Attend the Tale of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet StreetMelton, Kyle January 2011 (has links)
Murder on stage is the first and most theatrical moment known to the theater. Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, takes this effect to a whole other level. Sweeney Todd is a dark opera that follows the demise of a man through his struggle for revenge, and his quest to reunite with his family. This thesis presents the unique designs for four productions: Ain’t Misbehavin’, Is He Dead?, Dead Man’s Cell Phone, and Legacy of Light. Presented here are the research images, conversations, situations and their resulting designs represented in my renderings and photographs of the fully realized production. Throughout, I will state my objectives in bettering the quality of interaction with each director and my reflections on the ongoing process of creating a trusting and balanced collaborative process, one that expertly serves the production.

Airships and angels : concept and collaborationPettway, Jocelyn Denise 03 February 2014 (has links)
Airships and Angels is a faux Victorian travel journal created through collaboration with Kristina Krumholt and Rudy Ramirez. Ultimately, the goal of the thesis project is to disrupt traditional hierarchical creative processes by challenging the order in which artifacts are crafted during the creation of a narrative structure and, ultimately, a performance. The end product is a leather book that is shared in the manner of rare books (by appointment and in a controlled environment) for a week, and two special two-night readings with projected imagery at the end of the week.
In this process I first created concept art and the text was created afterwards by Krumholt. Once the text was complete the two artifacts were brought together and developed further. Eventually all the images were drawn and the book was printed, bound, and performed. / text

"Alchemy of Desire/Dead Man's Blues": To Tree Or Not To TreeLarson, Heidi Elaine 01 August 2015 (has links)
The subjects of grief and of the afterlife are ones that have been discussed and analyzed for centuries, with no conclusive answers as to where we go or how we should go on. In “Alchemy of Desire/ Dead Man’s Blues”, Caridad Svich continues this discussion through a narrative, centered around a group of women dealing with the aftermath of a loss. She uses the term alchemy as an allegory for one’s ability to transcend and transform, and in turn, come to know the meaning of life…and death. This paper serves as a documentation of the SIUC Theater Department’s process and results in bringing this conversation to the stage, and this story to life.
