So being, the proposal of this work is to analyse the perception of the builders , universe of professionals who work with the building of the city: engineers, architects and constructors in general, in the city of João Pessoa PB, highlightning some questions about the environmental matter. For such, it was used a semi-structured interview with open and multiple choice questions, in order to investigate the perception of the interviewees according to the specifications of each professional category. The research s conclusion was that, although apparently distincts, the three groups of professionals have certain uniformity in the understanding of the urban environmental matter. The three categories understand as environmental elements of the city: Jardim Botânico, also known as Mata do Buraquinho, Arruda Câmara Park green space located in the city comercial center, the beaches, the Lagoa (Solon de Lucena Park) and also the Woods, in reference to the traces of Atlantic Forest. It was noticed that, although some professionals distinguish the importance of this natural elements in the city, the majority gives priority to the construction, verticalization and the heavy ocupation of the city. Besides it was verified that the subjectivity of the matter involves the interviewees, in a way which aparent contradictions appear provoking ambiguites, unique oscilation between knowledge about the environmental matter and "realty" practice / Na cidade, embora vigore o espaço construído, desde o século XIX existe a preocupação com a manutenção de áreas verdes, ou seja, com a questão ambiental urbana. Dessa forma, a proposta deste trabalho é analisar a percepção dos construtores , universo de profissionais que trabalham com a edificação: engenheiros, arquitetos e construtores em geral, na cidade de João Pessoa - PB, evidenciando algumas questões a respeito da problemática ambiental. Para tanto, utilizou-se entrevista semi-estruturada com perguntas fechadas e abertas, procurando investigar a percepção dos entrevistados segundo as especificidades de cada categoria profissional. A pesquisa concluiu que, embora aparentemente distintos, os três grupos de profissionais apresentam certa uniformidade no entendimento da problemática ambiental urbana. As três categorias percebem como elementos ambientais da cidade as áreas: Jardim Botânico, também nomeado Mata do Buraquinho; Parque Arruda Câmara espaço verde localizado no centro comercial da cidade; as praias; a Lagoa (Parque Solon de Lucena) e ainda as Matas, em alusão aos resquícios da Mata Atlântica. Constatou-se que, muito embora alguns profissionais destaquem a importância desses elementos naturais na cidade, a maioria deles prioriza a construção, a verticalização e a ocupação densa da cidade. Além disso, verificou-se que a subjetividade da questão envolve os pesquisados, de modo que aparentes contradições surgem provocando ambigüidades, oscilação singular entre o conhecimento sobre a temática ambiental e a prática do imobiliário
