Prof. Hélio Palermo, localizada na cidade de Franca-SP. A metodologia utilizada tem como referência a abordagem qualitativa de pesquisa em educação; utilizando como fonte de informações o projeto político pedagógico da escola pesquisada, o currículo das disciplinas de História, Filosofia, Sociologia, Geografia, Arte e Língua Portuguesa. Ademais, foram realizadas entrevistas semiestruturadas com a equipe gestora e professores do lócus investigado. Os referenciais teóricos utilizados têm como base estudos culturais, que avançam na reescrita da história afro-brasileira de valorização da cultura africana; e de pesquisadores das Ciências Políticas com ênfase em políticas públicas educacionais. Não obstante, procura apresentar uma proposta de intervenção que auxilie professores e gestores desta Diretoria de Ensino a trabalharem em conformidade com a obrigatoriedade da Lei Nº 10.639/2003. / This research has as its objective to analyze how the study of “History, African and Afro-Brazilian culture”and its rooting level are inserted into the State of São Paulo school’s curriculum in the light of the Law number 10.639/2003, more precisely atHelio Palermo State public school, in the city of Franca, SP. The methodology in this work is based on the educational qualitative research, and has as its source of information the pedagogical-political project from the named school, concerning the curriculum from subjects such as History, Philosophy, Sociology, Geography, Arts and Portuguese. Furthermore, semi structured interviews were conducted with the management team and with the teachers from Helio Palermo School. The theoretical background in this study is based on cultural studies which advanced into the rewriting of Afro-Brazilian History and the enhancement of the African culture, as well as in studies from public sciences researchers who developed studies into the educational public policies. Finally, this dissertation looks forward to present a proposition of intervention which could urge teachers and managers from the schools of the city of Franca, SP, to work in accordance to the requirements of the Law number 10.639/2003.
