[pt] A presente dissertação analisa as trajetórias prisionais de cinco militantes comunistas que, por conta das suas práticas políticas, sofreram perseguição e prisão durante o primeiro governo de Getúlio Vargas (1930-1945). Para tanto, são privilegiadas como fontes principais deste trabalho as obras autobiográficas escritas por estes homens. Buscamos entender as obras dentro dos seus contextos de escrita e publicação, mas também o que elas nos dão a ver sobre a experiência de estar preso nas Casas de Detenção e prisões insulares de Fernando de Noronha e Ilha Grande, assim como o deslocamento marítimo feito enquanto preso, durante aquelas décadas, ao que chamamos de cárcere em movimento. O objetivo é compreender como estes sujeitos, ao narrar as experiências de prisão, construíram a identidade de preso político e, de forma dialética, construíram também uma imagem do chamado preso comum como o seu outro, oposto, negativo e estigmatizado. Assim, a pretensão deste trabalho é contribuir para um entendimento mais complexo da experiência de prisão política vivida pelos autores nas décadas de 1930 e 1940, posteriormente narradas e tomadas como categoria pouco questionada pela historiografia. / [en] The present thesis analyses the trajectory of five left-wing activists that, due to their political activities, were persecuted and arrested during the first government of Getúlio Vargas (1930 -1945). We focus on the autobiographies and memoirs written by these men, a collection of works that make a corpus of documentary. We aim to understand their works within the contexts such texts were written and published. It is also our intent to acquire from them a vision about the experience of being a convict in the Casas de Detenção and insular prisons of Fernando de Noronha and Ilha Grande, as well as the transportation by the sea done as a prisoner, throughout those decades, that we denominate itinerant jail. The objective of the analytic outline is to understand how these subjects, when describing their convict experiences, built an identity of political prisoner and, in a dialectical form, also built the image of the so-called common prisoner as their other, opposite, negative and stigmatized. In this sense, the objective of this work is to contribute to a more complex understanding of the political prison lived by the authors in the decades of 1930 and 1940, later narrated and not very questioned by the historiography.

O trabalho identifica e analisa a relação entre prisão e tempo, a partir das perspectivas dos agentes sociais envolvidos nos contextos penitenciários – Juízes, Administradores de estabelecimentos carcerários e Presos. Os dados coletados, os quais têm como eixo o instituto da remição da pena privativa de liberdade, identificam as dinâmicas e estratégias de capitalização do tempo prisional e da disciplina dos apenados. A pesquisa permite uma percepção mais crítica da complexidade dos ambientes carcerários, desvelando dinâmicas de temporalização – experiência e sensação social do tempo – que estão inseridas num contexto permeado por conflitos e estratégias de dominação entre os agentes sociais e no qual se identificam processos compatíveis com uma noção de campo (no sentido Bourdieusiano) e seu correlato jogo. / This paper work identifies and analyzes the relationship between prison and time, from the perspectives of the social agents' involved in the penitentiary contexts - Judges, prison establishments administrators and prisoners. The collected data, which have as axis the institute of the redemption of the private penalty of freedom, identifies the dynamics and strategies of capitalization of the detention time and the discipline of the prisoners. The research allows a more critic perception of the complexity of the prison atmospheres, revealing temporary dynamics - experience and social time sensation - that are inserted in a conflicts permeated context and domination strategies among social agents which identify suitable processes with a field notion (in the sense Bourdieusiano) and its correlates game.

