This current study aimed to analyze the strategies of insertion of family farmers in School Feeding Program (PAE) of Capitão Leonidas Marques - PR. To this end, a survey of 19 farmers was conducted. We sought to further to characterize whom are farmers who accessed the PAE of the county from 2010-2012, identifying the membership of the family farmer to that promoted institutional market changes and adaptations in the production process to suit the standards of PAE; highlight the concerns that lead farmers familiar with the program and how these can meet the demands and thereby intensify the relationship with the market. It was found that respondents farmers are organized individually and have the support of program management in the municipality to address the adjustments to the rules and the bureaucratic process involving access to PAE. Adapted to the needs of the logistics of delivery and productive organization according to the proposed operation of the program. Consequently, farmers are keeping particularities as a social form that is not defined only for relations with the market, because the relationship land, labor and family contains a heritage that is material, but also sociocultural and is present in the strategies of integration of these suppliers in school. These farmers create strategies to boost production relying on the necessary and available to perform your job, as the space to plant and manpower required to ensure sufficient reproduction household income conditions. Showed that the interests that lead respondents to access the PAE are related to guaranteed sale with good prices, adding value to your product with the possibility of opening other markets and social recognition of the family farmer as a supplier of quality food. Therefore, the farmers interviewed are motivated by the desire to continue as individual suppliers due to the ease of trading, price guarantee, direct selling, efficient sales and receiving process, and approval of purchase model of family farming for PAE. Are social actors who demonstrated able to meet the demands imposed by the rules of the market, create their own strategies for staying in institutional markets.

In recent decades the field of education has been evidenced, gaining ground in the national political agenda. It is observed that there is concern offer for young people living in the countryside a differentiated education that meets their interests and
expectations. One of the ways pointed out by many scholars to make the necessary adjustments for the provision of a consistent education with the needs of individuals living in rural areas with regard to implementation of the Pedagogy of Alternation. For implementation of its proposal, the Pedagogy of Alternation has specific pedagogical tools resulting from a higher planning known as Training Plan. This Training Plan provides content that young people have access in the period of its formation and articulates the experiential knowledge and general and vocational training. It is in this context therefore that this research is part and has the following objective: to investigate how is the relationship between Themes generators and provided content for Secondary Education in Rural Family House Cruz Machado, Paraná. This research can be characterized as a field, explanatory and descriptive. Data collection was performed by means of simple observation of meetings where the monitors discuss about the themes generators and Training Plan. Were carried out also focused interviews with the instructors of Rural Family House Cruz Machado and pedagogical coordinator of ARCAFAR-South on the Pedagogy of Alternation, Themes generators and Training Plan. For data analysis, we used the Minayo (1992) explains that three important phases: data ordering, data classification and final analysis. The analysis based on the collected data showed that the monitors of Rural Family House searched produce a Plan of Training and seek to articulate Themes generators with high school content. However, the relationship is not always so explicitly. The link between Themes generators and high school content is configured, therefore, the context in which the research was conducted, as a challenge.

Previous issue date: 2010-06-29 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / Family farming is responsible for most of the food supply, the majority of productive employment and to keep active most of the key cultural characteristics of the Brazilian countryside. However in spite of its expressiveness in agricultural production and ability to interact with other social and economic activities, literature has also pointed out that family farms are going through a redirect in the sociocultural and economic relations and sought to sustain a successor in ownership. In this context, the study aims to examine the succession process in family farming in the Far West of Santa Catarina, trying tounderstand the weight of sociocultural factors on output or the permanence of the young in rural areas. We made theoretical and empirical research in three microregions in western Santa Catarina, which present different aspects in the process of colonization. As intervening factors to the processes of succession, the region remains heterogeneous socio-cultural traits related to the religiosity and offspring, especially among farmers, responsible for the colonization of the micro study. As the survey results, we find the families of farmers sociocultural factors internal to family farmers and large responsible for the migration of rural youth, mainly in relation to patriarchal power. The survey also showed that the migration of young people is seen by the current managers as a means of keeping a child in the property as his successor, giving the condition of economic stability and maintain the property productive and profitable.

Appalachian couples' perspectives of their family life: a qualitative analysisBird, Kimberly D. 18 November 2008 (has links)
The Appalachian family can be considered part of an ethnic group. This is due to the culture's unique, identifiable sociohistorical context, physical boundaries, family traditions, and cultural values. This qualitative study examined ten Appalachian couples' perceptions of their family life.
Components of family life were accessed via semi-structured interviews. Questions elicited information about family membership, relationships, structure, functioning and values. The information provided by participants seemed to fall into two broad categories: family values and family dynamics. Themes that emerged from the interviews indicated that participants highly valued children, family of procreation, extended family, / Master of Science

Marginality in Appalachian professional womenWoods, Elizabeth Ruggles January 1986 (has links)
This research examined a sample of first generation professional women from the Appalachian region with the goal of description and exploration of issues related to their professional lives. Data from 20 intensive interviews were organized around an expanded version of Park's (1928) concept of marginality which yielded three major foci: (1) self definitions of marginality; (2) consequences of marginality; and (3) adaptive strategies of the marginal person.
A continuum conceptualization of marginality emerged from the data with four categories of self-definition: (1) essential marginality; (2) situational marginality; (3) occasional marginality; and (4) non-marginality. Three major types of consequences, social, professional, and personal were experienced; and adaptive strategies of the active intentional, reactive intentional and non-intentional types were employed by the subjects.
The data suggested possible relationships between type of job held-- especially whether in a male dominated field--and types as well as degree of marginality experienced. Also, degree of marginality appears to have some relationship to consequences experienced and, in turn, to adaptive strategies employed by subjects.
This research contributes to the literature by expanding the existing concept of marginality into a continuum and using this new conceptualization as a framework for the analysis of first generation professional women from the Appalachian region. / M.S.
