Outbreak of Cutaneous Leishmaniasis in Peruvian Military Personnel Undertaking Training Activities in the Amazon Basin, 2010

Oré,Marianela, Sáenz, Eliana, Cabrera, Rufino, Sanchez, Juan F., De Los Santos, Maxy, Lucas, Carmen M., Núñez, Jorge, Edgel, Kimberly A., Sopan, Justino, Fernández, Jorge, Carnero, G, Andres M., Baldeviano, Christian, Arrasco, Juan C., Graf, Paul C. F., Lescano, Andres G. 20 June 2015 (has links)
Article / Military personnel deployed to the Amazon Basin are at high risk for cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL). We responded to an outbreak among Peruvian Army personnel returning from short-term training in the Amazon, conducting active case detection, lesion sample collection, and risk factor assessment. The attack rate was 25% (76/303); the incubation period was 2–36 weeks (median = 8). Most cases had one lesion (66%), primarily ulcerative (49%), and in the legs (57%). Real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) identified Leishmania (Viannia) braziliensis (59/61 = 97%) and L. (V.) guyanensis (2/61 = 3%). Being male (risk ratio [RR] = 4.01; P = 0.034), not wearing long-sleeve clothes (RR = 1.71; P = 0.005), and sleeping in open rooms (RR = 1.80; P = 0.009) were associated with CL. Sodium stibogluconate therapy had a 41% cure rate, less than previously reported in Peru (70%; P < 0.001). After emphasizing pre-deployment education and other basic prevention measures, trainees in the following year had lower incidence (1/278 = 0.4%; P < 0.001). Basic prevention can reduce CL risk in deployed militaries.

Escuela de Chalanes / Peruvian horse riding school

Baigorria Fernandez, Juan Diego 23 September 2019 (has links)
Since very young I became involved in this word of the Peruvian Horse and I have participated in numerous competitions as well as breeding. In the past years, I saw many people enjoying this show and the steadily elegance of this beast. However, I understood that with the limited resources we have, joined with the poor show off of this breed: despite of being a unique breed in the world, this passion would never become truly recognized as it should. So, the idea of having a Riding School in Lurin appeared. In a location that has history, amazing surroundings, good climate and more over in a place where people breathe and live this passion. In this way, research starts from the theoretical frame, teaching a little of history, evolution and roots of this breed. Then, the study of referential projects that despite of not being directly related help us to have an inside of what we were intending to do. In consequence, the study of the place, the user, the architectural program to reach a final result that suited the needs of these subject. With that said, the issue to be addressed in this graduation project is the commitment to improve the show off of the Peruvian Paso horse by creating a school of Chalanes as said before. But this time working in encounter an integration places where between users would share and learn their knowledge and points of view creating a complete experience.

Nascimento, Jorge Luiz do January 2010 (has links)
This work presents the formation of a political culture in the Peruvian context of the 20th century from an analysis of a significant part of the national press. The different approaches used by the most important political segments, the Peruvian oligarchy and the Partido Aprista Peruano, contributed decisively to widespread values, concepts and radical, authoritarian and even violent political practices through the main press, respectively the newspapers El Comercio and La Tribuna. Both were co-responsible for the frequent imposition of anomalous regimes such as military and civil dictatorships. Narrowing the scope of the research to the periods in which freedom of speech enabled the legal co-existence of both newspapers, especially between 1931/1932 and 1945/1948, it is possible to compare the content published to understand the establishment of these two political agents, their importance in the national political behavior as well as the unfolding of their political influences later on in history.

Several factors affect the activities of the mining industry. For example, accident rates are critical because they affect company ratings in the stock market (Standard & Poors). Considering that the corporate image is directly related to its stakeholders, this study conducts an accident analysis using quantitative and qualitative methods. In this way, the contingency rate is controlled, mitigated, and prevented while serving the needs) of the stakeholders. The Bayesian network method contributes to decision-making through a set of variables and the dependency relationships between them, establishing an earlier probability of unknown variables. Bayesian models have different applications, such as diagnosis, classification, and decision, and establish relationships among variables and cause–effect links. This study uses Bayesian inference to identify the various patterns that influence operator accident rates at a contractor mining company, and therefore, study and assess the possible differences in its future operations.

Análisis de la expansión internacional de franquicias peruanas del sector gastronómico a Latinoamérica y su Intensidad: Perspectiva del Franquiciante, operando en el exterior, al 2020 / Analysis of the international expansion of Peruvian franchises in the gastronomic sector to Latin America and the Intensity: Franchisor's perspective, operating abroad, by 2020

Asmat Velarde, Kevin Alejandro, Inocente Briceño, Maria Claudia 19 July 2020 (has links)
The purpose of this research is to identify the variables that drive the international expansion of Peruvian franchises in the gastronomic sector to Latin America. Moreover, it determines if there is a positive impact of the variables on the intensity of expansion of Peruvian franchises in Latin America in the gastronomic sector by 2020. To achieve these objectives, the following variables will be considered: franchising experience, brand awareness, attraction of the business concept and effectiveness of the adaptation of the business concept. For the intensity analysis, there were also four indicators like years operating as a franchise in Latin America, franchised units in Latin America, the number of countries in which the brand has a franchise presence and the average number of franchised units in Latin America by country. This research uses mixed analysis. For the quantitative research, a Logistic Regression analysis was used in order to identifying the variables that drive expansion and a Multiple Regression Analyses to measure the impact of the variables on the intensity of expansion of franchises. The results concluded with the variables of franchising experience and brand value as drivers of franchise expansion in Latin America. As a second conclusion, the variable franchising experience was identified as the only one that has an effect on the intensity of international expansion of franchises in the gastronomy sector. / Tesis
