Retrato da escola : estudo de imagens fotográficas do cotidiano escolar /

Almeida, Wilson Ricardo Antoniassi de. January 2011 (has links)
Explora-se o potencial das fotos como materialidade das imagens, suficiente para desvendar, compreender e descrever as semelhanças e contrastes entre o plano da intencionalidade e plano da realização / Abstract: This work proposes the study of photographic images that depict scenes and everyday situations in a public educational institution School of Limeira, São Paulo State, such as memory and historical source for education and as a means of understanding the reality of each event from their meanings, identifying aspects of school culture and analyzing any similarities and transformations in the educational process, in the period since the creation of educational institution (1934) to the present day (2010). The portrait of the school is unveiled, primarily through the reading and interpretation of photos - found in the file itself or institution albums collected portraits of people who have had some relationship with the school - because them are deposited an immense wealth of perceptos and affections. Every detail present in the photographic image is vestige that represents a time, a space, a situation and the relationship between people in a given context of history, functioning as an elucidation of the relationships between the school and the time. This research follows the historical traces diagnostic-philosophical, cultural and socioeconomic visible or invisible on the photographic image, as also of sensations, emotions and feelings that were triggered in the browser at the time of observation, interpreted according to their culture and subjectivity. To contextualize the situations with greater rigour and the data submitted by photographic images, research, occasionally using semi-structured - mainly testimonials of people who make up the environment presented by photography. Explores the potential of the photos as materiality of images, enough to uncover, understand and describe the similarities and contrasts between the plane of intentionality and the plan of implementation / Mestre

Implementation of radiation film dosimetry system to be used for the verification of a 3-D electron pencil-beam algorithm on a radiation treatment planning system

Jones, Quyen L. 11 June 2004 (has links)
Radiation film dosimetry process using the RIT 113 v.4 dosimetry software and the film digitizer VXR-l2plus was used to evaluate the accuracy of electron dose calculations of the RAHD radiation therapy treatment planning system at Samaritan Regional Cancer Center. Kodak Ready-Pack EDR-2 film is recommended for dose distribution analysis in clinically practical dose ranges. The pencil-beam algorithm has a limitation for calculating dose in the penumbra region and in the tail region where the dose falls off. / Graduation date: 2005

Interactive Stereoscopic Installation: A Photographic Collage

Kannapurakkaran, Shyam 2010 August 1900 (has links)
The research involves the creation of an interactive installation showcasing the dynamic nature of human visual observation of a still photograph. Using an eye tracker as an input device, the data collected is used to create a photographic collage in stereoscopic 3D. The installation is artistically inspired by selected photographic works of artists David Hockney, Maurizio Galimberti, Joyce Neimanas and Cubist painters especially Picasso. One of the key factors in their work that is adapted in this research, is the representation of the way eyes search points of interest demonstrated in what they painted/photographed. The installation will demonstrate an expressive representation of the viewers' experience of looking at a photograph. This will be achieved by applying certain manipulations of the photograph based on the input obtained from the viewer using an eye tracker. The eye tracker collects information about the location and number of instances of where the viewer is when observing a photograph. This is fed into software that processes the data and determines the location and the size of the area of the photograph and amount of the manipulation to be applied to that area. These two constitute the artistic rules that are used to create the end product the photo collage. The individual pieces of the collage will be arranged in a virtual 3D model by the artist and will be projected in stereoscopic 3D. The development of this installation progressed through multiple case studies and optimization based on ease of use, cost and availability of resources. This process is intended to be a framework for artists working in interactive visual media.

A Study on the Management Strategy of Photographic Processing and Printing Industry in Digitized New Era

Su, Li-yueh 11 July 2009 (has links)
The traditional film photography has been developing for 150 years. Before the digitized photography has been invented, the photos should be developed by the professional developing equipment of the photo studio. However, the trend of the digitized photography, which the photos are taken by the digital camera or camera phone are popular all over the world. The traditional film photographic developing and printing industry has to face the badly difficulty, when the digitization trend are like the flood to engulf the photography market. The purpose of the study is to understand the status quo and business management of the photographic processing and printing industry under the digitization trend. I apply the SWOT analysis and industry competitiveness analysis and conclude the competitive advantage, disadvantage and success factors of the photographic processing and printing industry. Hope the management strategy of the study can help the proprietor to run the business well. The purpose is as following: 1. To understand the status quo and management difficulty of the photographic processing and printing industry. 2. To explore the business model and strategy of the photographic processing and printing industry. 3. To provide the research results concluded by the study to the proprietor about the transformation strategy and help them on the business management. The study has concluded some suggestions for the photographic processing and printing industry as the following: 1. The proprietor should have the sense of crisis and instant problem solving ability. 2. The photographic processing and printing industry should organize a powerful team to lead themselves to create a new stage of development. 3. The proprietor of the photographic processing and printing industry should cooperate to plan the systematic developing strategy to promote the depression of the industry. 4. The proprietor of the photographic processing and printing industry should enhance the ability of marketing that can help them to know well about the marketing information.

Technological evolution and the 'construction' of dominant designs in the imaging industry

Munir, Kamal A. January 2001 (has links)
All industries occasionally experience technological shocks or 'discontinuities.' These discontinuities may be competence-enhancing or competence-destroying. Competence-destroying discontinuities threaten to render existing capabilities obsolete and lead to 'eras of ferment' in which the new technology competes with the old one. At the same time, several designs within the new technology struggle for dominance. Managers faced with such a situation need to make several important decisions, perhaps the most important of which involve the selection of technologies to adopt or develop. Existing competencies and market positions provide strong constraints on the objective of meeting evolving customer expectations. The decisions are expensive and fraught with risks. Naturally, a better understanding of how technologies tend to evolve and why particular designs become dominant, while others, equally plausible ones, do not, would help managers make more informed decisions and avoid costly mistakes or even the prospect of lock-out. / This primary aim of this dissertation was the development of a better theoretical understanding of this complex process. Relying primarily on archival data, narratives were constructed around four cases of radical technology shifts in the photographic industry. When woven with existing theoretical insights, these narratives yielded a new perspective on technology dominance. It proposes that contrary to the popular perception that customers eventually adopt technologies that meet their needs 'better,' the success or failure of a new technology is dependent on the extent to which its proponent can build it into the emerging institutional context. This involves opening the design up to embody the interests of key stakeholders as well as structuring the field. At the same time associations and linkages are created between the technology and existing structures. "Enrolling" institutions in this manner stabilizes the nascent technology, reducing its disruptiveness and creating positive externalities around it. How long the design stays dominant depends upon its position in the industry architecture (Christensen, 1997). If it is positioned as an obligatory passage point (Latour, 1987), it is likely to stay dominant for much longer than if it is simply the foremost technological solution to the central problem.
