A pesquisa analisa a transição do tema da arte religiosa para a secular e revela uma faceta do gosto seiscentista. O trabalho inclui um catálogo que cobre a história da iconografia desde as origens, no século IV, até o Seiscentos. Variações na interpretação do tema no interior das diversas escolas de pintura italiana do período também são analisadas / Abstract: This dissertation focuses on the iconography ofJoseph and Potiphar 's Wife in ltalian painting of the 17th Century, an inherently erotic subject from the Old Testament that became very sought after by private collectors during this period. It follows the transition from religious to secular art and reviews a particular aspect ofthe history oftaste. It also proposes a catalogue that covers the whole story ofthis iconography from its origin in the 4th Century until the Seicento. Variations in the interpretation of this theme within the different schools of painting in ltaly are also discussed. / Mestrado / Mestre em História
