An investigation into cooperative and collaborative partnerships in Hungarian teacher educationBalassa, Katalin January 2002 (has links)
The aim of this dissertation is to provide insight into some characteristics of collaborative partnerships in Hungarian teacher education, and to use this as evidence in pointing out the need for a change in current teacher education practices in the preparation of teachers/mentors. The Portfolio brings together accounts of two research projects upon perspectives of collaborative partnerships. Project 'A', Collaborative development of observation strategies in the context of mentor-based teacher education programmes in Hungary investigates the results of a collaborative partnership which originally developed from a successful initiative in ELT. Later, however, the findings proved capable of wider application, producing results at school improvement. Data were gathered mainly from participating mentors' research reports. With the help of qualitative research and analysis the potential benefits of this joint project are highlighted. From the analysis of data particular features of mixed mentor-based programmes emerge which have not been documented in the literature before. Project 'B', Impact Study of a Nation-wide Hungarian Mentor Project in ELT attempts to investigate how the reflective approach to teacher training (See Part I for definition) introduced at the beginning of the nineties changed mentoring in Hungary. Data were gathered from questionnaires. With the help of a survey method it is demonstrated how the Mentor Project affected all the people and institutions involved in the project. The research provides insights not only into the future of mentoring in Hungary, but into the wider implications for mentoring as a whole. Special attention is paid to evaluating the collaboration between participants of the project. The evidence from the data is used for pinpointing areas which require further improvement in the preparation of mentors. The research results of both projects show that work in collaborative partnerships encourages teachers to adopt a self-critical approach to their practice. Also, they clearly point to the need for collaborating with participants of mentor training at all levels. Both projects derived from empirical investigation and they were prompted by the Candidate's continued interest in mentoring and her long experience of working as a mentor/mentor co-ordinator in Hungarian teacher education. They are based on Hungarian experience but throughout all the study parallels are drawn with the international context. Special attention is paid to exploring the origins of Hungarian school-based partnership, as it is believed this is intrinsic to the understanding of the current controversies of university practice-school partnership. It is the Candidate 's conviction that besides preserving some universally valid elements of teacher education models, it is necessary to find ways which are in agreement with and catering for particular local needs. While there is a clear difference in the context and the processes which were necessary to setup the two projects, both of them explored ways for improvement. They were meant to encourage participants of partnerships to establish a basic agreed philosophy, which would create a common ground for working with mentees. Specifically, ways, which on the one hand remain faithful to the past model of the first school-based teacher training institution, and, at the same time, meet the challenges of the future.

Journalists' perceptions of their roles and identities with regard to the new partnership for Africa's developmentKanyegirire, Andrew Steve Tumuhirwe January 2008 (has links)
This qualitative study features in-depth interviews with selected continental African journalists and offers exploratory insights into how they perceive themselves in terms of their journalistic roles and/or sub-identities with regard to the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD). The study also examines correlations between their perceptions and their news stories on NEPAD. Grounded in the libertarian and social responsibility theories of journalism, and reading these theories from the standpoint of Africa, this study posits the neutral, watchdog, social agenda and development journalism sub-identities to explain the respondents’ journalistic identifications. Hence, the study explores how the journalists respond to NEPAD’s (pan)-Africanist and development journalism interpellations. The study draws on postcolonial theoretical perspectives to address questions concerning African identity and the wider NEPAD/African context of research. Findings indicated that the journalists perceive a role for themselves as neutral-objectivist information disseminators as well as social agenda enactors that conscientise their readers about NEPAD. Thus, the journalists tend to implicitly portray a pluralistic understanding of their roles that enables them to balance the ideals of journalism against the development and Africanist aspirations of NEPAD. Although the journalists were found to uphold oppositional stances towards NEPAD, they do not question it from outside of its own neo-liberal discourse. In fact, they still represent themselves as aspiring to its Africanism and remaining sympathetic to its development plans. Overall, they exhibit multiple identifications, and yet they often tend to lean towards their neutral-objectivist journalistic sub-identity. Ultimately, they prioritise the dominant libertarian-professional model of journalism over and above NEPAD’s interpellations. The study also examined the journalists’ interpretations of what they do and the apparent translation of this into their stories. Although in both their stories and interviews discourse they showed a broader orientation towards libertarianism, the findings show that the link between the two is not straightforward.

Value for money jako nástroj hodnocení PPP projektů :mezinárodní srovnání a návrh úpravy metodiky pro hodnocení projektů v České republice /Ostřížek, Jan January 2010 (has links)
This dissertation deals with the economic evaluation of Public Private Partnerships (PPP) projects. Generally, PPP projects are evaluated using the evaluation methodology, which is called Value for Money (VFM). The aim of this dissertation is to propose some changes in the Value for Money methodology, which is used in the Czech Republic. All proposed changes should lead in to more frequent PPP realization in the Czech republic, whereas there should be no reduced requirements regarding the economic efficiency of this kind of projects. The Value for Money demonstrates the difference between two ways of project realization. The first one is conventional public procurement project, which is based on the separation of financing and providing of design, construction, operational and maintenance phase of the project. The second way is the Public Private Partnership project, where one private subject, in principle the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), provides all the project phases mentioned above. That means the PPP projects are usually very large, expensive and long-running. Value for Money methodologies are used in many countries, where the PPP projects are prepared and realized. Of course, the methodologies differ based on the legislative, institutional and economic environment. In the Czech republic the VFM methodology was created and published in the 2008. But the utilization of the methodology is very marginal. That means there are very limited experiences, which allows changing the methodology without causing enormous costs for submitters or advisors. All the proposed changes are formulated based on provided research. The research consisted in the analysis and comparison of Value for Money methodologies in selected countries and in the determination of key Value for Money drivers in PPP projects in the Czech republic, which allows identifying the specifics and specialties of Czech PPP market. Using these outputs some changes were formulated. The most important and fundamental changes are the change of the structure of the evaluation methodology, the change in the qualitative evaluation questions formulation, the change in the quantitative PSC methodology and the changes in the legislative environment.

