Inquietude e Sehnsucht na obra de Georg Trakl / Uneasiness and Sehnsucht in the work of Georg Trakl

Moosburger, Laura de Borba 28 May 2019 (has links)
This work analyses and interprets the works of Georg Trakl addressing the \"Christian uneasiness\" and \"romantic longing\" (Sehnsucht) as basilar for his poetic expression. We assess those two foundations as a desire of purity, beauty and kindness, as well as a larger meaning that could justify a world filled with sorrow, suffering and injustice. We picture the melancholy in traklian works as a result of the failure of those romantic expectancies, harmed as they were by the disenchantment of the world, the horrors of WWI and the confrontation with the so called \"demise of the Christian God\" in the beginning of the XXth century. Therefore our natural parameter of comparison is the connection of uneasiness and Sehnsucht in romanticism (the best example being Novalis), where such combination surges the hope for some kind of synchrony between human longings and the universe - expressed as the \"cosmic harmony\" idea -, and a possibility of grasping the utter object of the yearning and an enthusiastic trust in poetry and it´s potential of achievement. Trakl´s oeuvre contrasts with romanticism and drives an eminently affective reaction opposing a world adverse to any measure of spiritual aspiration: a world tainted by the lost of any transcendence and the impossibility of any poetic existence or sanctification of life by poetic means. However, from the midst of the profound sorrow and hopelessness of his poetry the cry and effort of the poet emerges attempting to reclaim precisely what is experienced as lost: the sense of purity, beauty and kindness.

Ruínas em ruídos: modulações da melancolia em poemas de Joseph von Eichendorff / Rustling ruins: modulations of melancholy in Joseph von Eichendorffs poems

Polycarpo, Nathaschka Martiniuk Liebest 19 September 2016 (has links)
This dissertation aims to analyze poems written by the German poet and writer Joseph von Eichendorff (1788-1857), an under-studied author in Brazil. Our study intends to point the confluences between his poetry and the tradition of melancholy, and mainly to explore the sui generis treatment of the subject developed by the author. Thus, five poems were selected to build our corpus: Sehnsucht [Yearning, 1834], Im Herbst [In Fall, 1837], Wehmut [Melancholy, 1815], Wehmut [Melancholy, 1837] e Mondnacht [Moonlit Night, 1837]. In this work, we do not intend to offer a comprehensive history of melancholy, but only to highlight the main topics related to the analysis of our corpus. Rather than just listing elements of melancholy in the writers verses, our goal here is to show the particular way in which melancholy takes form in his poetry: as a tenderness belonging to his poetic process. The dialogue between these poems and melancholy has one point in common: music. Music seems to be essential to Eichendorffs work. His poem Wünschelrute [Divining rod] can be understood as a motto of his poetry: Schläft ein Lied in allen Dingen,/ Die da träumen fort und fort,/ Und die Welt fängt an zu singen,/ Triffst du nur das Zauberwort the poet uses this magical word, the poetry, to awake the sleeping song of all things. Music is the starting point of remembrance, which takes the poetic persona either to a melancholic search for the past or to a Sehnsucht (an infinit wish) for foreign lands in a melancholic desire for his home. With its delicate language, Eichendorffs poetry shows a persona aware of the noises emerging around him, which bring up the ruins of a distant and desired homeland, of a lost and longing past which can be briefly revisited only through the use of language.

Setkávání lásky a přírody v lyrice Eduarda Mörikeho / The Encounters of Love and Nature in the Lyric Poetry of Eduard Mörike

Dvořáková, Tereza January 2021 (has links)
This diploma thesis explores the lyrical poetry of Eduard Mörike (1804-1875), a German poet. The topic of the thesis is theencountering of nature and love in his works. This poet, less known in the Czech context, wrote various kinds of poems, which deserve attention. The thesis is divided in two parts, theoretical and interpretative. In the first part, the thesis focuses on giving an overall context (I deal with a historical context, literary epochs, during which Eduard Mörike wrote, his personality and general introduction in lyrical poetry). The second part of my thesis aims to interpret selected poems, which are divided bytheir themes: romantic love, the morning, wayfaring, the forest and the so-called "Dinggedichte," or poems focusing on understanding and appreciation of a single item. In each poem, a mood or feeling that characterizes the poem is described, who is the speaker within the poem, and which topics of love and nature can be observed. From the perspective of form, I analyze the rhyme scheme. The analysis of each thematic group also contains a comparation of the poems. The interpretational part aims to connect and evaluate the interweaving of love and nature in the poetic works of Eduard Mörike and touch upon the deeper meaning of the poems. Its aim is also to make the selected works...
