Vliv podstatných parametrů na velikost radiální vůle a deformačně napěťové stavy v kuličkovém ložisku / Influence of essential parameters on the radial clearance and stress-strain states in ball bearingsŠperka, Václav January 2014 (has links)
Master thesis is focused on the research of influence of selected substantial parameters on stress – strain states in the deep groove radial ball bearing. The influence of radial load is analyzed, such as the influence of size of the bearing and row of the bearing, also influence of radial clearance is quantified. Next, the influence of thermal distribution in the bearing is analyzed for different combinations of thermal distributions and radial clearances. Conclusions from analyses are then used in the last task – suggestion of radial clearance for customer – specified assembly. Problem is solved using the finite element method (FEM) in pre/post processor MSC.Patran and solver MSC.Marc. To make analyses faster the substantial parameters are implemented in the algorithm for automatic generation of the bearing calculation (batch file). The theme of this thesis was commissioned by ZKL - Research and development, a. s.

Black-box optimization of simulated light extraction efficiency from quantum dots in pyramidal gallium nitride structuresOlofsson, Karl-Johan January 2019 (has links)
Microsized hexagonal gallium nitride pyramids show promise as next generation Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) due to certain quantum properties within the pyramids. One metric for evaluating the efficiency of a LED device is by studying its Light Extraction Efficiency (LEE). To calculate the LEE for different pyramid designs, simulations can be performed using the FDTD method. Maximizing the LEE is treated as a black-box optimization problem with an interpolation method that utilizes radial basis functions. A simple heuristic is implemented and tested for various pyramid parameters. The LEE is shown to be highly dependent on the pyramid size, the source position and the polarization. Under certain circumstances, a LEE over 17% is found above the pyramid. The results are however in some situations very sensitive to the simulation parameters, leading to results not converging properly. Establishing convergence for all simulation evaluations must be done with further care. The results imply a high LEE for the pyramids is possible, which motivates the need for further research.

Metody evoluční optimalizace založené na modelech / Model-based evolutionary optimization methodsBajer, Lukáš January 2018 (has links)
Model-based black-box optimization is a topic that has been intensively studied both in academia and industry. Especially real-world optimization tasks are often characterized by expensive or time-demanding objective functions for which statistical models can save resources or speed-up the optimization. Each of three parts of the thesis concerns one such model: first, copulas are used instead of a graphical model in estimation of distribution algorithms, second, RBF networks serve as surrogate models in mixed-variable genetic algorithms, and third, Gaussian processes are employed in Bayesian optimization algorithms as a sampling model and in the Covariance matrix adaptation Evolutionary strategy (CMA-ES) as a surrogate model. The last combination, described in the core part of the thesis, resulted in the Doubly trained surrogate CMA-ES (DTS-CMA-ES). This algorithm uses the uncertainty prediction of a Gaussian process for selecting only a part of the CMA-ES population for evaluation with the expensive objective function while the mean prediction is used for the rest. The DTS-CMA-ES improves upon the state-of-the-art surrogate continuous optimizers in several benchmark tests.

Presentation and evaluation of gated-SPECT myocardial perfusion images : Radial Slices - data reduction without loss of informationDarvish, Darvish, Öçba, F.Nadideh January 2013 (has links)
Single photon emission tomography (SPECT) data from myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) are normally displayed as a set of three slices orthogonal to the left ventricular (LV) long axis for both ECG-gated (GSPECT) and non-gated SPECT studies. The total number of slices presented for assessment depends on the size of the heart, but is typically in excess of 30. A requirement for data presentation is that images should be orientated about the LV axis; therefore, a set of radial slice would fulfill this need. Radial slices are parallel to the LV long axis and arranged diametrically. They could provide a suitable alternative to standard orthogonal slices, with the advantage of requiring far fewer slices to adequately represent the data. In this study a semi-automatic method was developed for displaying MPI SPECT data as a set of radial slices orientated about the LV axis, with the aim of reducing the number of slices viewed, without loss of information and independent on the size of the heart. Input volume data consisted of standard short axis slices orientated perpendicular to the LV axis chosen at the time of reconstruction. The true LV axis was determined by first determining the boundary on a central long axis slice, the axis being in the direction of the y-axis in the matrix. The skeleton of the myocardium were found and the true LV axis determined for that slice. The angle of this axis with respect to the y-axis was calculated. The process was repeated for an orthogonal long axis slice. The input volume was then rotated by the angles calculated. Radial slices generated for presentation were integrated over a sector equivalent to the imaging resolution (1.2 cm); assuming the diameter of the heart is about 8cm then non-gated data could be represented by 20 radial slices integrated over an 18 degree section. Gated information could be represented with four slices spaced at 45 intervals, integrated over a 30 degree sector.

CFD INVESTIGATION OF IMPELLER DIFFUSER INTERACTION EFFECTS ON RADIAL COMPRESSOR STAGEKumlu, Armagan January 2014 (has links)
The effects of impeller-diffuser interaction are investigated through numerically simulating the modified wedge vane profiles. Steady and time-accurate, 3D- viscous RANSsolver is used to perform flow field computations. The original design is modified to obtain better aerodynamic performance. Five morechanges are made to the leading edge profile of the new design, in order to assess different degrees of unsteadiness. These changes show that their contribution on stageefficiency is rather minor, while they have a huge reduction on blade loadings. Moreover, it is shown that the shorter radial distance of vaneless space does not necessarilymean an increased loading thanks to the eliminating in-phase fluctuations on pressureand suction sides. It is found that the impeller reacts to the upstream static pressure disturbance, whichis caused by the applied geometry change and its resultant flow field in the wedge diffuser, but not to the radial location of a certain profile. In addition, the results indicatethat the wedge diffuser aerodynamic performance is driven by time-averaged flow fieldbehaviour.
