Once the crime is discovered, the narrative is sustained by the mystery about the criminal's identity, which maintains the suspense throughout the story. My work aims to analyze how the detective novel genre has evolved to the present day, taking into account its appearance in the literary context, but taking the discussion to the television series. In particular, I analyze the HBO series True Detective (2014 - ) and try to understand how the series updates the strict rules of how to produce a detective story. Where is the psychological depth of the characters or their philosophical analysis? How can we classify a series like True Detective that makes the psychological development of the characters larger than the crime?
