It was looked to demonstrate that, while the ethnic representations, religious, of social classes and of the urban violence of the songs found references in the daily one of the young rap's producers, the representation of sort was based mainly in the social opinions preconceived that, nor always, could have been observed in the daily one characterized for the songs. If the masculines integrant of the movement had developed denouncers rhyme and critical in relation to the etnia questions and classes, soon the feminine integrant will go to question, by means of its rhymes, the diseases who affected the lives of millions of poor women and its families. The representations of sort in rap from the feminine insertion in this universe had contributed to perceive as the conceptions of private spaces were crystallized, positions previously detennined for men and women in the singing and in the making of rappers / O objetivo dessa pesquisa é analisar as representações de gênero nas letras de RAP dos Racionais MC' s, no intuito de compreender como se deu a construção social da masculinidade e da feminilidade nessa expressão musical produzida e consumida por parcela dos(as) jovens de periferia - Cidade de São Paulo - durante a década de 1990. Procura-se demonstrar que, enquanto as representações de etnia, religião, classes sociais e violência urbana encontravam referências no cotidiano dos jovens produtores do RAP, a representação de gênero se fundamentava principalmente em estereótipos sociais que nem sempre puderam ser observados no dia-a-dia caracterizado pelas canções. Se os integrantes masculinos do movimento desenvolveram rimas denunciadoras e criticas em relação às questões de etnia e classes, logo as integrantes questionaram, também por meio de suas rimas, as mazelas que afetaram as vidas de milhões de mulheres pobres e de suas famílias. As representações de gênero no RAP, a partir da inserção feminina nesse universo, contribuíram para perceber como estavam cristalizadas as concepções de espaços reservados e posições pré-determinas para homens e mulheres no cantar e no fazer doseas) rappers