A presente dissertação tem por objetivo identificar as representações sociais da ressocialização, por meio da escola, de prisioneiros masculinos de presídios situados no Rio de Janeiro. A legislação brasileira tem, entre seus princípios organizadores, o conceito de ressocialização de prisioneiros, ao estabelecer limites de duração da pena e impedir a pena de morte. Entretanto, ao analisarmos as condições carcerárias existentes neste ideário de ressocialização, verificamos que este ideário não possui e nem produz eficácia. A oferta de educação, para presidiários, ocorreu no Brasil a partir de 1967 e atualmente está em vigor a Lei n 12.433, de 29 de junho de 2011, que estabelece uma correlação entre a educação formal e a remição de pena. A dissertação trata de um breve histórico da educação no sistema penal brasileiro, considerando seus limites e potencialidades. O referencial teórico utilizado foi o da Teoria das Representações Sociais como apresentada por Serge Moscovici (1978) em sua pesquisa original sobre as representações sociais da psicanálise. O referencial teórico adotado permitiu a identificação desta espécie de pensamento social em um grupo de presidiários que frequenta a escola no presídio, priorizando a relação entre escola e ressocialização. Foram entrevistados 80 sujeitos do sexo masculino, em presídios da capital do estado do Rio de Janeiro, com a devida autorização do presídio, da Secretaria de Estado da Educação e com o rigor no cumprimento das normas éticas estabelecidas para pesquisa com humanos, especialmente a garantia de anonimato. A representação de comportamento no presídio resume-se ao conceito de enquadramento, que significa uma série de atitudes e de pensamento que permitem a sobrevivência no interior do presídio. A escola foi compreendida, pelos sujeitos, como instituição também determinada pelo enquadramento. Mesmo a escola tendo sido bem avaliada e apresentando perspectivas de futuro para a ressocialização, os sujeitos consideraram que a família é o principal agente de ressocialização à frente da escola. Consideramos que, para os presidiários, a escola pode representar possibilidades de ressocialização, entretanto deve aprimorar suas atividades para o mundo do trabalho e para a constituição de redes sociais de afinidade, com a família lato sensu dos prisioneiros, para que sua eficácia seja real e potente. / This dissertation aims to identify the social representations of resocialization through school for male prisoners in prisons located in Rio de Janeiro. Although the school has been thoroughly evaluated and has presented prospects for resocialization, prisoners consider the family to be the main agent of resocialization ahead of school. We believe that, for the inmates, the school may represent the possibility of resocialization. However, it should direct its activities towards the job market and the social networking affinity with the family lato senso of the prisoners, so that its effectiveness can be real and powerful.

The aim of the diploma thesis was to analyze the availability of prison spiritual care in prisons, detention prisons and detention facilities in the Czech Republic and also description of the Prison spiritual service, the possibilities of using this service and the most frequent problems connected with it. The theoretical part describes an introduction to the problems of the Czech prison system and spiritual care in prison facilities in the Czech Republic. In the area of providing spiritual support in the Czech Republic there are a Prison spiritual service performed by prison chaplains, Prison voluntary care provided trained volunteers in this area and a Prison Fellowship International.The practical part of the thesis was done by means of a questionnaire survey, which was used to map out the availability of prison spiritual care. There participated prison chaplains, the public, and some members of the prison voluntary care as respondents in this research. The aim of the thesis was achieved with the help of obtaining information in the theoretical part of the thesis, but also thanks to the questionnaire research from the practical part. From questionnaire research and from analysis of available sources, I came to the conclusion that the availability of Prison spiritual service in the Czech Republic is not sufficient because it is not provided in all prison facilities. If convicted or accused persons were interested in this service in facilities where it is not provided, they do not have the opportunity to reach it. The results show that if the number of prison chaplains continues to, the availability of spiritual care in prisons and detention prisons in the Czech Republic would be better, and then it would be possible to provide it even in those facilities, where it is not available now. The second questionnaire survey revealed that the public does not have enough information about the prison spiritual service. Half of the respondents said, that they mostly did not hear about prison spiritual service, but still they thought it was necessary, so it would be good to give the public more information about this problems, for example, using regional newspapers or regional television stations.

Community-based Reentry in Arlington County: An Evaluation of the OAR Reentry ProgramJanuary 2014 (has links)
abstract: The effectiveness of community-based reentry programs is dependent on several factors, including financial and human capital resources, a clear organizational mission, the establishment and implementation of evidence-based practices and an effective referral network. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of the Offender Aid and Restoration (OAR) reentry program in Arlington, Virginia from the client's perspective as well as to identify challenges faced by the organization in meeting the needs of ex-offenders. The study used a mixed methods case study approach using three primary sources of data including a client satisfaction survey, semi-structured staff interviews and the review of client records. Client satisfaction surveys were used to evaluate services received by clients in the reentry program. Staff interviews were conducted to document OAR's service delivery model as well as highlight challenges faced in meeting the needs of ex-offenders. Client case records where reviewed to determine the alignment of needs identified during intake with services provided.The findings of this study show that overall, clients are highly satisfied with services received. Staff interviews indicated a need for additional staff to support program operations, training for program staff, increased funding and community-based resources as a key challenge in meeting the needs of ex-offenders in the program. A review of client case files identified a need for systematic collection and documentation of client goals and outcomes. Implications for theory and practice suggest areas for future research and strategies for implementing effective community-based reentry programs. / Dissertation/Thesis / Doctoral Dissertation Public Administration 2014
