Studium vztahu mezi vnitřní strukturou HDPE a odolností vůči rychlosti šíření trhliny SCG (Slow Crack Growth) / Study of Relation between HDPE Internal Structure and Its Cut Growth Resistance SCG (Slow Crack Growth)

Chladil, Martin January 2015 (has links)
This thesis deals with the relation between structure and resistance to failure by the mechanism of slow crack growth (SCG) in HDPE. In the theoretical part there are summarized previously acquired knowledge about the production of PE and about the relation between structure and resistance to failure by the SCG mechanism. In the experimental part, three samples of HDPE with the same melt index MI and the same content of copolymer 1- hexene were synthesized by using three chromium catalysts commonly used for polymerization in industry. There samples were analyzed by GPC-IR-MALS and TREF in order to determine the distribution of side chain branches. The results were discussed with respect to the time to failure FNCT.

Cross-talk between nicotinic acetylcholine (nAChR) and serotonin (5HT3R) receptors in sympathetic neurons

2013 September 1900 (has links)
Serotoninergic type 3 receptors (5HT3Rs) are members of the Cys-loop family of ligand-gated ion channels (LGIC), which includes nicotinic ACh, glycine, GABA-A and GABA-C receptors. All members of this family are widely expressed in the central and peripheral nervous systems, where they mostly participate in fast synaptic transmission. Activation of 5HT3Rs on vagal sensory nerve endings affect respiration, circulation, emesis and nociception; and in the central nervous system they are implicated in anxiety, depression, and drug dependence. In contrast, the function of 5HT3Rs in sympathetic neurons has not been fully determined. We discovered that 5HT3Rs interact with nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs), the main drivers of the fast cholinergic autonomic synapse, through cross-talk mechanisms. We examined cross-talk by the patch-clamp technique on cultured mouse superior cervical ganglia (SCG) neurons. Co-stimulation of 5HT3Rs and nAChRs resulted in the generation of a combined current that was smaller than arithmetically predicted if the receptors did not interact with one another. This interaction, which we quantified as mean peak amplitude and mean ionic charge, was dependent on activation of 5HT3Rs and nAChRs, and independent of metabotropic receptors, Ca2+ entry and Ca2+ second messenger pathways, and of the direct action of 5HT on nAChRs. Preliminary data using an antibody targeted to the M3-M4 linker region of the 5HT3A subunit revealed that 5HT3Rs and nAChRs possibly cross-talk through physical interactions. These results revealed a potential role of the 5HT3R in the regulation of sympathetic synaptic transmission through cross-talk inhibition of nAChRs.

Creepová životnost vysokomolekulárního polyethylenu (HDPE) / Creep Behaviour of High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE)

Patzelt, Petr January 2019 (has links)
The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the summary of material properties and testing parameters that influence SCG process. The experimental part is aimed on the comparison of different condition effects on the process of FNCT and PENT. Chosen temperatures for PENT were 70; 80 and 90 °C and the applied nominal stress 2,0; 2,4 and 2,8 MPa. In the case of FNCT the chosen temperatures were the same and the ligamental stress was 4 MPa for all used environments which were: water, Arkopal N110 solution and Dehyton PL solution. In addition, several experiments were measuered under applied nominal stresses 3; 4; 5; 6; 8 a 10 MPa and at 80 °C in Arkopal N110 solution. The morphology of crack surfaces was studied afterwards. The obtained data were used for evaluaion by a five parameter equation.

Mot en effektiv data- och informationshantering på SiCell

Bergman, Ebba, Blomkvist, Viktor, Erkers, Julia, Handin, Niklas, Hellner, Joakim, Nettelblad, Jessica January 2013 (has links)

An Introduction to the Comparison of Seismocardiography and Phonocardiography

Voyatzoglou, Anna C 01 January 2022 (has links)
The intent of this thesis is to lay groundwork for examining the relationship between seismocardiography (SCG) and phonocardiography (PCG). Both are methods of measuring and describing heart mechanical function. SCG is described as chest vibrations while the heart beats, and PCG is described as acoustic chest surface signal believed to represent the heart valves opening or closing. SCG and PCG have both been used separately in clinical and research settings, but there is currently no clear comparison between the two. Therefore, there has been no way at the present to understand how one signal might inform the other. This study is an effort to fill that gap. SCG and PCG sensors were placed on subjects’ chests while sensor output was simultaneously recorded. The magnitudes of the signals and their trends were then compared against each other to see their similarities and differences. The comparisons demonstrated similar trends between the two sensor types, supporting the hypothesis that there is a relationship between the two that requires further research and insight.

