For many years the writer's dedication to literature was secondary practice, relegated to the open hours, and their income, which guaranteed survival, usually came from professions not always tied to the intellectual and artistic spheres. With the close relationship between art and the market in recent years, this work proposes that the professionalization becomes viable for writers, making possible the abandonment of the liberal professions and their dedication to several practices close to both the market and literature. Based on this premise, the dissertation intends to expose and problematize some of the impasses inherent in the professionalization of literature writer based on the discussions in Santiago (1988), Lahire (2009), Montaldo (2014), and others of these impasses in two works of contemporary literature that dramatize the professionalization of the writer, Ninguém by Ieda Magri (2016) and O ano em que vivi de literatura by Paulo Scott (2015).
