Ghost Water Exhibition

Sharp, Michael G. 01 March 2017 (has links)
The Ghost Water exhibition of artworks by Michael Sharp was comprised of four main works titled: 30 x 60 Minute Grid Series, Suspension, History/Prehistory, and Lake Bonneville Remnants. The artwork was created as a reaction to the land that once held the prehistoric Lake Bonneville and to its current remnant Great Salt Lake. The work explores the dialogue between absence and presence.

Real-time Embedded Panoramic Imaging for Spherical Camera System / Real-time Embedded Panoramic Imaging for Spherical Camera System

Uddin-Al-Hasan, Main January 2013 (has links)
Panoramas or stitched images are used in topographical mapping, panoramic 3D reconstruction, deep space exploration image processing, medical image processing, multimedia broadcasting, system automation, photography and other numerous fields. Generating real-time panoramic images in small embedded computer is of particular importance being lighter, smaller and mobile imaging system. Moreover, this type of lightweight panoramic imaging system is used for different types of industrial or home inspection. A real-time handheld panorama imaging system is developed using embedded real-time Linux as software module and Gumstix Overo and PandaBoard ES as hardware module. The proposed algorithm takes 62.6602 milliseconds to generate a panorama frame from three images using a homography matrix. Hence, the proposed algorithm is capable of generating panorama video with 15.95909365 frames per second. However, the algorithm is capable to be much speedier with more optimal homography matrix. During the development, Ångström Linux and Ubuntu Linux are used as the operating system with Gumstix Overo and PandaBoard ES respectively. The real-time kernel patch is used to configure the non-real-time Linux distribution for real-time operation. The serial communication software tools C-Kermit, Minicom are used for terminal emulation between development computer and small embedded computer. The software framework of the system consist UVC driver, V4L/V4L2 API, OpenCV API, FFMPEG API, GStreamer, x264, Cmake, Make software packages. The software framework of the system also consist stitching algorithm that has been adopted from available stitching methods with necessary modification. Our proposed stitching process automatically finds out motion model of the Spherical camera system and saves the matrix in a look file. The extracted homography matrix is then read from look file and used to generate real-time panorama image. The developed system generates real-time 180° view panorama image from a spherical camera system. Beside, a test environment is also developed to experiment calibration and real-time stitching with different image parameters. It is able to take images with different resolutions as input and produce high quality real-time panorama image. The QT framework is used to develop a multifunctional standalone software that has functions for displaying real-time process algorithm performance in real-time through data visualization, camera system calibration and other stitching options. The software runs both in Linux and Windows. Moreover, the system has been also realized as a prototype to develop a chimney inspection system for a local company. / Main Uddin-Al-Hasan, E-mail: main.hasan@gmail.com

Galerie letecké techniky a tradic letectví na letišti Medlánky v Brně / Gallery aviation technology and traditions of aviation at the airport Medlánky in Brno

Sudolský, Filip January 2016 (has links)
The main subject of the diploma project was to create architecture study for new building of a Gallery for sport aircrafts and their traditions and other equipment that cooperate with this topic. The Gallery is designed in Brno´s Medlanky municipality and it is incorporated on current local sport airport. This project was preceded by studio project on the same area, which included reconstruction and development of this airport area. In this diploma project I was trying to continue with this development and establish a design which would react to my earlier design. The site has a sloped character and it separated from a dense city area. Starting point for the design was to gently touch the landscape and also trying to find certain references directly in the closest surrounding. From the views to surrounding was created the idea to preserve the horizontal lines and with a landscape and constructions demands was created the main idea to continue with the landscape over the spatial structure. The need to cover large-scale exhibit items like aircrafts and other items from this topic led to a starting point of my design. The structure is formed as a spatial truss structure and dominates the exhibition space. Building is connected by program and structure to services and other areas like conference hall, coffee, study room, work room and administration. As a one building it teems mainly from arrival at the airport area when the roofing is an organic, monolithic surface disappearing in surrounding. But gallery itself emerges from the ground and opens towards the aircraft take off and departure area where it is also direction of a main view to the surrounding. The building is also unique for its entering, such as the main entrance through narrow staircase gap in the roof. This entrance should evoke to people an aircraft landing, where while descent plane dive in to the clouds and appear underneath above a whole new landscape. Thus a person sore in to the roof surface a

Optický radar s využitím dvouosého kamerového manipulátoru / Optical Localization System with a Pan/Tilt Camera

Senčuch, Daniel January 2018 (has links)
The effective surveillance of large critical areas is crucial for their security and privacy. There is no publicly available and acceptable solution of automating this task. This thesis aims to create an application utilizing a combination of a pan-tilt robotic manipulator and a visible-spectrum camera. Based on the pan-tilt unit's position and camera's images, the application searches for semantically significant changes in the captured environment and marks these regions of interest.

Živé obrazy VJingu / Live images of VJing

Benická, Alexandra January 2011 (has links)
The subject of the thesis Live images of VJing is an aesthetic activity, based on visual projections and on work with new media in real-time, known as VJing, or more generally "live audiovisual performance". As these performances usually complement auditory events or are supplemented by music. The first part follows the origins of VJing out of three angles: First the historical development of projected image, electronic music and the discourse of synaesthesia principle as an principle joining different sensory perceptions into one. Second part of this thesis is introducing an philosophical perspective and it's defining terms, through which can be glimpsed the tendencies in the development of contemporary art of new media, particularly following the example of the German new-media philosophy with terms like homöotechnik, performativity, mediality and gesture. The outcome of this thesis is the finding, that it's not the media-philosophy bringing the textures and shapes to VJing, but the opposite - VJing as an art form is a valuable contribution to defining of the media-philosophy, which seem to be forming along with the new media itself and with the experimental arts exploring it's radical possibilities.

Nevada Fall Corridor : a cultural landscape report

Gerdes, Marti M. 08 1900 (has links)
xv, 298 p. ; ill. (chiefly col.), maps (chiefly col.) A print copy of this thesis is available through the UO Libraries under the call number: AAA F868.Y6 G47 2004 / This study describes existing conditions, evaluates significance and historic integrity, and recommends treatment strategies to preserve historic elements of the Nevada Fall Corridor cultural landscape in Yosemite National Park. It reports findings from field investigation that examined and inventoried landscape features such as stone retaining walls, treadway material, bridges and causeways, and water features on both current-use and abandoned trail segments. The site was examined numerous times over a three-month period, with a followup visit one year later. Libraries and other archives were consulted for written and photographic historic documentation, which were analyzed against current conditions. The process also involved review of comparison documents as well as national guidelines set forth by the National Park Service. / Adviser: Melnick, Robert Z.