Underground coal gasification : overview of an economic and environmental evaluation

Kitaka, Richard Herbertson 22 February 2012 (has links)
This paper examines an overview of the economic and environmental aspects of Underground Coal Gasification (UCG) as a viable option to the above ground Surface Coal Gasification (SCG). In addition, some highlights, hurdles and opportunities from early investment to successful commercial application of some worldwide UCG projects will be discussed. Global energy demands have prompted continual crude oil consumption at an astronomical pace. As such, the most advanced economies are looking for local and bountiful resources to challenge crude oil's dependence for which coal provides the best alternative so far. In the U.S, the Department of Energy (DOE), the National Energy Transportation Laboratory (NETL) along with the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) continue to support pilot programs that develop improved methods for clean coal technologies to produce coal derived fuels competitive with crude oil fuels at about $30 per barrel. Lignite, the softest of the four types of coal, is the best candidate for underground coal gasification due to its abundance, high volatility and water to carbon content in its rock formation. The biggest challenge of modern humans is to find a balance of energy consumption, availability of resources, production costs and environmental conservation. Additionally, UCG has environmental benefits that include mitigating CO₂ emissions through Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) and reduced overall surface pollutants, making it the preferred choice over SCG. / text

Širdies signalų analizės metodų paieška ir kūrimas / The retrieval and creation of methods to heart signal analysis

Keršulytė, Gintarė 16 August 2007 (has links)
Didelė dalis širdies susirgimų diagnostinių kriterijų gaunama registruojant ir analizuojant kardiosignalus, kurie atspindi tiek elektrinės širdies veiklos sutrikimus (EKG), tiek ir hemodinaminės bei mechaninės veiklos pokyčius, t.y. impedanskardiograma (IKG) ir seismokardiograma (SKG). Dar daugiau, efektyvus širdies susirgimų diagnostikos problemų sprendimas yra naujų kardiosignalų analizės technologijų kūrimas. Jau kelis dešimtmečius Furjė transformacija taikoma EKG dažnumų analizei, tuo tarpu kai IKG ir SKG dažnio charakteristikų vertinimui šis metodas nebuvo naudojamas. Darbo tikslas buvo pritaikyti Furjė analizę įvertinant bei palyginant tris sinchroniškai užregistruotus kardiosignalus, nes jie atspindi elektrinės širdies, hemodinaminės bei mechaninės širdies veiklos pokyčius geriau nei vienas EKG signalas. Kitas darbo tikslas buvo pritaikyti Furjė analizę įvertinant bei palyginant trijų sinchroniškai užregistruotų signalų - EKG, IKG ir SKG dažnio charakteristikas ir koherenciją bei klasifikuoti dvi grupes - "sveikas" ir "ligonis". Rezultatai rodo, kad koherencijos vertinimas ir spektrinė analizė gali būti naudinga gali būti naudingas širdies kraujagyslių bei plaučių sistemų ligų diagnostikai. / A big part of heart disease diagnostics criteria is collected by registration and analysis of cardio signals that reflect the disturbances of the electric heart activity – electrocardiogram (EСG), changes of hemodynamic - impedance cardiograms (IСG) and mechanic activity - seismocardiogram (SСG). ECG analysis is generally applying in clinic practice, but usually in visual way only. Due to the development of the technologies, the bigger amount of data could be stored and more exact analysis of information could be carried out. Therefore, a solution of problem of effective diagnostics of heart diseases is the creation of new technologies for analysis of cardio signals. Previously Fourier series were applied to frequency analysis of ECG, but this method was not applied for estimation of ICG and SCG frequency characteristics. In this thesis the frequency analysis method was applied to three cardio signals, because they reflect the electrical and mechanical work of the human heart better as entirely ECG signal. The main aim of this work was to adapt Fourier transformation to assessing and comparing some characteristics of hereinbefore signals, such as coherence and classify two searching groups - “healthy” and “sick”. Results showed that rating of coherence and spectral analysis could be useful for rightly analyzing and classifying the searching groups.
