The system design is based into a powerful microprocessor Atmel's ATMega644PA and all the programming is written in the programming language, Assembly. The system provides 8 digital outputs (ON / OFF) and 8 digital inputs (0-12 Volts). The microcontroller has also a module system for mobile telephony through which, predefined messages are received and sent, related to the handling/ operation and control of its outputs and inputs. The system is interconnected with a mini "embedded PC" with specially designed operating system based on Linux (distribution Debian). A website was developed into this subsystem in the programming language for websites, PHP. The accredited visitor of this website is able to handle and control the inputs and the outputs of the system.

A Simulator for Solar Array MonitoringJanuary 2016 (has links)
abstract: Utility scale solar energy is generated by photovoltaic (PV) cell arrays, which are often deployed in remote areas. A PV array monitoring system is considered where smart sensors are attached to the PV modules and transmit data to a monitoring station through wireless links. These smart monitoring devices may be used for fault detection and management of connection topologies. In this thesis, a compact hardware simulator of the smart PV array monitoring system is described. The voltage, current, irradiance, and temperature of each PV module are monitored and the status of each panel along with all data is transmitted to a mobile device. LabVIEW and Arduino board programs have been developed to display and visualize the monitoring data from all sensors. All data is saved on servers and mobile devices and desktops can easily access analytics from anywhere. Various PV array conditions including shading, faults, and loading are simulated and demonstrated.
Additionally, Electrical mismatch between modules in a PV array due to partial shading causes energy losses beyond the shaded module, as unshaded modules are forced to operate away from their maximum power point in order to compensate for the shading. An irradiance estimation algorithm is presented for use in a mismatch mitigation system. Irradiance is estimated using measurements of module voltage, current, and back surface temperature. These estimates may be used to optimize an array’s electrical configuration and reduce the mismatch losses caused by partial shading. Propagation of error in the estimation is examined; it is found that accuracy is sufficient for use in the proposed mismatch mitigation application. / Dissertation/Thesis / Masters Thesis Electrical Engineering 2016

DS Universal RemoteTorres Gil, Miguel Ángel January 2007 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis is to develop a remote control application for personal computers. This application will have two devices implied, the computer to be controlled and a small portable device that will be used as remote controller. In this specific case, the portable device picked is the Nintendo DS, for reasons discussed later in this document that make this device interesting as a remote controller. The application should allow the final user to create his own set of remote controllers for any computer application he wants to control, and also, to define the commands the application should perform. This makes the developed solution a full customizable universal remote controlling application. The first step taken was to do a small research about what kind of devices and software are present actually for remote control applications, so the differences, advantages and disadvantages of using the Nintendo DS will be shown. Then the developed solution will be explained and tested, controlling some computer applications under different scenarios.

User interface design guidelines for digital television virtual remote controlsWentzel, Alicia Veronica January 2016 (has links)
The remote control is a pivotal component in households worldwide. It helps users enjoy leisurely television (TV) viewing. The remote control has various user interfaces that people interact with. For example, the physical user interface includes the shape of the remote and the physical buttons; the logical user interface refers to how the information is laid out; and the graphical user interface refers to the colours and aesthetic features of the remote control. All of the user interfaces together with the context of use, cultural factors, social factors, and prior experiences of the user influences the ways people interact with their remote control and ultimately has an effect on their user experiences. Advances in the broadcasting sector and transformations of the TV physical remote control have compounded the simple remote control into a multifaceted, indispensable device, overcrowded with buttons. The usability and ultimately the user experience of physical remote controls (PRCs) have been affected by the overloaded functionality and small button sizes. The usability issues with current PRCs, the evolution of mobile phones into touchscreen smartphones, and the trend of global companies moving towards virtual remote controls (VRCs) have prompted this research to discover what user interface design features will contribute towards an enhanced user experience for digital TV VRCs. This research used the design science research process model (DSRP), which comprised six steps, to investigate this topic area further. A review of the domain literature pertaining to mobile user experiences (MUX) and all the encompassing factors, mobile human computer interaction (MHCI) and the physical, logical, graphical and natural user interfaces was completed, as well as a review of the literature regarding the usability issues of PRCs and VRCs. A contextual task analysis (CTA) of a single South African digital TV PRC was used to identify how users utilise PRCs to perform tasks, and the usability issues they encountered during the tasks. Brainstorming focus groups were used to understand how to represent certain user interface elements and attempted to source ideas from users about what potential functionality digital TV VRCs should contain. Together with all the other results gathered from the previous chapters amalgamated into a set of user interface design guidelines for digital TV VRCs. The proposed user interface guidelines were used to instantiate a digital TV VRC prototype that underwent usability testing in order to validate the proposed user interface design guidelines. The results of the usability testing revealed that the user interface design guidelines for digital TV VRCs were successful, with the addition of one guideline that was discovered during the usability testing.

Řízení algoritmů číslicového zpracování signálů v reálném čase pomocí HTML prohlížeče / Control of Real-Time Digital Audio Signal Processing Algorithms using HTML BrowserSlováček, Martin January 2009 (has links)
VST (Virtual Studio Technology) is one of the most used for real-time audio processing. VST effects are inserted to host applications in the form of plug-ins. This thesis discusses a design of a VST host remote control using a Java applet displayed in a web browser. A graphical user interface of the applet consists of graphical controllers created in this thesis. The number of controlled parameters is passed on to the applet by server using an XML configuration file. Three types of controllers are available: a slider, a knob and a button. If a parameter value change occurs, the applet sends a message with the parameter values to the server. Subsequently, the server reacts to this change by setting the parameters of the loaded VST module. The proposed design was completely realized and practically tested.

Systém správy konfigurací páteřní sítě Cisco / Configuration management for Cisco backbone networkBartoš, Jan January 2010 (has links)
The main aim of the master thesis was to create an application for backbone network configuration management. The priority of the application was to be effective and easy to take. Program has to be able to communicate with network devices by remote control and to download and upload configuration files. The program has enable also availability verification for remote control. For this purpose the ICMP protocol was used. The remote control is provided by telnet protocol and the protocol TFTP has been chosen for file tranfers providing. The application is a multithreading application based on the Java programming language. The Java graphic library Swing was used for GUI creation. The application supports file versioning, the configuration of the program can be saved as a text file, which can be easy changed by user. The program and its features are described in the second part of this thesis. The first part deals with theoretical facts about the IP networks and remote control of the Cisco backbone network devices.
