Orientador: Arilda Inês Miranda Ribeiro / Banca: Edwiges Pereira Rosa Camargo / Banca: Gislene Aparecida Santos / Resumo: Este trabalho tem como objetivo o delineamento do perfil sócio-econômico e acadêmico do aluno negro da Universidade Estadual Paulista - Unesp - campus de Presidente Prudente. Iniciamos nossa investigação a partir da busca de um entendimento do contexto étnico mundial e eurocentral, seguido da "elaboração" de um resgate do histórico da exclusão educacional do negro no Brasil. O embasamento teórico alicerçado nos estudos de Capital Econômico e Capital Cultural de Pierre Bourdieu, nos auxiliou, na compreensão da dinâmica do ciclo de exclusão social. O viés metodológico contemplado foi o levantamento histórico da exclusão do negro no espaço escolar, através de pesquisa bibliográfica, aliada à realização de pesquisa do tipo exploratória, com estudos de natureza qualitativa e quantitativa. A não "representação" dos afro-brasileiros nos compêndios que localizamos, que versam sobre a história de Presidente Prudente, é um indicativo de que a exclusão do negro no município não se limita as salas de aula, mas ocorre também nos outros espaços sociais. Este estudo comprovou nossa hipótese inicial, de que a presença dos alunos afro-brasileiros na Universidade é ainda incipiente. / Abstract: The theme of Negro students and Higher Education is the goal of this work, through the outline of the academic, social and economic profile of the negro student in the São Paulo State University - UNESP - Presidente Prudente Campus. We started our investigation searching for an understanding of the global ethnical eurocentrist context, then working out the recovery of the historical educational exclusion of the negros in Brazil. The theoretical foundation based on the Economic Capital and Cultural Capital studies of Pierre Bourdieu helped us to comprehend the dynamics of social exclusion cycle. The methodological slant contemplated was the historical research of the negro exclusion in the school environment, through the bibliographical research, allied to the exploratory research, with studies of qualitative and quantitative nature. The absence of african-brazilians in the compendiums that study the history of the city of Presidente Prudente indicatives that the negro exclusion in the city is not limited to the classrooms but also happens in other social environments. This work proved our initial hipothesis that the presence of african-brazilian students at the university is still at its inception. / Mestre
