The objectives were to conduct a behavioral reading on the application of Paulo Freire s Literacy Method on the experience of Angicos - RN (1963 ) and to develop reflections on these two conceptions of education (Behavior Analysis and Freire s theory). The study consisted of a theoretical exploratory research consulting primary and secondary sources to provide a contextualization of the educational proposals concerned; a behavioral reading on Literacy Method, and; some discussions and considerations about possible contributions between educators in these two areas. From this behavioral reading one can indicate that in the Freirean method the objectives are not restricted to the reproduction of the actions of reading and writing but they stand out the relevance of these actions for the subject and for the society in which he or she is inserted. In addition, there is also the search for a construction of a non-punitive verbal community and the discussions that integrate this proposal can be understood as a teaching condition that lead to discrimination on the social contingencies in which participants take part and also the possible ways of counter control related to these contingencies. Given the objectives of the study it is possible to indicate that while one of the key concepts of Paulo Freire s proposals is that educational practices must be committed to the radical transformation of social relations, the behavioral assertion, although recognizing the importance and influence of political aspects to education, focuses on the effectiveness of teaching conditions and are less explicit about its political position compared to the Brazilian theorist s proposals. Thus, the invitation assumed by this work is to seek for new ways of making a Science increasingly committed to the transformation of the oppressive social conditions. / Este estudo buscou salientar as interações no meio educacional, mais especificamente na alfabetização, abordando o Método de Alfabetização desenvolvido por Paulo Freire e alguns aspectos de sua teoria sob a ótica da Análise do Comportamento. Os objetivos do trabalho foram realizar uma leitura comportamental sobre a aplicação do Método de Alfabetização Paulo Freire na Experiência de Angicos RN (1963) e desenvolver reflexões a respeito dessas duas concepções de educação (Análise do Comportamento e teoria freireana). Para isto, foi realizada uma pesquisa teórica exploratória, com consulta a bases primárias e secundárias que traz uma contextualização das propostas educacionais em questão; uma leitura comportamental sobre o Método de Alfabetização, e; algumas discussões e considerações sobre possíveis contribuições entre os educadores dessas duas áreas. A partir da leitura comportamental realizada, é possível indicar que no método freireano os objetivos não se restringem à reprodução das ações de ler e de escrever, mas destacam a relevância dessas ações para o indivíduo e para a sociedade em que está inserido. Além disso, há também a busca pela construção de uma comunidade verbal não punitiva e os debates que integram essa proposta podem ser entendidos como condição de ensino que leva a discriminações sobre as contingências sociais em que os participantes estão inseridos e também a possíveis formas de contracontrole em relação a essas contingências. Tendo em vista os objetivos do trabalho, é possível indicar que enquanto uma das propostas primordiais de Paulo Freire é que as práticas educativas se façam realmente comprometidas com uma transformação radical das relações sociais, a asserção comportamental, embora reconheça a importância e a influência política da educação, centra-se mais na questão da efetividade das condições de ensino e menos na explicitação quanto ao seu posicionamento político, quando comparado às proposições do teórico brasileiro. Desse modo, o convite assumido por este trabalho, é o de buscar novas formas de fazer ciência, cada vez mais comprometidas com a transformação das condições sociais opressoras.
