The application of research resources in Peruvian sport journalism in the case of newspaper Líbero

Olaya Ravenna, Luis Enrique 01 December 2019 (has links)
In recent years, sports journalism has been gaining prominence and space within the Peruvian media; However, many times the work carried out by sports newspapers has left feelings that a rigorous research work is not really carried out. Following this, it was decided to address the case of one of the most representative national sports newspapers in the current market, the newspaper Líbero. This work seeks to identify if research resources are applied and how they are used in Peruvian daily sports journalism. For this, a qualitative methodology was used and a daily follow-up was carried out for 7 days. Likewise, an instrument was designed based on 3 categories of analysis that allowed us to identify what resources were used and in what way. An interview with the director of the media was also carried out to know its version and to be able to contrast the observations with what the newspaper manager mentions. Once the investigation was completed, it was concluded that Peruvian sports newspapers do present the use of research resources; however, its application is not rigorous or systematic. Likewise, the necessary deepening is not reached and many resources have a partial application. Immediacy is the priority within the work of the sports journalist and its texts reflect this.

Olaya Ravenna, Luis Enrique 04 November 2021 (has links)
In recent years, sports journalism has been gaining prominence in the Peruvian press. However, it can often be seen that the journalistic texts written for sports media do not necessarily reflect that an in-depth investigation has been carried out behind that to ensure the veracity of the information provided. Given this situation, it was decided to analyze the case of one of the newspapers most important national sports, and market leader in its field: the newspaper Líbero. This work seeks to identify if investigative resources are applied and in what way they are used in Peruvian journalism, taking as an example one of the most important sports media in the country. In addition, it was decided to address the case of the doping of Paolo Guerrero, the same one that was chosen for its wide coverage, which allowed us to have a greater body of analysis. A qualitative methodology was used and the coverage made by the Líbero newspaper was followed up during the 8 months that the aforementioned case was developed. Likewise, an instrument was designed based on three categories of analysis, which allowed us to identify which resources characteristic of investigative journalism were used and in what way. 10 notes from the printed newspaper and 9 notes from the web were chosen to be analyzed. Finally, it was concluded that Diario Líbero does not really do investigative journalism. Although the resources are present in some of his notes, the vast majority of his texts are based on information from third parties and do not comply with the rigor that investigative journalism requires. / Tesis

A model to facilitate research uptake in health care practice and policy development

Sigudla, Jerry 05 1900 (has links)
Despite the availability of numerous models for knowledge translation into practice and policy, research uptake remains low in resource-limited countries. This study was aimed at developing a model to facilitate research uptake in healthcare practice and policy development. The study used a two-phase exploratory sequential approach (QUAL→QUAN). Qualitative data were collected through semi-structured interviews with a total of 21 participants, categorised as researchers (6), frontline workers/practitioners (7), programme/policy managers (4), and directors/senior managers (4) from government, private sector and academic institutions of higher learning (universities and colleges). Quantitative data were collected through an online cross-sectional survey, administered to 212 respondents who conducted research studies in the Mpumalanga Province between 2014 to 2019. The most significant findings seem to be lack of awareness of research findings and champions to lead engagements among research stakeholders on research uptake. In addition, the research has established a failure by researchers to align public health research projects to existing local contexts and available resources. Conversely, there is a growing propensity of using informal research without consideration of data quality issues. It was further observed that establishing and sustaining beneficial collaboration between all research stakeholders is required to promote effective research uptake for practice and policy development. The survey results established a total of 13 components: four individual factors (support, experience, motivation & time factor); four organisational factors (research agenda, funding, resources & partnerships), and five research characteristics factors (gatekeeping, local research committees, accessibility of evidence, quality of evidence & critical appraisal skills). However, the Spearman’s correlation coefficient revealed that of the 13 factors, only six factors had a significant positive correlation with research uptake, namely: support, experience, motivation, time factor, resources, and critical appraisal skills. Consequently, a model for institutionalising research uptake is proposed. The roles of local research committees have been clarified, and a logical framework has been incorporated with pathways and channels of engagements to enable successful implementation of the research uptake model. / Health Studies / Ph.
