Conceptual Design of a South Pole Carrier Pigeon UAVDlima, Kendrick M 01 June 2020 (has links)
Currently, the South Pole has a large data problem. It is estimated that 1.2 TB of data is being produced every day, but less than 500 GB of that data is being uploaded via aging satellites to researchers in other parts of the world. This requires those at the South Pole to analyze the data and carefully select the parts to send, possibly missing out on vital scientific information. The South Pole Carrier Pigeon will look to bridge this data gap.
The Carrier Pigeon will be a small unmanned aerial vehicle that will carry a 30 TB solid-state hard drive from the South Pole to various destinations in the Southern Hemisphere, but it has been designed to y to Christchurch, New Zealand. This 87 lb. UAV will be able to y 3,650 nmi. up to 25,000 ft., using a 5.7 hp. engine. It will feature an de-icing system on the leading edge of its 8 ft. span wing to allow it to y through cold, moist climates. It will have a 39 in. long fuselage with a tail boom of 33 in.
The aircraft has been designed to be made out of composites, thus reducing both the weight of the aircraft as well as its drag. It has been designed to come apart in order to be shipped successfully to the South Pole. There, it will be assembled and launched via a custom pneumatic launcher. It will y autonomously to 15,000 ft. and cruise climb throughout the flight to 25,000 ft., before descending to its destination. There, it will be caught by a net restraint system, where the hard drive will be extracted. The Carrier Pigeon is truly a unique vehicle for its size, range, and robustness.

Elektronicky komutovaný stroj / Electronically commutated motorVykopal, Petr January 2008 (has links)
The main idea that lead to the development of EC (electronic commutation) motors is to remove from commutation motors, called DC (direct current) motors, the mechanical commutation system i.e. the cylinder brushes and the commutator that limits in most of the applications the longevity of direct current motors. The commutator is the source of electromagnetic interference and it limits the motor speed. At the same time it is required to keep the outstanding features of DC motors, mainly the multiple overload capacity, high starting torque, low time constant and small dimensions. Thesis introduces the problematic of electrically switched machines and their possible construction versions. Based on obtained findings there is performed an analytical calculation of EC-machine with classical stator (made with two grooves on pole and phase) and with segmental stator for given parameters. With the known parameters of the machines from personal design there were created models of both machine types, and the results obtained from the program FEMM were compared to those of analytical calculations.

Vliv vodivých vzorků na vznik deformací vf magnetického pole / Impact of conductive material on RF magnetic field deformationVondra, Petr January 2009 (has links)
The work analyses formation of deformations of RF magnetic field within the environment of electrically and magnetically conductive materials. An analytic solution of the problem is created and the problems of numerical modeling are solved. In theoretical way, the work also familiarize with the use of magnetic resonance imaging method - the spin echo method (SE), with its features and possibilities of its use within the aim of the project. This method is used for experimental measurements of electrically conductive materials in the NMR laboratory in ISI AV Czech Republic. Results of the simulation are compared with results of the experimental measurement.

Měření iontových polí / Ion fields measurementSvozil, Radek January 2009 (has links)
The aim of this semester project is the introduction to the problematic of ion fields, where and under what circumstances they originate and extinct and the techniques of measurement. The project will deal with the atmosphere and the electrical field of the Earth. I will consider the composition of the atmosphere and the principles of origin and extinction of ions. I am going to mention the division of ions and their influence on the living organisms. Another topic to be dealt with is the methods for measuring the air ions and the small currents. Gradually we are going to learn the known methods of the measuring of air ions. We are going to get a closer look at the method of measuring with the cylindrical aspiration capacitor. We are also going to deal with the problem of measuring very low currents, where they originate and how it is possible to compensate them. The outcome of the project should be the concept and later the creation of the sonde for the measuring of the ion fields itself.

Lokalizace pohyblivých akustických zdrojů / Localization of moving acoustical sourcesBezdíček, Martin January 2010 (has links)
This master's thesis is focused on localization static (entering semester project) and moving acoustic sources (entering master's thesis) by the help of microphonic arrays. In the first part deal with common problems of localization. Further are here described types of microphonic arrays, simplifying possibilities which delimited this problems and general information about room acoustics. In the next part of this master's thesis are step by step mentioned methods localization of acoustic sources. In practical part were used algorithms: Steered-Beamformer-Based Locators and TDOA-Based Locators. Last part of this master's work includes results of these algorithms.

Knihovna stavebních prvků koaxiálního filtru pro CST Microwave Studio / Library of building elements of coaxial filters for CST Microwave StudioVorek, Jiří January 2010 (has links)
This thesis deals with development of tool – macros which help to create coaxial cavity filters. It describes problematic design of complex structures at CST Studio Suite 2009. For this purpose macros supporting coarse and fine model to method Tuning – Space Mapping (TSM) was made. This means creating fine model at CST MWS and coarse model at CST DS.

Testování prostorové akustiky / Testing of room acousticsToufarová, Tereza January 2011 (has links)
This paper presents parameters of evaluation of acoustic quality of the space. It is divided into parts presenting physical principle of the origin and movement of the acoustic signal, principles of its processing with current technology and properties of the acoustic field. This is followed by an analysis of the musical part and notes on psychoacoustics. The document contains a description of relevant parameters of acoustic spaces and way in which we can reach desired results, including material analysis. The paper mainly focuses on description of relevant parameters of three acoustic spaces which were measured. The last part of the work is a program for elementary acoustical measurement, which can be provided by means of commonly accessible equipment such as a notebook or a personal computer.

Studium vlivu magnetických polí na biologické tkáně / Study of the influence of magnetic fields on biological tissueVlachová Hutová, Eliška January 2012 (has links)
The aim of this research is to explore the influence of magnetic field on early somatic embryos (ESEs) of spruce and pine. The magnetic field is gradual. This is important for the experiment, each cluster of ESE was exposed to magnetic field of different intensity. The resulting report of this experiment consists of the comparison between various methods of image analysis and the difference in growth of ESEs due to different exposure to magnetic field and surrounding temperature. Enclosed is a proposal of ESE size computing algorithm from a given image.

This thesis deals with distribution of magnetic fields in the DC machine. Part of this thesis is the introduction of DC machines, principles of operation and distribution of DC machines. There is also discussed electrically commutated motors. The thesis demonstrates the types of permanent magnets and their properties. Then there is an analysis of the magnetic field electrically commutated motor Atas Nachod in the Ansoft Maxwell. Using Ansoft Simplorer, switching is carried out of the engine.
