquisados quatro segmentos por meio de coordenadores de projetos de petr?leo e g?s natural da UFRN, funcion?rios da Pr?-Reitoria de Planejamento, funcion?rios da FUNPEC e coordenadores da Petrobras. O sistema de medi??o de desempenho gerado a partir deste estudo apresenta em sua estrutura tr?s grupos de indicadores de desempenho inter-relacionados: indicadores de processo, indicadores de resultado e indicadores globais. Este trabalho apresenta uma proposta de estudo prospectivo como ferramenta indispensável de planejamento estratégico para subsidiar a tomada de decisões e a formulação das políticas institucionais que façam o Instituto Oswaldo Cruz alcançar suavisão de futuro. A metodologia utilizada envolveu a realização de revisão da literatura para a construção do referencial teórico, a análise comparativa de três estudos prospectivos realizados no país e um realizado por instituição estrangeira e a identificação dos instrumentos e ferramentas utilizados nesses estudos. O resultado foi a apresentação de uma proposta de estudo prospectivo dividido em três fases: Inicial, de coleta, tratamento e sistematização da informação; Principal, de análise e interpretação da informação e produção do conhecimento; e de Comprometimento, de disseminação dos resultados, que propiciará ao IOC alcançar a excelência descrita em sua visão de futuro. / The Oswaldo Cruz Institute, the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation's biomedical research unit, is aiming to reach 2015 as "a international Institute of Research and Technology of excelence, former of scientists and technicians, acknowledged by the quality of its actions of reference to diagnosis, assistance and epidemiologic surveillance, and able to respond to the demands in the health area with agility and reliability." This paper represents a proposal of prospective study as an indispensable strategic planning tool to subsidize the decision making and the formulation of institutional policies to make the Oswaldo Cruz Institute reach its vision of the future. The methodology used involved the realisation of a literature review in order to build the theoretical referential, the comparative analysis of three prospective studies made in the country and one made by a foreign institution and the identification of the instruments and tools used in these studies. The result was the presentation of a prospective study proposal divided in three phases: the Inicial one, of collection, treatment and sistematization of the information; the Principal one, of analysis and interpretation of this information and the knowledgement production; and the Commitment one, of dissemination of the results, wich will propiciate the Institute Oswaldo Cruz to reach the excelence described in its vision of the future.
