The subject of the diploma thesis titled, "Collection of Solved Problems of Business Intelligence for Students of the Faculty of Economics" is a creation and description of a series of solved problems of Business Intelligence. The theoretical part is focused on basic terms associated with Business Intelligence. In the practical part, there is showed the usage of MS SQL Server and MS Server Data Tools for creation different parts of the Business Intelligence process.

The graduation thesis is engaged in the problems of ETL development in terms of Business Intelligence solution. It analyses the wider portfolio of aplications supporting ETL development and offers the survey of its basic characteristics. There is a detail analysis of the pair of chosen instruments which utility is shown on the development of the real transformations. Then the advantages and possible risks of the transition on the higher edition of the product PowerCenter from Informatica company are being analysed too. The constituent of the thesis is engaged in optimalization procedure which is put into real operation of data warehouse and shows its benefit in term of computer time reduction The aim of the thesis is to show the detail look into the ETL instruments, formation of ETL transformations and not least the ways of optimalization of ETL transformations. The graduation thesis proposes to solve the problems in selection of convenient ETL instrument not only from the view of ETL developer in the shape of detailed comparison of the pair instrument usage but also from the view of management in the shape of general survey, basic characteristics and the comparison of wider porfolio of ETL instruments. In terms of detailed analysis the set Informatica PowerCenter should give us answers for the questions like: "What advantages does the upgrade of Informatica PowerCenter range 7 to range 8 bring?" or "What problems may that upgrade cause and how can we solve those problems? The part devoted to optimalization proposes to offer the outlook to the basic optimalization procedures inside the data warehouse and comparison of its contribution. In parallel with analytic part there is also proceeding the formation of practical part of the graduation thesis which consists in development of really used ETL transformations and in optimalization of selected ETL transformations of data warehouse. First the graduation thesis is concentrated on the analytic activity consisting in the products research which are on the top of ETL development. Then it is gathering the detailed knowledge of two instruments which is aplicated for the formation of ETL transformations The second analytic phase is concentrated on the optimalization procedures. The knowledge acquired in that phase is subsequently used in practice and the final analysis of those procedures and benefits is proceeding. The graduation thesis does not also miss out to partly outline the future development in the field of ETL.The main contribution consists in giving not only the comprehensive survey of ETL instruments but also in the detailed analysis of pros and cons of the pair of selected products. The thesis offered the answers to the questions asked in the outset connected with the transition to upper version of Power Center. The analysis of optimalization procedure enabled the optimalization of 29 ETL transformations and their high effectivity was proved too.

Environmental data hold important information regarding humanity’s past, present, and future, and are managed in various ways. The database structure most commonly used in contemporary applications is the relational database. Its usage in the scientific world for managing environmental data is not as popular as in businesses enterprises. Attention is caught by the diverse nature and rapidly growing volume of environmental data that has been increasing substantially in recent. Environmental data for the Chukchi Sea, with its embedded potential oil resources, have become important for characterizing the physical, chemical, and biological environment. Substantive data have been collected recently by researchers from the Chukchi Sea Offshore Monitoring in the Drilling Area: Chemical and Benthos (COMIDA CAB) project. A modified Observations Data Model was employed for storing, retrieving, visualizing and sharing data. Throughout the project-based study, the processes of environmental data heterogeneity reconciliation and relational database model modification and implementation were carried out. Data were transformed into shareable information, which improves data interoperability between different software applications (e.g. ArcGIS and SQL server). The results confirm the feasibility and extendibility of employing relational databases for environmental data management. / text

This master´s theis deals design and implementation of Business Intelligence the company of Click Credit s.r.o. The main task within the BI integration services to design and create a central register of delinquent clients which ensure data are fully consistent and could by used for futrher analysis. The first part of the thesis describes the theoretical foundations of integration and analytical services. In the second part of the thesis is analysis of the current situation and solution proposal.

Į baigiamojo darbo sudėtį įeina SQL Server 2005, Reporting Services, bei kitų numatomų instrumentinių priemonių ir technologijų analizė, reikalavimų sistemai išgavimas, taip pat sistemos modulių projektavimas bei apjungimas ir realizacija. Sistema supruojektuota ir realizuota remiantis sudaryta specifikacija. Sistemos realizacijai naudojami Microsoft SQL Server 2005 bei Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 programavimo paketai. Taip pat pateikiama, jau realizuotos sistemos testavimo rezultatai ir išvados. / This final work includes SQL Server 2005, Reporting Services and other instrumental tools or technology analysis, requirement for the system extraction and also modules of the system projection, integration to one unit and realization. The system was designed and implemented in accordance with specification. To implement the system was used Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 programming packages. Also there are the testing results of the system and final conclusions.

Lönsamheten för konsultbolag är beroende av antalet timmar konsulter arbetar vad gäller leveranser i kunduppdrag. Att timmar ej levereras på grund av sjukdom eller överbeläggning påverkar resultatet för bolaget. Konsultbolag där konsulter samma vecka arbetar mot olika kunder och uppdrag, kan ha svårt att synliggöra och följa upp leveranserna vilket kan resultera i inkomstbortfall och försenade leveranser. Hypotesen för detta examensarbete är att visualisering och uppföljning minskar risken till inkomstbortfall och försenade leveranser. Författarna har tillsammans med företaget aRway AB testat denna hypotes genom att utveckla ett verktyg för att visualisera prognos och utfall för konsulter på företaget. Rapporten beskriver processen för framtagandet av en lösning för leveransplanering, prognostisering och uppföljning för ett mindre konsultbolag. Rapporten innehåller även en teoretisk bakgrund till arbetet. Resultatet av detta arbete är en lösning som används för att visualisera och följa upp företagets leveranser, vilket har gett en ökad leveransprestation och minskat inkomstbortfall. / Profitability for a consultant company is dependent of the actual consultant hours delivered by consultants in customer projects. The company result will be affected if the consultant hours couldn’t be delivered because of illness or over-allocation. In consultant company’s where consultants work with different projects and customers it can be hard to visualize and follow-up the actual forecast. This could affect the company’s result and also delay the service delivery in projects. The hypothesis for this thesis is that visualization and follow-up of the actual result will reduce the risk for loss of income and delayed projects. The authors in corporation with aRway AB have tested this hypothesis by developing a tool that visualizes the forecast and performance for consultants working at aRway AB. This work have resulted in a report that describes the process for developing a solution that will help smaller consultant companies with delivery planning, forecasting and performance follow up. In the report is also a theoretical background included. Outcome of this work is a tool for visualizing and follow up the company’s deliveries which has given the company an enhanced service delivery and increased result.

<p>Detta examensarbete omfattar utveckling och test av en metod för distribution av data i ett multidatabassystem. Testen av metoden har gjorts genom att den har implementerats i en fallstudie. Fallstudien berör en organisation som har behov av att integrera tre av sina databassystem. Detta för att information ska kunna utbytas mellan dessa. Integrationen av databassystemen har gjorts på ett sådant sätt att de data som distribueras från dessa skickas till en central databas, med SQL Server som databashanterare.</p><p>Det verktyg som har valts att användas i examensarbetet för att lösa uppgiften är Data Transformation Services, DTS, i SQL Server.</p>

This diploma thesis deals with the problems of development and implementation of web applications with the support of IFML notation. Processes in the sales department of middle-sized company which are focused on the electronic auctions are modelled through the use of UML 2.0 notation and BPMN 2.0 using a CASE software tool called Enterprise Architect. Then the complete process of development of web applications is made with the support of the product's life cycle using the modeling language IFML and a CASE software tool called WebRatio. The implementation of web applications is made using ASP.NET technology and Microsoft SQL Server.
