Real time defect detection in welds by ultrasonic means

A computer controlled weld quality assurance system has been developed to detect weld defects ultrasonically whilst welding is in progress. This system, including a flash analogue to digital converter and built-in memories to store sampled data, a peak characters extractor and a welding process controller, enabled welding processes to be controlled automatically and welding defects to be detected concurrently with welding. In this way, the weld quality could be satisfactorily assured if no defect was detected and the welding cost was minimised either through avoiding similar defects to occur or by stopping the welding process if repair was necessary. This work demonstrated that the high temperature field around the weld pool was the major source of difficulties and unreliabilities in defect detection during welding and, had to be taken into account in welding control by ultrasonic means. The high temperatures not only influence ultrasonic characteristic parameters which are the defect judgement and assessment criterion, but also introduce noise into signals. The signal averaging technique and statistical analysis based on B-scan data have proved their feasibility to increase 'signal to noise ratio' effectively and to judge or assess weld defects. The hardware and the software for the system is explained in this work. By using this system, real-time 'A-scan' signals on screen display, and, A-scan, B-scan or three dimensional results can be printed on paper, or stored on disks, and, as a result, weld quality could be fully computerized.

De l’intérêt de créer une certification propre en langues pour les IUT (CLIUT)

Der folgende Beitrag beschreibt die Situation der Fremdsprachenausbildung und -zertifizierung an den Instituts Universitaires de Technologie (IUT) in Frankreich. Die auf die Berufswirklichkeit ausgerichteten Ausbildungsziele und Kursinhalte unterscheiden sich von der externen Prüfung zur Zertifizierung. Die Prüfungsaufgaben einer Zertifizierungs-organisation für das Englische konzentrieren sich auf rezeptive Kenntnisse und Fertigkeiten, bieten aber den in den Fremdsprachenkursen ausgebildeten produktiven Fertigkeiten wenig Raum. Deshalb wird den IUT empfohlen, ein eigenes Zertifikat für die Sprachausbildung einzuführen, ein CLIUT (Certificat en langues pour les IUT). Das Zertifikat soll eine Fremdsprachenkompetenz bescheinigen, die auf die berufliche Verwendung der Fremdsprache ausgerichtet ist. Es wird jedoch vom Arbeitsmarkt nur dann anerkannt, wenn es mit einem transparenten Qualitätssicherungssystem verbunden wird und wenn es gelingt, die Niveaustufen nachprüfbar am Europäischen Referenzrahmen für Sprachen auszurichten. / La contribution ci-dessous essaie d’expliciter quelques pistes de réflexion présentées lors de la conférence plénière sur les certifications en langue du 34e congrès de l’APLIUT à Strasbourg. Il s’agira donc de s’attarder sur les considérations du Conseil d’administration de l’APLIUT (CA d’APLIUT : 2007). La 1ère partie présentera de manière succincte des exemples de mise en situation professionnelle des étudiants dans les cours de langues étrangères en IUT. L’application de cette méthode demande de développer des compétences plus complexes que celles développées dans un cours se limitant à des sujets du vécu quotidien. Il conviendra ensuite de se demander dans quelle mesure les effets souhaités de cette approche font l’objet des épreuves de certification recommandées par les Programmes Pédagogiques Nationaux (PPN) des DUT. En raison de l’incohérence entre les cours et les épreuves de certification, la question de la certification a l’air d’être sans issue. Du fait qu’à ce jour la recherche d’une certification validant l’enseignement dans les IUT n’a toujours pas abouti au résultat escompté, il faudrait peut-être envisager de créer une attestation propre destinée aux IUT. L’atteinte de cet objectif passe par l’aboutissement d’importants travaux préliminaires et également par la valorisation d’une certification grâce à un système d’assurance qualité, voir la 3e partie.

Savivaldybėje teikiamų socialinių paslaugų prieinamumas / Evaluation of social services provision in municipality

Socialinių paslaugų tikslas yra gerinti socialiai pažeidžiamų piliečių gyvenimo kokybę, tenkinti būtiniausius jo žmogiškuosius poreikius, padėti integruotis į visuomenę, mažinti socialinę atskirtį. Kad žmonės gaunantys šias paslaugas jaustų gyvenimo pagerėjimą reikia, kad tos paslaugos būtų suteiktos kokybiškai. Net ir mažos skiriamos paslaugos gali būti tik tada veiksmingos, jei jos taikliai pasiekė paslaugos gavėją, ypač ekonominės krizės metais. Nekokybiškai suteikta paslauga praranda savo vertę, neteikia naudos, vadinasi blogai arba visai nevykdo socialinės apsaugos politikos. Siekiant paslaugų kokybės darosi svarbūs santykiai tarp paslaugų teikėjo ir paslaugų gavėjo. Didžiausia dalimi paslaugų kokybę lemia tiesioginis paslaugos teikėjas- socialinis darbuotojas. Tai priklauso nuo jo kvalifikacijos, asmeninių savybių, požiūrio į klientą. Kokybės užtikrinimo sistemai kurti ir užtikrinti įtakos turi ir socialinių paslaugų įstaigų veikla, paslaugų prieinamumas ir kokybė, valstybės vykdomi ir rengiami įstatymai. Pagal socialinių paslaugų reformą,(2002m.) nuo 2004m. buvo pradėti rengti nacionaliniai socialinių paslaugų standartai, kurie padėtų paslaugų gavėjams ir jų šeimų nariams spręsti apie gaunamų paslaugų kokybiškumą, o socialinių paslaugų teikėjams būtų aiškiau, kokie reikalavimai keliami paslaugoms. Socialinių paslaugų įstaigų išskirtinumas yra tas, kad galutiniai rezultatai nėra grindžiami tik atliktu efektyvumu ir ekonomiškumu. Didele dalim tai priklauso ir nuo... Social services depend on economical situation of the state and legislation as well as qualification, competence of employee, who provides these services, and services’ quality assurance system. The main actor which determines quality of the services is direct services provider – social worker. It is quit hard to evaluate quality of services, because everyone different understands and evaluates quality of services. Person’s indication of evaluation depends on how provided service satisfies his need and expectations. Lithuanian legislation of social policy is orientated into high quality of social services; however evaluation of it is still problematic due to a lack of documentations, identifying quality evaluation strategy of social services provided by social workers. The master thesis, with reference to science literature, analyze social services provision system in Druskininkai Municipality (case analyze) as well as present point of view of social services’ organization, provider and recipient evaluating social services on social, territorial and economic backgrounds (experiment). Exploring tracing and tracking technologies to improve production efficiency and product quality.

The door manufacturing industry still heavily relies on manual technology for its production and quality assurance systems, which poses certain challenges. However, in recent years, the industry has witnessed a growing demand for personalized products, leading to a need for more adaptable production methods and shorter product life cycles. Unfortunately, this reliance on manual technologies has resulted in increased errors and inaccuracies. Moreover, manual technology requires significant time and effort investment, which reduces production efficiency and product quality. To address these issues, the purpose of this thesis is to address the issue of inefficiency at a door manufacturing company by examining its existing production systems and quality assurance system. The thesis aims to provide recommendations for improvement by exploring the integration of automated tracing and tracking technology. Furthermore, it would result in recommendations for feasible methods that may be used in Swedish production systems, as well as further study fields.
