A Problem Analysis at Tieto Leading to the Development of a Test-Data-Handler Application

Hallgren, Ellen January 2012 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis is to provide the Maftaki team at Tieto a proposal of a tool or improve one of the current tools that will support their processes. In order to find a suitable tool a problem analysis model, as described by Goldkuhl and Rostlinger (1988), was used. To find out what kind of problem existed, members from the Maftaki team were interviewed. Out of the problems that were brought up during the interviews, difficulties with finding telephone numbers that can be used in the testing environment at testing was chosen. In order to solve the problem, a tool that handles test data was to be developed. Firstly, a requirement elicitation was performed by interviewing potential users of the system. In this way, use cases and functional requirements were elicited. A framework called Struts2, an Object-relational Mapping framework, Hibernate and an Inversion of Control container, Spring was used during the development. Maven was used for building the application. During the development demos were performed in order to elicit more requirements from the users and to clarify some requirements. Also refactoring was done continuously during the development. When the development of the application was done a couple of test cases were written and some basic testing of the application were performed .

An Infrastructure to Support Usability Problem Data Analysis

Howarth, Jonathan R. 18 May 2004 (has links)
Increasing the usability of software by integrating usability engineering into the development cycle has become common practice. Although usability engineering is effective, it can be expensive, and organizations want to receive the best possible returns on their investments. Oftentimes, however, organizations spend large sums of money collecting usability problem data through activities such as usability testing, but do not receive acceptable returns on those investments during redesign. The primary reason is that there is an almost complete lack of methods and tools for usability problem data analysis to transform raw usability data into effective inputs for developers. In this thesis, we develop an infrastructure for usability problem data analysis to address the need for better returns on usability engineering investments. The infrastructure consists of four main components: a framework, a process, tools, and semantic analysis technology. Embedded within the infrastructure is the User Action Framework, a conceptual framework of usability concepts, which is used to organize usability data. The process addresses extraction of usability problems from raw usability data, diagnosis of problems according to usability concepts, and reporting of problems in a form that is usable by developers. The tools leverage the framework and guide practitioners through the process, while the semantic analysis technology supplements the capabilities of the tools to automate parts of the process. / Master of Science

The development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to computational systems is a complex activity, given the nature of the problems attacked, in particular when they involve multi-agent problems and multitasking (MAMT). Although there are several methods for the development of Multi-agent System (MAS), there are just a few that give any importance to understanding the problem; and even these methods do not address the problems with all detailing that MAMT problems needs. Addressing the deficiency of these methods, we are proposing the Icelus method that focuses on leading the analyst to understand and describe correctly the problem to be solved. Icelus will enable a better approach in the analysis and understanding of a MAMT problem, facilitating the distribution of knowledge to the rest of the development team, reducing the risk of coding errors throughout the development of the project.

Identifikácia, analýza a návrh riešení problémov spolupráce vybraných firiem / The identification, analysis and problem solution proposals in the cooperation of the chosen organizations

Chovanová, Katarína January 2015 (has links)
The focus of this thesis is an identification and analysis of problems which have occurred till now in the cooperation between two chosen organizations, followed by problem solution proposals. Methodology of two sociologists Charles H. Kepner and Benjamin B. Tregoe will be used to undertake this analysis. The thesis is divided in two parts, theoretical and practical. The aim of the theoretical part is to define the various concepts that will be used in this work, such as the Kepner-Tregoe methodology or definition of a problem. The practical part is oriented on the analysis of the cooperation of the chosen organizations and the problems that have occurred with the use of the mentioned methodology. The purpose of the thesis is to propose possible solutions and chose the most appropriate.

The effect of problem solving management by critical analysis training on administrators' problem analysis and judgement productivity in an urban school district

Okojie, Felix Aletor 01 December 1985 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to gather data regarding the effectiveness of training in problem solving management by critical analysis. The focus of the study therefore, was to determine if training in problem solving management by critical analysis would increase levels of problem analysis and judgment productivity in a group of administrators. Previous research studies indicate positive relationships between training in problem solving and improved performance of administrators in their task efforts. Twenty-six administrative and supervisory staff members in an urban school district took part in the study. Using a randomized pretest-posttest research design, subjects were divided into an experimental and a control group. The experimental group was exposed to training sessions in problem management by critical analysis based upon writings by Elbing (1978), Drake (1976), Ennis (1962) and Rickards (1974). The control group received no training. All subjects were pretested using the Watson-Glaser Critical Thinking Appraisal, Form A. Following the training sessions with the experimental group, all subjects were post-tested using the Watson-Glaser Critical Thinking Appraisal, Form B. The Critical Thinking Appraisal Forms A and B thus yielded a numerical score for each of the five subtests on problem analysis and judgment productivity-inference, recognition of assumptions, deduction, interpretation, and evaluation of arguments. A null hypothesis was constructed to deal with experimental and control group comparison and possible differences with the training sessions functioning as the independent variable and the post-test scores functioning as the dependent variable. To determine if gains by any group were significant, a t-test was applied to the data. The .05 level of confidence was utilized to determine if data were significant. This analysis reported a gain in problem analysis and judgmental productivity in the experimental group and none in the control group. It was therefore concluded that the gain or differences reported in the post-test results, can be directly attributed to the training sessions in problem solving management by critical analysis.

Guidelines for a remedial reading programme for standard one and two pupils

Nel, Norma 01 1900 (has links)
A synopsis of the importance and the nature of reading serve as the point of departure for this study. The pupils involved are learning restrained as well as A comprehensive reading problem analysis table, compiled for analysis of individual reading problems, facilitates identification of the remedial reading areas, as well as the underlying subskills causing the problems to be accommodated in remedial reading. A control chart, developed for recording the information concerning the pupil's reading problem area and underlying subskills, facilitates compilation of an integrated remedial reading programme. Existing exercises, selected from the works of various authors and adapted, provide guidelines and exercises for particular remedial reading areas. These guidelines serve as a point of departure for the compilation of a specific remedial reading programme for a particular pupil with reading problems. Two case studies elucidate how a remedial reading programme can be compiled according to the pupil's background, reading problems and inadequacies in the underlying subskills. Group A learning disabled pupils although learning disabled pupils in Group B and C can also be involved. The total reading process is illustrated by means of a reading model. The two main components, namely, word identification and comprehension, form the basis of this study. The different subcategories featuring in each component are highlighted. This model serves as a framework for the diagnosis and remediation of reading problems. A teaching model is used to illustrate the complexity of teaching. The factors ( within the teaching model are indicated, as well as the ways they may serve when reading is taught. The reduction and choice of reading content for a specific pupil are set out as important aspects to be taken into consideration in reading remediation. Determining each pupil's reading levels, namely, his/her independent level, instructional level and frustrational level, enables the teacher to choose the appropriate reading material. / Teacher Education / D.
