Wojciechowska, Anna 09 December 2008 (has links) (PDF)

Broudoux, Evelyne 17 December 2003 (has links) (PDF)

A Web-based System for Publishing Publications to Both Växjö University Library and RICS

ul haq, Israr January 2009 (has links)
The Department of Computer Science of Växjö University has a web based system where thesis finished by the students as well as available thesis can be seen. Research work made by the faculty members of the Department is also available here. The Växjö University Library also has a web- based System called DiVA. DiVA stands for Digitala Vetenskapliga Arkivet (Academic Archive Online). It enables students and researchers to publish their research work to University Library. Students and Researchers can also search, research made by other researchers. Each year researcher/student publishes their result in conference papers, journal articles, thesis report, books etc. These publications should be register both at the Växjö University Library and RICS (Research in Computer Science) web site in a systematic way so to avoid any kind of redundancy and errors. To develop a system which follow the principle” publish once and view every where” is the objective of this project. The System makes it possible to extract the already published publication at DiVA and put that publication’s information into RICS web site. When a user requests for registering a publication, the system should verify whether he/she is eligible to register a publication. If he/she qualifies, that is if he/she is a registered user, then the system will register the publication along with the required information like title, author, date of publication, kind of publication etc. on different Web sites. The web-based publication information system was implemented in C#.NET. The project was successfully completed but the deliver system requires more live testing.

New journal for the promotion of Vietnamese environmental research / Tạp chí mới khuyến khích nghiên cứu môi trường ở Việt Nam

Stefan, Catalin 06 August 2012 (has links) (PDF)
The Vietnamese science and high education system plays a major role in the country’s social and economical development. Due to a mixed influence of international education systems, the contribution of the Vietnamese research to the international scientific landscape is still modest. Over the past decades, the most scientific programmes focused mostly on rather theoretical sciences and less on applied sciences. The results are reflected by a rather low rate of international publications on experimental science. Together with the country’s efforts on the efficient use of natural resources, there is an urgent demand for strengthening the scientific activity on environmental sciences. The new Journal of Vietnamese Environment was created to respond to the increasing interest in environmental research. The journal was founded as part of an academic network initiated by the Dresden University of Technology in the framework of Vietnamese-German cooperation programs on training and education. With multidisciplinary fields of interest and several types of manuscripts, the journal has a predominant academic character, the submission of manuscripts is open to students, graduates, researchers and staff members of research and academic institutions, as well as to any individual willing to disseminate the knowledge about the management of Vietnamese environment.

Writing for publication in four disciplines : Insights into text and context

McGrath, Lisa January 2015 (has links)
Scholars globally are under increasing pressure to publish in international, highly-ranked, and usually English-language journals. This has created a need for insights into the evolving discourses, genres, and publication practices of disciplinary discourse communities. This thesis reports an exploration of textual and contextual facets of writing for publication in the academy. More specifically, the overarching aim was to investigate the relationship between discipline, and the rhetorical features, genres, languages and dissemination outlets used by scholars. The thesis comprises four qualitative studies, and employs a variety of methods to explore this relationship across four disciplines: anthropology, history, linguistics and pure mathematics. The results reveal some connections between epistemological characteristics of the disciplines investigated and scholars’ rhetorical choices. The structure of the research article in pure mathematics is shown to reflect the process of knowledge construction in the discipline, and patterns of self-mentions in anthropology and history articles are attributed to disciplinary methodology. Furthermore, insights into the relationship between discipline, and genre use, language selection, and access to publication outlets are obtained. The results reveal disciplinary differences in terms of scholars’ opportunities to publish in the local language and in English. Based on my findings, I argue that while discipline is a significant factor in understanding how scholars construct and disseminate their research-based writing, these practices are also subject to local, international and digital developments. As such, the relationship between discipline, genre, language and publication should be understood as dynamic. /
At the time of the doctoral defense, the following papers were unpublished and had a status as follows: Paper 1: In press. The Legal Position of Correspondence from a Copyright Perspective : With Particular Focus on the Moment of Publication

Saltin, Anders January 2011 (has links)
Correspondence is written forms of communications, for example, SMS, E-mail, or letters, and when something is written, it may constitute a literary work protected by copyright. As there is no formal procedure for acquiring copyright, it is not always easy to determine when it exists and therefore know how to impose common rules. In Sweden, the moment of publication of a literary work is when an author makes his work available to the public. This occurs when a work is presented publicly, displayed publicly, or when copies are distributed to the public. This moment is imperative due to the legal effects that enter into force when a work is published. Until the point in time when a work is published, an author has absolute rights to his work, meaning that it is not possible to use a work legally without the author’s consent. As correspondence is a mean of communication, it is inherent in its nature to be transferred to someone else in order to fulfil its purpose. This means that an author has technically published his work the moment he sends it to someone else. However, arguments are raised in case law that a work cannot be published unless the author has intended it to be. This thesis concludes that both assessments of when a work is published are in fact correct. The important aspect that has to be considered when assessing if a work is published or not, is the intended usage of the protected work. Consequently, one may use the results of this thesis either as an argument to apply unbiased provisions of law, in accordance to their wording, or to apply subjective assessments on a case-to-case basis, in order to find an optimal solution.
