Their contestant attitude are known for about two decades and during this journey are icluded embate the media, against the repression forces of the State with the political class and also with the State itself. Their cronics were part of the ethic questions, by the capital and work relation and by the world family relationship as well. During their career, they headed their rap songs as a machine gun of social criticizing using annalize or cronics about reality experienced from their poor lives from the suburbs of São Paulo. In spite of their concequences and acts, they reached the top of the opinions division that they couldn´t neutralize their respect. On one more chapter of this great interaction of music and history, they present a work of a group that renewed the protest songs and represented a new act by making songs with no indirect or side to side criticizings. The great big deal of Racionais songs went over edges of São Paulo and named themselves as the parameter to annalize several other poor areas in Brazil, after all suburbs are suburbs / Intitulada como: Os Racionais Mc s: música, mídia e crítica social em São Paulo a pesquisa objetiva apresentar e analisar a produção e a constituição do maior grupo de rap do país que desde seus primórdios no final da década de 80 ganhou projeção pelas críticas sociais e por se confrontar com os mais diversos setores da sociedade. As atitudes contestadoras dos rappers se estendem a quase duas décadas e, neste percurso, incluíram embates com a mídia em geral, com as forças de repressão do Estado, com a classe política e o próprio Estado. As crônicas dos Racionais Mc s também enveredaram pelas questões étnicas, pela relação capital e trabalho e pelo mundo das relações familiares. No decorrer da carreira o quarteto paulistano encaminhou sempre seu rap por uma trilha que continha uma metralhadora giratória de críticas sociais disparada em análises ou crônicas da realidade vivida nas periferias pobres de São Paulo. Por conseqüência de suas atitudes e atos, o grupo alcançou tal patamar na divisão de opiniões, que impossibilitou a neutralidade a seu respeito. Em mais capítulo da ampla relação entre música e história, apresenta-se a obra de um grupo que revitalizou as músicas de protesto e representou uma novidade por construir músicas onde não existem críticas veladas ou indiretas. A amplitude do rap dos Racionais ultrapassou as fronteiras paulistanas e os gabaritou como parâmetro para analisar diversas outras áreas pobres do Brasil afinal Periferia é periferia
