Gamybos planavimo sistemos / Production planning systemsŠeškevičius, Ramelijus 11 August 2009 (has links)
In my company sometimes appear some mistakes in production planning. Some resources were used in not effective way. There was a decision to install production planning system. There were two opportunities: to buy or to create production planning system. There were some requirements for that system. So the goal was to find production planning system which satisfy all requirements. To realize the goal need to do: - To analyze production planning systems in the market - If found correct system then install it, if not, create production planning system - To compare production indexes before installing production planning system and after that In this article there is comparison of production planning systems in the market. There was not found correct system in the market so decision was to create our own production planning system. The system was created, tested and installed successfully. After installation of production planning system production mistakes disappear, was started more effective usage of production resources and in planning department left only one worker instead of three.

Production planning in JS McMillan Fisheries Ltd. : catch allocation decision support tool designBegen, Mehmet Atilla 05 1900 (has links)
JS McMillan Fisheries Ltd. (JSM) is a Vancouver-based company with operations in
nearly all levels of the commercial fishing industry, from supply through distribution.
The heart of the operation is the processing facilities where freshly caught Pacific
salmon are prepared for sale to end consumers and institutional buyers. As the
operations of JSM evolved, the decision making for allocating a catch of salmon with
varying characteristics amongst a set of final products has become too complex and
time consuming.
The focus of this study is to determine an effective and efficient method for JSM to
allocate daily a fresh salmon harvest between the various products they produce on
a daily basis. The goal is short-term production planning, to allocate the catch
among the products in such a manner that the profit potential of the catch is
maximized, i.e. prepare a production schedule that maximizes the total profit over
the planning horizon. Additional goals of this project include: automation of the
decision making process for the catch allocation, "what if" planning, decreasing
expert dependency, reducing decision making time, and building a practical and
innovative decision support tool.
In order to solve this problem efficiently and effectively, optimization models were
developed for allocating the catch to the end products. A corresponding decision
support tool was built for the end-users at JSM. / Business, Sauder School of / Graduate

DYNAMIC PRODUCTION PLANNING WITH SUBCONTRACTING.Wu, Yih-Bor January 1987 (has links)
This research is concerned with scheduling production over a finite planning horizon in a capacitated manufacturing facility. It is assumed that a second source of supply is available by means of subcontracting and that the demand varies over time. The problem is to establish the production level in the facility and/or the ordering quantity from the subcontractor for each period in the planning horizon. Firstly, the cost functions are analyzed and two types of realistic production cost models are identified. Then mathematical models are developed for two different problems. One is a single criterion problem aimed at minimizing the total production and inventory costs. The other is a bicriterion problem which seeks the efficient frontier with respect to the total cost and the number of subcontractings, both to be minimized, over the planning horizon. For each of the above, two methods, namely, a general dynamic programming approach and an improved dynamic programming approach (Shortest path method) are presented. Several results are obtained for reducing the computations in solving these problems. Based on these results, algorithms are developed for both problems. The computational complexity of these algorithms are also analyzed. Two heuristic rules are then suggested for obtaining near-optimal solutions to the first problem with lesser computation. Both rules have been tested extensively and the results indicate advantages of using them. One of these rules is useful for solving the uncapacitated problem faster without losing optimality. The above results are then extended to other cases where some of the assumptions in the original problem are relaxed. Finally, we studied the multi-item lot-sizing problem with the subcontracting option and proposed a heuristic for solving the problem by the Lagrangean relaxation approach. We demonstrated that with an additional capacity constraint in the dual problem the feasible solution and the lower bound obtained during each iteration converge much faster than without it. After testing some randomly generated problems we found that most of the solutions obtained from the heuristic are very close to the best lower bound obtained from the dual problem within a limited number of iterations.

Facilities integration in a potentially reconfigurable manufacturing environment20 January 2009 (has links)
M.Ing. / Potential variation in tasks and relative location of manufacturing equipment (machine tools, robot, automated guided vehicles etc.) resulting from the need to restructure the production environment, require efficient and effective communication for optimal performance. The work presented makes use of information and data flow within a system to achieve an integrated and dynamic environment. Models are presented to describe the integration of processing and auxiliary equipment and to select auxiliary equipment for a specific environment. An analytical approach is included for the integration. Specific examples are included. The work presented attempts to contribute to the flexibility of modern manufacturing environments by integrating all facilities in the environment.

January 2018 (has links)
Abstract: A behavioral analysis of the flow of production orders and resources that form a production system provides an indication of where to improve this system. The Theory of Constraints (TOC) suggests three approaches for identifying and improving resource constraints aiming to entirely affect the system: based on the largest queue of work-in-progress, the highest utilization level, and using the buffer management method. This study aims to assess the performance of these approaches comparing them with each other and with two others: dispersed improvements in all the resources and random improvements. Data was taken and analyzed from a simulated make-to-stock (MTS) environment, managed using the Simplified Drum Buffer Rope (S-DBR) method. For this, each improvement approach is simulated in six production line configurations and performance is measured in terms of Cycle Time (CT) and Fill Rate (FR). The results indicate that, in balanced systems, scattered improvements in all resources allowed better results than all three approaches recommended by TOC. In unbalanced environments, on the other hand, the focus on occupancy level exceeded all the other four approaches assessed. / Mestre

A two-stage multi-site aggreagate production and distribution planning model for a continuous cement manufacturing process.Proto, Luiz Otavio Zavalloni 04 September 2006 (has links)
Middle-term production planning (tactical level) is an important activity in manufacturing companies, once it deals with production resources (work-force and production capacity) and stocks dimensioning, impacting on the company supply capacity and on its operating results. This dissertation presents an Aggregate Production and Distribution Planning model to be applied in multi-site, multi-product cement companies with the purpose of maximize operational results. The developed model is based upon Mixed Integer Linear Programming (MILP), and it considers, besides production and transportation operational costs, taxes expenses, which in the Brazilian context can change considerably depending on the supply strategy adopted, due to taxation differences between inter and intra-state sales operations. The results confirmed the importance of the combined approach of the production and distribution, demonstrating the relevance of integrating these two planning processes in a multi-site two-stage production environment.
