For both cases, the research focuses on the exhibition space and how art works are exhibited, comparing the present spaces for exhibition and the Cabinets of Curiosities – private collections presented to a selected public, mostly during the 17th and 18th centuries, which can be regarded as the predecessors of modern museums

FundaÃÃo Cearense de Apoio ao Desenvolvimento Cientifico e TecnolÃgico / Aborda a gÃnese, o desenvolvimento, a estrutura e as prÃticas de uma comunidade religiosa, a Igreja Batista Central de Fortaleza (IBC), geradas sob o influxo da lideranÃa carismÃtica exercida pelo Pr. Armando Bispo da Cruz, que tem como modo de autenticaÃÃo do carisma a performance realizada em celebraÃÃes espetaculares. A presente investigaÃÃo toma como referencial teÃrico as contribuiÃÃes de Max Weber (1989, 1982, 1994, 1999), Pierre Bourdieu (1984, 1989 e 1992), Jean-Paul Willaime (1986, 2000, 2002, 2003 e 2009), Paul Zumthor (1997 e 2000) e Renato Cohen (2007), dentre outros autores que tambÃm foram importantes para a realizaÃÃo deste trabalho. AlÃm da pesquisa bibliogrÃfica, empregaram-se tambÃm procedimentos de pesquisa qualitativa, tais como anÃlise de imagens, observaÃÃo, entrevistas e conversas informais para obtenÃÃo de dados. A gÃnese e o desenvolvimento do campo religioso protestante brasileiro sÃo apresentados em suas linhas gerais, possibilitando a compreensÃo do surgimento e da expansÃo da IBC, uma das novas comunidades protestantes cuja estrutura administrativa e organizaÃÃo estratÃgica servem de suporte para o exercÃcio da lideranÃa carismÃtica e profÃtica, no sentido weberiano. Partindo ainda de uma abordagem histÃrica acerca dos templos no cristianismo e, especificamente, no protestantismo, analisa-se a utilizaÃÃo do local das celebraÃÃes de maior porte dessa comunidade, a Tenda, como espaÃo de espetÃculo, cenÃrio de performances. Nessa Ãtica, a partir da etnografia realizada, sÃo analisadas as celebraÃÃes dominicais. A relaÃÃo entre atuaÃÃo profÃtica e performance sÃo analisadas, permitindo compreender como se articulam para os fins da autenticaÃÃo do carisma. / Itâs about the genesis, development, structure and practices of a religious community to Central Baptist Church of Fortaleza (IBC), generated under the influence of charismatic leadership exerted by Pastor Armando Bispo da Cruz, whose charisma authentication mode the held in spectacular celebrations. This research has like a theoretical reference contributions of Max Weber (1989, 1982, 1994, 1999), Pierre Bourdieu (1984 and 1992), Jean Paul Willaime (1986, 2000, 2002, 2003 e 2009), Paul Zumthor (1997 and 2000) and Renato Cohen (2007), ), among other authors who were also important for this work. Besides the literature, procedures were employed for qualitative research, such as image analysis, observation, interviews and informal conversations to gather data. The genesis and development of the religious Protestant brazilian field are presented in general terms, allowing us to understand the emergence and expansion of the IBC, a new Protestant communities whose administrative structure and strategic organization serve as support for the exercise of charismatic leadership and prophetic, in the Weberian sense. Starting still from a historical approach on the temples in Christianity, specifically Protestantism, it analyzes the use this communitÂs greatest place of celebrations, the Tent, like a space of spectacle, scene of performances. From this perspective, since the held ethnography, the sunday celebrations are analyzed. The relationship between the prophetic role and performance are analyzed, allowing us to understand how to articulate in order of authentication of charisma.

