Studium proudění nemísitelných kapalin / Study of the flow of immiscible liquids

Malá, Kateřina January 2020 (has links)
This thesis explores the topic of flow of two immiscible liquids in horizontal pipeline. For this purpose, the experimental apparatus has been set up, that allows to observe the flow of mixture through the transparent pipe. Moderately viscous oil and water (viscosity ratio: 52,81, density ratio: 0.86, interfacial tension: 41,64 mN/m) have been chosen for the experiment. Both fluids were introduced into the pipe through a T-junction. At the end of the apparatus, a mixture of liquids flowed into the separation tank, where both phases were separated. The separated oil was then reused for further measurements. The oil and water flow rates could be individually changed by use control valves, that led to identification of different flow regimes. These varied from stratified flows to fully dispersed ones as the mixture speed increased. All observed flow regimes were plotted in the flow map, that is a function of the inlet velocities of both fluids. For further analysis, a second type of flow map has been created that displays rates as a function of mixture velocity and phase volume fraction. Selected regime was also simulated using software ANSYS FLUENT. The VOF method was used to simulate multiphase flow. This thesis critically evaluates the results of the study and shows the direction for further research in the field of immiscible liquids flow.

Parní turbína - návrh potrubní trasy kondenzátu / Steam turbine - pipeline design

Kotas, Jakub January 2020 (has links)
The master thesis deals with the design, tracing and dimensioning of condensate pipeline. In the beginning, a preliminary calculation of heat balance is done. It is followed by a description of the main condensate system supplemented by the computational design of pipeline and the calculation of pressure losses in this pipeline. The crucial part of the thesis is the calculation of pressure losses, which is done in two ways. The first approach to calculation of pressure losses in the pipeline is calculated using values of representative resistance coefficient for pipe ele-ments using Idelchik literature and for individual types of valves using values from datasheets of Siemens Energy suppliers. In the second approach to calculation representative resistance coefficients for pipe elements and individual types of valves CRANE literature are used. Then both approaches of choosing representative resistance coefficients are compared and evaluated. Based on the calculated values, a suitable pump is selected at the end of the master thesis.

Dobiáš, Roman January 2021 (has links)

Analýza proudění v potrubí kruhového i nekruhového průřezu metodou využívající rozložení hustoty vířivosti po průřezu / Analysis of the Fluid Flow in Pipes Circular and Not Circular Cross-Section With Methods Using Distribution of the Vorticity Density

Soukup, Lubomír January 2016 (has links)
The doctoral thesis deals with the analysis of the flow in the circular and not circular cross-section pipes by methods using the distribution of the vorticity density. This analysis is particularly focused on the derivation of the new velocity profiles formulas using the above mentioned method. In this work is presented a historical overview of the derived velocity profiles. This overview of already derived velocity profiles will be a fundamental benchmark for newly derived velocity profiles. These new velocity profiles are derived for the circular and not circular cross-section pipes and the derivation is based on the analogy of electromagnetic induction by using Biot-Savart law. It is necessary to apply this analogy at first on solitary vortex filament. By taking this step is possible to get the value of the induced velocity from one solitary vortex filament. Subsequently it is possible to obtain the value of the induced velocity from the vorticity wall and afterwards from the vorticity density distribution over the cross section. This work contains also the results of the experimental measurements of the velocity profiles, and of the CFD simulations. Experimentally measured results are used besides other for the selecting of the most suitable CFD computational model. Selected CFD model will be subsequently declared as a reference model and the valid velocity profiles for this model will serve with the experimentally measured data as a benchmark for the newly derived velocity profiles.

Geopolitická rivalita ve Střední Asii a moc Turkmenistánu jako slabého státu / Geopolitical Rivalry in Central Asia and Turkmenistan's power as a weak state

Welsink, Emma January 2019 (has links)
Thesis abstract: Geopolitical Rivalry in Central Asia and Turkmenistan's power as a weak state Charles University, Institute of International Studies, MAS programme 2019 Emma Welsink English Abstract Research on weak states and their position in the international system has been a widely discussed topic for decades, especially in relation to the Cold War bipolar system that revolved around Russia and the United States as great powers. Yet what is lacking is a contemporary analysis that concentrates on the current multipolar system in which the importance of economic alliances and power surpass military power, and how this affects weak states' foreign policy behavior and trade opportunities. This research therefore offers an empirical analysis on great power geopolitical competition between Russia and China over Turkmenistan's economic allegiance, specifically regarding its natural gas export, and seeks to explain how this geopolitical competition has affected Turkmenistan's foreign energy policy behavior as a weak state vis-á-vis these great powers. Additionally, this research seeks to examine how Turkmenistan has even instrumentalized this competition to further its national interest of energy export diversification. More specifically, this research shows that great power competition has played a...

Päßler, Steffen 19 May 2015 (has links)
What are the Underlying Factors for the Poor Implementation of the Free, Prior, and Informed Consent Principle in Australia, Canada, and the United States? : A Qualitative Comparative Study

Bashir Ahmed, Isra January 2022 (has links)
It has been 15 years since the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples recognized the Free, Prior and Informed consent Principle, yet it has not been able to function to its fullest potential. This Thesis aims to carry out a Qualitative Comparative Analysis of the following three countries of Australia, Canada, and the United States. With the hypothesis, that the underlying factors behind this failure can be attributed to Settler-Colonialism and Global Capitalism. To carry out this study Theoretical Frameworks based on Settler-Colonial studies and a critique of the Stakeholder theory named Critical Stakeholder Analysis (CSA) will be employed. Using the existing body of research in this area of inquiry as a point of departure, this thesis attributes the failure to implement the Free, Prior, and Informed Consent principle to its fullest potential on asymmetrical power dynamics, settler-colonial structures, and profitability.
