Risk Management Support System / Risk Management Support System

Kubíček, Jan January 2010 (has links)
The work provides theoretical base of project management. It describes the current approach to project management as a combination of multiple processes. The process of risk management is described with special care. It also discuss some of the different approaches to risk management. \\ The work suggests new way of handling risk management, that combines risk management and data mining. Data mining approach is also used to mine quantitative risk values. This approach was successfully implemented and tested. Tests showed that this approach is very useful for omitted risk identification. Unfortunately it is also not recommendable for mining quantitative risk values.

Experimenteller Ansatz zu Effekten subjektiven Erlebens in VR-basierter Risikobeurteilung

Puschmann, Patrick, Horlitz, Tina, Wittstock, Volker, Schütz, Astrid January 2016 (has links)

Finanční dopady rizik ve stavebnictví a jejich řízení / Risk in Costruction Industry: The Management and Financial Impact

Štěpánková, Vladěna January 2017 (has links)
The present dissertation studies financial impacts of risks in the construction industry, providing one of possible ways of the risks expression and monitoring, through which they can be efficiently managed. Theoretical assumptions and selected methodology provided basis for an overall analysis of the Czech Republic construction market, identifying possible external risks sources including their processing and description. The present dissertation aims at finding major risks and assessing their financial impacts that pose threats to companies active in the construction sector, indeed a specific sector for doing business. These risks have been compiled in a Risk Catalogue intended as a guide for selected risks management. To elaborate on the risks identified, two specific companies have were selected, having provided their data (financial reports, accounts statements, number of projects contracted including their volume and type, personnel information, etc.), as well as key indicators they have been using. The dissertation outcome presents construction sector analysis and Risk Register compilation. The work clearly defines the procedure of the Register compilation, possibly to be used by construction companies with respect to recurrent activities and the risks involved. The Catalogue sorts risks in categories and defines their possible occurrence as well as their financial impact on the company. Furthermore, it presents their possible management, i.e. how they can be minimized or even eliminated, as well as necessary costs involved. Indeed, the costs have to be considered in the sense of financial impacts so that it does not result in covering risks with rather low financial impact.

Undersökning av riskarbete i en beslutsprocess för säljkontrakt / Investigation of risk management in a decision making process for sales contracts

Brorsson, Gabriel, Nomark, Henrik January 2023 (has links)
Risks are something that occur daily for all individuals and can arise from a variety of activities. If we don't take these risks into account, we will likely eventually be affected by them. By identifying and analyzing risks, the most appropriate decision can be made to mitigate or avoid the risk completely. The purpose of this study is to investigate which factors should be included in a risk analysis, and how a risk analysis can be designed for contract prioritization.  The work is carried out using an abductive scientific approach as the basis of the study. Data collection is done qualitatively through interviews. In order to achieve good scientific quality with high validity and reliability, the work was done in a systematic way with good planning.  The authors conclude that the company has a correct way of defining risks but lacks a clearly structured way of identifying new potential risks, which theory shows is important for a successful risk analysis. The result describes the financial risks as the cost critical and credit risk as the most important factor. The result describes that the company doesn't have a specific model, and the authors recommend FDFMEA as a model for risk analysis in contract prioritization, which is a developed and customized version of the traditional FMEA. The case company has a well functioning approach to how risks are handled, for example using insurance to avoid specific risks. With regards to data driven decisions, theory underlines the importance of the model presenting data in a simple and transparent way. This is something that the case company currently lacks but plans to improve.

A Comprehensive Content and Risk Analysis of Maritime Shipping Operations in Arctic Canada

Rettinger, Connor 19 January 2024 (has links)
Arctic Canada has seen significant ecological changes since the 1990s, leading to sea ice melt, increased temperatures, and increased accessibility to the Northwest Passage. The increased accessibility to the Northwest Passage has allowed for vessels to easily access maritime routes that were not previously accessible. Changes to the Arctic landscape has led to the beginning of open water shipping seasons in Arctic waters, attracting international audiences for trade, tourism, fisheries, and other economic activity. This new passageway increases options for companies to reduce costs in shipping, while also facilitating new and emerging hazards and risks for operational vessels. Comprehensive risk analysis and full assessments need to be completed to aid policy- and decision-makers to support and manage the increasing maritime traffic in Canadian Arctic waters. To fill this knowledge gap, the overarching aim of this master’s level research was to identify and preliminarily evaluate a comprehensive list of hazards (impact drivers) and risks (future impacts) for Maritime ship operations within Arctic Canada and to complete a preliminary assessment of identified maritime shipping hazards and risks throughout Arctic Canada. Hazards and risks were identified using several text-based sources, including social media, grey literature, and peer reviewed journal articles, in order to conduct a comprehensive content analysis to identify the perspectives and trends emerging among the online community. Natural language processing methods were then used, such as word frequencies, word correlation, and topic modelling to identify key phrases, terminology, and thematic groups. This allowed for the creation of an inventory of relevant hazard and risk themes and categories that could be used as a strong basis for informing a risk analysis. Emerging themes included: sea ice, navigability issues, geopolitical concerns, and operational challenges, among others. Following the identification of hazard and risk factors, a ‘failure modes, effects, and criticality analysis’ (FMECA) approach was used, along with a consequence-probability Rettinger ix matrix, as means of performing a preliminary risk analysis. The method enables the collection of information regarding hazard and risk descriptors, consequence, probability, control mechanisms, impacts, and data quality information, to establish a validated risk rating score. Risk rating scores are calculated using consequences and probability scores to determine average risk ratings for individual hazards and risks and at the sector-based category level. A total of 154 variables were inventoried: 55 hazards were identified and 99 risks were noted that influence maritime ship operations in Arctic Canada. Five variables were classified as ‘VERY HIGH’: three hazards (hydrocarbon releases, transportation of dangerous goods, and multiyear sea ice) and two risks (community member displacement and socioeconomic impacts on indigenous peoples). Five thematic groups were seen as priority risk ratings, two of which identified with “HIGH” data quality indexes (Sea Ice, Environmental). A total of 35 hazards and 36 risks are recommended for further investigation, being classified with a ‘VERY HIGH’ or ‘HIGH’ data quality score. Results of this research supports a preliminary attempt at a comprehensive risk analysis that can be used in the future to conduct a full risk assessment.