Magíster en artes con mención en dirección teatral / La presente investigación se centra en el estudio del cabaret mexicano contemporáneo de la Ciudad de México, como un género teatral que destaca a nivel espectacular, por la presentación de elementos satíricos, esto es, vinculados a la crítica social y al humor, desde un tratamiento eminentemente performativo de los recursos escénicos, que requiere de un marco de copresencia fundamental entre actores y público. Nuestro primer objetivo es aportar al campo de los estudios de teatro latinoamericano contemporáneo una herramienta de análisis de puesta en escena que permita relevar los rasgos esenciales de este formato en tanto sátira y en tanto performance. Nuestro segundo objetivo es trasvasar experimentalmente elementos dramáticos y performativos del cabaret mexicano y el Teatro Invisible para construir un nuevo formato teatral de cabaret contemporáneo, aplicado al espacio público. Metodológicamente esta tesis implicó la revisión bibliográfica de fuentes sobre historia y teoría del teatro, la realización de entrevistas directas a creadores de cabaret contemporáneo, la observación de puestas en escena, la identificación de rasgos comunes, la presentación de un modelo de observación apropiado para el género, y el diseño y realización de un proyecto creativo. El resultado del proceso implicó en su nivel teórico, la definición del cabaret mexicano como un género de sátira contemporáneo, que dramáticamente está vinculado a la farsa, y utiliza el humor inclusivo para revisar críticamente temáticas socialmente contingentes, vinculadas a la exclusión y la explotación, revalorando el imaginario popular mexicano. Dentro de sus aspectos performativos destaca ante todo, el juego de presencia y representación, la copresencia y cocreación de la vivencia espectacular por parte de actores y espectadores, y el distanciamiento que persigue la producción performativa de la materialidad escénica. A nivel experimental esta tesis desembocó en la realización del proyecto creativo Cabaret Invisible desarrollado en el transporte público de la ciudad de Santiago.

[pt] Desde o final da década de 70, a indústria siderúrgica brasileira vinha sofrendo com a presença maciça do governo no setor, pois se ressentia da falta dos investimentos necessários para a renovação e ampliação do parque siderúrgico. Esta falta de investimentos provocava, também, a perda de competitividade das empresas siderúrgicas brasileiras frente às suas concorrentes no mercado internacional. A saída do Estado do setor siderúrgico, a partir das privatizações efetuadas no início da década de 90, trouxe novas perspectivas para o setor. No entanto, a passagem das principais empresas siderúrgicas para a iniciativa privada abriu espaços para a entrada de novas empresas no setor, acirrou a rivalidade entre as empresas já estabelecidas na indústria e modificou o poder de negociação relativo entre as empresas siderúrgicas, seus fornecedores e seus compradores. A ameaça de produtos substitutos, apesar de aparentemente baixa, continua a rondar a indústria, impedindo-a de repassar aumentos nos custos e aumentar seus preços livremente. A alteração no controle das empresas, associada às mudanças no ambiente competitivo, têm provocado uma maior difusão do conceito e da importância da estratégia entre as empresas siderúrgicas. Estas empresas, que antes não se preocupavam com a estratégia ou não apresentavam consistência nas estratégias escolhidas, agora demonstram reduções significativas em seus custos e exibem padrões de diferenciação ou de escolha de nichos de mercado onde atuar. É importante ressaltar que estas novas escolhas estratégicas também são influenciadas pela relação que algumas das empresas possuem com suas matrizes e com os governos brasileiro, dos países de suas matrizes e dos países onde possuem interesses comerciais, como Argentina, Chile e Estados Unidos. Os estudos de Porter (1980, 1985) foram a base para a caracterização do ambiente competitivo e a identificação das estratégias competitivas abordadas neste trabalho. O ambiente competitivo foi detalhado utilizando o modelo das cinco forças de Porter: ameaça de novos entrantes, ameaça de produtos substitutos, poder de negociação dos fornecedores, poder de negociação dos compradores e rivalidade entre as empresas já estabelecidas na indústria. A classificação das estratégias competitivas das empresas, por sua vez, teve como base a tipologia de estratégias genéricas de Porter, com sua definição de estratégias de liderança em custo total, diferenciação e enfoque. O referencial teórico deste trabalho também apresenta tipologias alternativas à de Porter, como a proposta por Mintzberg (1988) e a Resource-Based View, que é uma corrente que enfoca a empresa do ponto de vista dos insumos e vai contra diversas idéias de Porter, porém ainda necessita de validação por meio de pesquisas empíricas. A tipologia de Porter se mostrou adequada à classificação das estratégias das empresas siderúrgicas brasileiras, porém ainda é uma incógnita se o poder explanatório adicional que poderia ser proporcionado pela tipologia de Mintzberg compensaria seu menor nível de parcimônia em relação à tipologia de Porter. / [en] Since the end of the decade of 70, the siderurgical industry Brazilian vine Suffering with the massive presence of the government in the sector, therefore if resented at the lack of the necessary investments for the renewal and magnifying of the siderurgical park. This lack of investments provoked, also, the loss of competitiveness of the Brazilian siderurgical companies front to its competitors in the international market. The exit of the State of the siderurgical sector, from the privatizations effected in the beginning of the decade of 90, brought new perspectives for the sector. However, the ticket of the main siderurgical companies for the private initiative opened spaces for the entrance of new companies in the sector, incited the rivalry enters the established companies already in the industry and modified the relative power of negotiation between the siderurgical companies, its suppliers and its purchasers. The threat of substitute products, although pparently low, continues to go up to around the industry, being hindered it to repass increases in the costs and to increase its prices freely. The alteration in the control of the companies, associated to the Changes in the competitive environment, has provoked a bigger diffusion of the concept and the importance of the strategy between the siderurgical companies. These companies, who before were not worried about the strategy or they did not present consistency in the chosen strategies, now demonstrate significant reductions in its costs and show standards of differentiation or choice of market niches where to act. It is important to stand out that these new strategical choices also are influenced by the relation that some of the companies possess with its matrices and the governments Brazilian, of the countries of its matrices and the countries where they possess commercial interests, as Argentina, Chile and United States. The studies of Porter (1980, 1985) had been the base for the Characterization of the competitive environment and the identification of the boarded competitive strategies in this work. The competitive environment was detailed using the model of the five forces of Porter: threat of new incoming, threat of substitute products, to be able of negotiation of the suppliers, power of negotiation of the purchasers and rivalry enters the established companies already in the industry. The classification of the competitive strategies of the companies, in turn, had as base the tipologia of generic strategies of Porter, with its definition of strategies of leadership in total cost, differentiation and approach. Referencial theoretical of this work also presents tipologias alternative to the one of Porter, as proposal for Mintzberg (1988) and Resource-Based View, that it is a chain that focuses the company of the point of view of the insumos and goes against diverse ideas of Porter, however still needs validation by means of empirical research. The tipologia of Porter if showed adequate to the classification of the strategies of the Brazilian siderurgical companies, however still it is an incognito if the additional Explanatory power that could be proportionate for the tipologia of Mintzberg would compensate its lesser level of parsimony in relation to the tipologia of Porter.

