This diploma thesis is focused on marketing, specifically the communication mix. The theoretical part defines the most important concepts needed to understand the issue. At the same time, there are described analyzes, which will be later used in the analytical part, that evaluates the current state of the selected company. Based on that analyzes, the last part of the thesis will propose solutions to the identified deficiencies to correspond with the main goal of the work.

Risk management in developing countries

My thesis will focus on risk management practically in developing countries. In this research study, first a literature review about the concept of risk management and its concerns is provided which is the output of extensive review of resources such as journal papers, books and research studies. Then a case study will be reviewed in Iran which is considered as a developing country. In this step, the researcher attempts to extract needed information for her research based on the theory of frames. After gathering needed information the findings which are extracted from practical environment are compared to the academics material to answer the questions which are defined in the primary steps. Meanwhile, the main purpose of this study is reviewing the conditions of work environment in developing countries and extract main concerns and compare them to the standards, methodologies and tools and techniques of risk management to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of using these tools in performing risk management in developing countries.

The aim of the thesis is to analyse the product range manufactured by the company TON, which is a traditional Czech producer of bent wood furniture and especially chairs. The company TON has managed to maintain its position in the market for long 150 years, mainly thanks to the sensitive perception of changes in customer needs and adapting its product portfolio meeting them. In the theoretical part of the thesis are defined the basic concept of the marketing mix, product mix and described the methods and analysis as SLEPT analysis, Porter analysis, Portfolio analysis and Pareto analysis, which are then used in the practical part of the thesis. Based on the analysis there are formulated the conclusions which give recommendations on optimizing the product range and on effective use of certain elements of marketing mix for placing the product portfolio on target markets.

In the practical part, internal company data of EVONA a.s. served to analyze the product range by using Boston Consulting Group matrix and General Electric Business matrix. To illustrate the situation a survey was carried out and it helped in the final recommendations of the product range.
