Previous issue date: 2006-02-17 / The present work has as objective to present a method of project and implementation of controllers PID, based on industrial instrumentation. An automatic system of auto-tunning of controllers PID will be presented, for systems of first and second order. The software presented in this work is applied in controlled plants by PID controllers implemented in a CLP. Software is applied to make the auto-tunning of the parameters of controller PID of plants that need this tunning. Software presents two stages, the first one is the stage of identification of the system using the least square recursive algorithm and the second is the stage of project of the parameters of controller PID using the root locus algorithm. An important fact of this work is the use of industrial instrumentation for the accomplishment of the experiments. The experiments had been carried through in controlled real plants for controllers PID implemented in the CLP. Thus has not only one resulted obtained with theoreticians experiments made with computational programs, and yes resulted obtained of real systems. The experiments had shown good results gotten with developed software / O presente trabalho tem como objetivo apresentar um m?todo de projeto e implementa??o de controladores PID, baseado em instrumenta??o industrial. Ser? apresentado um sistema autom?tico de re-sintonia de controladores PID, para sistemas de primeira e segunda ordem. O software apresentado neste trabalho ? aplicado em plantas controladas por controladores PID implementados num CLP. O software ? aplicado para fazer a auto-sintonia dos par?metros do controlador PID de plantas que necessitem desta sintonia. O software apresenta duas etapas, a primeira ? a etapa de identifica??o do sistema utilizando o algoritmo dos m?nimos quadrados recursivos e a segunda ? a etapa de projeto dos par?metros do controlador PID utilizando o algoritmo do m?todo do lugar das ra?zes. Um fato importante deste trabalho ? a utiliza??o de instrumenta??o industrial para a realiza??o dos experimentos. Os experimentos foram realizados em plantas reais controladas por controladores PID implementados em um CLP. Assim n?o se tem apenas resultados te?ricos obtidos de experimentos feitos com programas computacionais, e sim resultados obtidos de sistemas reais. Inverse internal model control of an ethylene polymerisation reactor using artificial neural networks.Dunwoodie, Ryan. January 2001 (has links)
An artificial neural network is a mathematical black-box modelling tool. This tool can
be used to model complex non-linear multivariable processes. In attempting to create
an inverse process model of an industrial linear low density polyethylene reactor,
several interesting results were encountered. Both time-invariant algebraic and time-invariant
dynamic models could adequately represent the process, provided an
identified 50-minute time lag was taken into account.
A novel variation of the traditional IMC controller was implemented which used two
inverse neural network process models. This was named Inverse Internal Model
Control (IIMC). This controller was initially tested on a real multivariable pump-tank
system and showed promising results.
The IIMC controller was adapted to an on-line version for the polymer plant control
system. The controller was run in open loop mode to compare the predictions of the
controller with the actual PID ratio controllers. It was hoped that by incorporating
neural network models into the controller, they would take the non-linearity and
coupling of the variables into account, which the present PID controllers are unable to
do. The existing PID controllers operate on separate loops involving the two main
feeds (co-monomer and hydrogen) to the reactor, which constitute aspects of the
control system in which the scope for advanced control exists. Although the control
loop was not closed, the groundwork has been laid to implement a novel controller that

In this thesis multiple controllers are developed which command a small boat with twin tied outboard motors to hold a desired position. In the process of developing a controller to hold a position, controllers were first developed which follow a desired heading or path over ground with the motors outputting constant thrust. These heading and path following controllers were tuned and tested in a numerical simulation, then validated on the R/V Lee and Ocean Power vessels through sea trials in the Atlantic Ocean. After successful path following trials were performed, station keeping algorithms were developed and tuned in the numerical simulation, now with heading and thrust of the vessel both being variables to be controlled. After tuning in the numerical simulation, the Ocean power vessel was outfitted with systems for controlling throttle and steering with sea trials conducted in the Atlantic Ocean for station keeping. / by Aaron D. This thesis addresses the H∞ analysis and control of continuous commensurate time-delay systems by frequential methods. First, the asymptotic behavior of the chains of poles are studied, and the conditions of stability for neutral systems with poles approaching the imaginary axis are given. The same analysis is done for fractional systems. In the sequel, a numerical method able to locate all the stability windows as well as the unstable root-locus for classical and fractional system is given. We conclude the analysis part by providing the stability crossing curves of a class of distributed delay system. Starting the synthesis part, we design PID controllers for unstable fractional systems using a small-gain theorem approach. Finally, using the Rekasius substitution, we construct a linear time invariant comparison system that allows us to get information about stability and H∞-norm for classical time-delay systems. Using this approach it is possible to design state and output feedback controllers, as well as linear filters for this class of systems.
