An Research on Time Allocation for the On-the-job Master Programme Studetns in the National Sun Yat-sen UniversityTsai, Janice 27 June 2004 (has links)
In Taiwan, people accepting a higher education are increasing day by day, most of the persons who take an advanced study with the graduate schools. In recent years, the implementation of the recurrent education policy, offer to individuals return to school with the chance to receive a higher education. But as to on-the-job master programme students, it makes students' social role tend towards pluralism and complicated. To participate in receiving an education, they must give consideration to the roles, such as family , working and learner ,etc¡K. Effective time allocation to them becomes relatively important.
The purpose of this research lies in understanding that on-the-job master programme students daily activities and time allocation include the sleep, housework, work , child care, sports, prepare lessons, school commute, attend classes ,etc. And understands the conflict state of gain and loss analysis after them start to study in the curriculum of graduate school, and probe into a difference situation change produced by different individuals to analyse the influence main factors of the time allocation and the conflicts.
Probe into the basis of obtaining the theory via documents first in this research, and then adopt questionnaire investigation method , have with National Sun Yat-sen University (NSYSU) on-the-job master programme class , master class and class of master credit students as the target, total and elect 327 students and carry on the survey as studying samples, get 302 effective questionnaires. The data we use the statistics methodology to carry on quantitative analysis, and discover that, sketches it as follows:
First, the on-the-job student's sample of the master of NSYSU takes the majority with management college , master's class , male , married , with more than one children , full-time-job workers under the age of 40.
Secondly, to sum up that on-the-job students¡¦ time allocation , sleep time is 6.50 hours on average every day, housework spend 1.10 hours, spend 8.71 hours at work, child-bearing is 1.19 hours, sport time spend 0.38 hour, prepare lessons time is 1.62 hours; spend 9.45 hours in classes, and spend 3.93 hours for communication to school per week .
The third, studying in the gain and loss after attending the graduate school, the on-the-job students showing differences about losses in various fields. They think the most loss is the recreation time; secondly is the loss time of family life , the third are personal health and working time , the least loss is the incomes.
The fourth, ¡§time allocation¡¨, ¡§gain and loss¡¨ and ¡§time conflict¡¨ will be different to some extent when changing factors in different backgrounds.

This research aims at understanding the effects that Ministry of Education implements the Recurrent Education of in-service master programs in every university. Investigate the adult learners from in-service master programs, specially in the learners¡¦ learning motivations, participation barriers and learning satisfactions in order to the reference which carries out the effort as inspecting.
The process of this research¡G Firstly, investigate the learning motivations, participation barriers and learning satisfactions of in-service master program students. Secondly, understand the relationships between (1)the demographics and learning motivations¡Bparticipation barriers and learning satisfactions ,and (2) learning motivations¡B participation barriers and learning satisfactions. Finally, suggest some advises forward on the policy for Recurrent Education of in-service master programs.
For supporting the above-mentioned purposes, I used questionnaire investigation method to collect the material data. The currently register students are 1278, particularly in 92nd school year, and the effective samples are 337.Describing statistics, exploratory factor analysis, secondary confirmatory factor analysis and path analysis were used to analyze and explain the raw data.
Research tells:
¡]1¡^The learning motivations¡Bparticipation barriers and learning satisfactions are related to certain items of demographics.
¡]2¡^The higher learning motivation which in-service master program students have, the more learning satisfaction they get. The participation barrier is higher and the lower learning satisfaction is. The participation barrier can influence the learning satisfaction through the learning motivation, that means the learning motivation is a intervening variable.
The research suggests:
¡]1¡^ Set up the scholarship of in-service master programs to keep the fair position of the students.
¡]2¡^ Legislate the paid educational leave.
¡]3¡^ Strengthen the promotion of educational programs for the expansion of adult learners¡¦ participation.
¡]4¡^ Redistribute educational resources .
¡]5¡^ Have the flexible years of studying and set up the transfer systems.

非營利組織之策略形態分析與診斷-以某大學推廣教育機構為例 / Strategic Analysis and Diagnosis of Non-Profit Organizations-A Case Study of Extension Education Center in University李承翰, Lee, Cheng Han Unknown Date (has links)
The Ministry of Education helped universities and colleges to setup extension education centers from 1997. The Ministry of Education urged the universities to design programs for professionals by use of their own resource. Universities build up a lot of classes with credits and degrees in recent years. The competition between universities makes them focusing on the strategies confronting different aspects such as globalization, digitization and low birth rate.
This research focuses on strategy analysis and refers to nonprofit organization theory proposed by Seetoo(1999)-CORPS (Client, Operation, Resource, Participate and Service) and recurrent education indicators suggested by Wu(2006). Based on survey and interview with students and employees at a certain extension education center, this study has findings as follows:
1. The reason for professionals returning to extension education center is because the university reputation and well-known professors. The tuition and facilities affect their willingness to learn and the effect of learning.
2. The organization should provide innovation and high quality courses not just investing on digital technology.
3. The integration of university’s resource will increase the benefits of extension education. It will provide better services with process improvement and cooperation between different academic departments.

A study of the role of community colleges in the provision of vocational-technical education with specific reference to the Eastern Free StateLetsie, Lekhooe Elias 18 March 2004 (has links)
This study was conducted with the purpose of evaluating American community colleges in order to consider their role in the provision of vocational-technical education with specific reference to the Eastern Free State. In order to achieve this, three research methodologies were engaged in. They comprised a documentary study relating to the nature and functioning of American community colleges and to the provision of vocational-technical education in South Africa, an on-site visit to an American community college for the purpose of conducting an in-depth study thereof as well as an empirical investigation undertaken in the Eastern Free State with the purpose of determining the need for the establishment of community colleges in the region. The documentary study of the American community college as well as the on-site visit to a typical American community college have revealed that these educational institutions have been particularly useful to individuals whose educational opportunities have been limited by a variety of circumstances by being plentiful, nearby, inexpensive, offering a variety of programmes and by adhering to an open-door admissions policy that imposes few entry requirements. It has also been revealed that American community colleges have a positive impact on those associated with them, namely, students, commerce and industry, universities and society in general. The documentary study relating to the provision of vocational-technical education in South Africa has revealed that in the past the provision of education in the country has been skewed in favour of the White population, which happened to be in the minority. As a result, the majority of citizens of the country either received little or no education at all. This has resulted in high levels of illiteracy, unemployment and poverty. It has also been found that corrective measures against this state of affairs are currently being undertaken. The empirical investigation undertaken in the Eastern Free State has found that the residents of the Eastern Free State are in favour of the establishment of community colleges in their region. The type of community college that is desired is one that will lead to the upliftment of the educational levels of its students and equip them with marketable skills. Based on the findings of this study, recommendations are made relating to the establishment of community colleges in the Eastern Free State. It has been found that there is no need for the establishment of community colleges alongside the already existing FET colleges in the Eastern Free State. Instead it is recommended that some of the features of American community colleges that have contributed to their success be adopted, adapted where necessary and be integrated into the FET college operating in the Eastern Free State. / Thesis (DPhil)--University of Pretoria, 2005. / Humanities Education / DPhil / Unrestricted