No entanto,
apesar de a certificação estar promovendo mudanças nos relacionamentos entre construtoras e
fornecedores, o estabelecimento de relações estáveis e cooperativas entre eles não pode ser
diretamente atribuído ao SGQ. / Salvador

Názory české společnosti na registrované partnerství / Opinions of Czech society on the registered partnershipCALETKOVÁ, Dagmar January 2008 (has links)
This diploma thesis discusses the issue of registered partnership and the Czech public´s opinion of it from the social and legal aspect of a new establishment. The theoretical section characterises the basic terms applying to this issue. The purpose of this work is to establish the predominant attitudes in Czech society towards homosexuality and homosexual orientation as such, including attitudes towards registered partnership. Three hypotheses have been determined. H 1: A greater part of the Czech public perceives introduction of the registered Partnership Act to be a positive step for homosexually orientated citizens. H 2: more than half of respondents do not have enough information about the issue of registered partnership. H 3: More than half of respondents are chiefly influenced by the media in their attitudes. The research section contains processing and evaluation of data obtained by the quantitative method of inquiries made through a questionnaire, when an anonymous questionnaire investigation established the general public´s attitudes towards homosexuality and registered partnership. The obtained data implies that the Czech public is aware of the establishment of registered partnership as such, but knowledge of specific aspects, which are significant from the social or legal aspect, are not on the required level. A pleasing discovery is that the Czech public has an open approach to the establishment of registered partnership and agrees with its introduction to practice by means of approval of Act number 115/2006 Coll.

Postoje k partnerství a faktory spokojenosti / Attiutudes towatd partnership and determinants of satisfactionHřebenářová, Veronika January 2018 (has links)
With the rise in divorce rate and unstable unmarried cohabitations in recent decades, studies have begun to identify factors contributing to break up or divorce and tried to identify attitudes or behaviour that are destructive to marriage. This thesis deals with this question from the opposite angle, where the aim is to reveal the attitudes of satisfied partners. Since relationship attitudes are often dependent on age and gender, these demographic variables are also taken into account. The thesis has an explorative character and therefore several empirical methods are developed in the empirical part to reveal the above mentioned contexts as well as the identification of latent factors between attitudes. The analysis showed that the more satisfied the respondents were in their relationship the more important were the attitudes for them. The most important attitudes are fidelity, true love and tolerance of the mistakes. Respondents who perceived romantic and internal relationship factors such as love, fidelity and sexual relationship as important were more satisfied that those who perceived as important the traditional values (man works and woman cares about the household) and those who identified as important the practical values (sacrifice for children, managing finances, subordinate). Understanding the emergence of adaptive water governance: a case study of the Cache River watershed of Southern IllinoisHancock, Jodie 01 August 2017 (has links)
The sustainable management of coupled social-ecological systems, such as water resource systems, requires institutional mechanisms for managing uncertainties and building more resilient social-ecological systems. Adaptive governance is an outcome of the search for a way to manage uncertainties and complexities within social-ecological systems. The concept of adaptive governance has emerged as a product of resilience theory and theoretical insights on common pool resources management. Adaptive governance refers to flexible multi-level institutions that connect state and non-state actors to facilitate a collaborative and learning-based approach to ecosystem management. As such, it has the potential to integrate social considerations into the decision process while also dealing with uncertainties in complex water resource systems. However, little is understood on how transitions toward adaptive governance systems take place and what criteria qualify a given institutional mechanism as an adaptive governance regime.
This thesis presents results on a study that was aimed at understanding the process and outcomes of transitions toward adaptive water governance by using the Cache River Joint Venture Partnership (CRWJVP) within the Cache River Watershed in Southern Illinois as a case study. Qualitative data for the study were generated through key informant interviews among members of the CRWJVP and other knowledgeable actors, document review, and participant observation. The results revealed that the transformation of the governance of the Cache River watershed through the emergence of the CRWJVP was the result of ecological crises that began a citizen-led effort to preserve the Cache River wetlands. Additionally, the transition process was facilitated through trust-building, incentives, leadership, enabling legislation, and the role of bridging organizations. The results also showed that when compared to the attributes of an adaptive governance system, the current governance system of the Cache River watershed does not fully exhibit all the ideal attributes. However, the CRWJVP is moving towards an adaptive governance regime through the recent utilization of decision-making processes for recognizing and managing conflicts and uncertainties in the management of the watershed. Barriers in the transition process and recommendations for overcoming them are also discussed in the thesis. In all, findings from this study should be of relevance to scientists and decision-makers interested in understanding and enhancing transitions toward adaptive governance for the sustainable management of land and water resources in the Cache River watershed and elsewhere.
