The Effects of Inhibitory Control and Perceptual Attention on Cyber Security

Pearson, Ed 03 May 2019 (has links)
This dissertation recommends research to investigate the effects inhibitory control and perceptual attention have on the cyber security decision-making process. Understanding the effects that inhibitory control and perceptual attention have on the security decision- making process will allow for better defenses to be developed against social engineering and phishing. A survey and review of previous research in the area of Human Computer- Interaction and Security is presented. An experiment is performed to evaluate inhibitory control, which is composed of prepotent response inhibition, resistance to distractor interference, and resistance to proactive interference (PI). Additionally, the experiment evaluates perceptual attention and the security decision-making process.

Energy sources of the future – an explorative scenario analysis of Sweden’s energy security in regard to present energy policy

Ehrling, Axel January 2019 (has links)
Energy has always been an essential commodity, vital for a well-functioning society. Since, the industrialization has fossil fuels been used as man’s main energy source. Consequently, vast amounts of emissions have spread into earth’s atmosphere and lead to an unprecedently quick global warming. Governments are today reacting to climate change, and energy policies to limit the effects are developed. Sweden has since year 2008 established energy policy targets to reduce its emissions. This report looks into outcomes of Swedish energy policy by forecasting scenarios to measure target achievement and effects on Swedish energy security. Energy security has historically been dominated by geopolitical issues and oil, however, today the term has grown to encompass secure access to energy services at a sufficiently low and stable price, in a way that is socially and environmentally acceptable compared to other energy options. Thus, energy security in this report is understood as ‘Ensuring access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all’. From this definition are forecasted scenarios developed and analyzed towards an energy security framework consisting of three subcategorize, affordability, reliability and sustainability. The scenarios are made by linear, exponential and logistic trendlines, to cover different expansion patterns. The general outcome of the scenarios suggests that energy security as defined will become more sustainable and reliable at the cost of affordability for energy consumers. However, even though sustainability is increasing are some of the energy policy targets not likely to succeed if business continues as usual.

Therefore, the Security Management has become strategic, seeking to bring business value "security" as a fundamental instrument in the implementation of production. Raise the history of implementation of the safety management System of the power plant and also we checked through universal indicators of security, if the numbers achieved satisfactory evolution, present trying to identify the actions taken and the results. In the process of evolution of that system, the plant became the first in the world in obtaining International certification (OHSAS 18001) security sector, as well as achieve Cosan 4th cane processing in Brazil. Applying the ICOS Instrument - Organizational Climate inventory safety in 2005 and again in 2011, we evaluate whether with production growth, coupled with the increase in the number of employees, the security value remained present. Apuramos also possible factors such as company time, schooling, proportion of accidents and interviews with officials who contributed to the existence of sectors there are 16 years without losing a day of work by accident. Finally, we found that deal with security management, empowers the company to face difficulties on the market, because success can not be worth today, for the following day in the event of an accident. Prevent, educate, seeking knowledge, celebrate, collect results, and daring, define plant's administration style studied.

Assessing food security indicators in Ba-Phalaborwa Local Communities, Mopani District, Limpopo Province, South Africa

Ralefatane, Moyahabo Elizabeth January 2021 (has links)
Thesis (M. Sc. Agriculture (Agricultural Economics)) -- University of Limpopo, 2021 / This study investigated the food security indicators in the rural communities of Ba-Phalaborwa Local Municipality of the Limpopo Province. Quantitative data were gathered from five villages in the municipality using the probability proportionate to size. Data were collected from 185 households. The analytical tools that were used in this study include: Descriptive Statistics, Food Security Indicator Measures and the Logistic Regression Model. Food security is a multidimensional concept; thus it is difficult to measure it comprehensively. Hence, three food security indicators measures, namely; the Household Food Insecurity Access Scale (HFIAS), Household Dietary Diversity Score (HDDS) and Coping Strategies Index (CSI) were combined in this study to measure food security in the study. Each indicator measure was used independently. The Logit Regression Model was used to determine the factors affecting the status of household food security. Certain explanatory variables, namely; household size, marital status and receiving government grant, had a negative relationship with the dependent variable. On the other hand, other variables such as educational level, employment status, gender distance to the markets and health status of the household head were positively correlated with the household’s food security status. The study rejected the null hypothesis which stated that socioeconomic factors do not have influence on the households’ food security status in the Ba-Phalaborwa local municipality. Out of the 11 variables, only four variables were significant, with the household size at 10%, educational level at 5%, household monthly food expenditure at 1% and distance to the market at 10%, respectively. Therefore government should direct more focus should on the introduction of feeding schemes in order to reduce the burden on the poor and at the same time, make it easier for young children to attend school to improve their educational statuses. The households in the study area are not food secured because 65.4 % of households could not afford the food that they preferred and were depending on borrowing food from their relatives and creating debts.