Masters in Public Administration - MPA / This research report, explores the challenges contributing to a non-effective implementation of performance and development management system at the Department of Social Development in Eastern Cape. My argument is that although the system has been fully implemented throughout the province and in all the layers of the department, there are still challenges that contribute to its ineffective implementation of this system. This research report debates a range of issues such as: challenges that revolve around the lack of proper knowledge and training in staff, non-alignment of performance contracts with operations of the department, attitudes of officials towards the system itself and the desired institutions operation that may contribute to its performance and achieve its objective of effective service delivery meaningfully. The research report also explores the paradigm shift of the department from a traditional welfarish approach to a one that focuses on social development. This research especially seeks to understand how the department seeks to plan for institutional change that will promote delivery its services to communities more. The reason for this focus derives from department is practice to provide services sectoralyand not in an integrated manner. Hence the critique, in this research is of the roles and responsibilities of all different layers of the department. This, I specifically argue for re-orientation of the department, not merely institutionally, but also strategically by adopting a social development approach to service delivery. / South Africa

The development and application of performance measurement systems for a purchasing function within a professional service company possesses a great challenge for both practitioners and academics. Despite the increasing popularity of this topic, the systems that are currently developed are rarely adequate to be applicable at the business-unit level. Furthermore, the existing productivity measures are predominantly designed to measure performance in industries where the inputs and outputs are both tangible and standardized items. Intangible and non-quantifiable factors of production cannot be reliably measured by manufacturing performance methodologies. Consequently, purchasing professionals seek tools to accurately track purchasing performances and connect it to given business strategies and objectives. This paper aims to develop a design of the performance measurement system that can be applicable onto the optimize-sourcing department of the selected firm of this study. The first section of the paper outlines key performance measurement concepts and establishes a theoretical framework that supports the following research. Subsequent questionnaires and interviews that were conducted with vital stakeholders reveal the flaws of the current performance measurement system. Conclusions derived from the interviews and questionnaires support the findings of extensive literature reviews. In the following chapters, the paper focuses on the development of the new model that overcomes limitations of the model in use. The thesis also lists additional recommendations on the implementation phase of the new model. In the final section, this paper emphasizes the limitations of the proposed model and describes potential challenges related to the implementation phase.
